@16:49 - "And you should not judge a man by his one weak moment. You need to look at the whole body of his work. You need to look at his whole message. You need to look at his whole ministry. And don't judge him on one hiccup that happens." Hmmm, I wonder why he is mentioning that?

Before we throw this baby out with the bath water, consider Jesus’ response to His disciples when they complained that non-believers were using Jesus’ name to perform miracles. Mark 9:38. Jesus didn’t condemn the use of His name by fallen humans. Not saying Lawson’s sermon / lifestyle were in any way acceptable! Imagine how many sermons have been preached by men of the cloth in an unworthy manner.

Nah. I learned long ago to just ignore them that hate me. For they won’t be accompanying me on my journey. They were only present for a few days in God’s Plans. This Lawson guy is another perfect example! I’m sure Joel’s over this
He is speaking to a congregation who has no idea what is about to transpire, and asking not to be judged for a 'hiccup' of indiscretion. But rather asking for 'grace' which he has never afforded anyone else caught in the same trap in which he now finds himself. By the same yardstick he has measured others he now must reconcile that according to Calvinists doctrine, his entire Christian experience may be no more than an episode of 'Evanescent Grace'. He has publicly proclaimed God will only use a 'perfect vessel'. As a non-Calvinist I can accept and pray for him as a fallen brother caught in sin and able to repent. BUT, Calvinism does not afford this as an option. The doctrine declares whatever his 'transgression' was/is must be accepted to be a manifestation of God's perfect will, (secret or otherwise). And immutably, eternally, decreed from the foundation of the world... for God's glory. He literally could not have done anything else. Otherwise, he must have a 'free will' to make moral, meaningful, choices. The Compatibilist claims that he would choose according to his greatest desire, which would always choose sin because of his 'sinful nature', to which any truly "elect" person would no longer be in bondage!

If one seeks the reason for the difference-why some steadfastly persevered, and others fail out of instability-none occurs to us other than that the Lord upholds the former, strengthening them by his own power, that they may not perish; while to the latter, that they may be examples of inconstancy, he does not impart the same power” (Institutes 2.5.3; Calvin 1960:320)." Nor do I even deny that God illumines their mind to this extent .... there is nothing inconsistent in this with the fact of his enlightening some with a present sense of grace, which afterwards proves evanescent.” (3.2.11, Institutes) (( Evanescent Grace is indistinguishable from genuine Grace... until if fails by design)) Calvin continues; “Yet sometimes he also causes those whom he illumines only for a time to partake of it; then he justly forsakes them on account of their ungratefulness and strikes them with even greater blindness.” (Institutes of Christian Religion, 3.24.8) ((their ungratefulness is also by God's decree)) Calvin continues; “We cannot imagine any certainty that is not tinged with doubt, or any assurance that is not assailed by some anxiety. . . . Believers are in perpetual conflict with their own unbelief” (Calvin, Institutes, 3.2.18). ((there is no assurance of personal salvation afforded in Calvinism)) Even R. C. No one can ever know if what they believe they are experiencing is the result of God's true affection, or not. They cannot trust the faith they believe they have, any more than the God they believe gave it to them. John MacArthur admits, "How can I know if I am saved?" is the single most asked question at all their conferences. All the leaders have a ready-response. But the have no 'answer'. Just look for "evidence" and hope for the best. If you want to do Christian things.... you're probably saved, because an unregenerate probably would not....probably.
You are the guy Paul is arguing with in Romans 9. How can he still find fault, for who can resist his will? All things bring glory to God. Whether sin or obedience. If sin didn’t bring God glory then we would literally have purposeless evil. Examples being Joseph being sold into slavery and Christ being killed unjustly. Then you might reply… shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? To which Paul would say by No means!!! So now we go to first John which highlights people making profession of faith while their actions betray their profession of faith. Why would you pray for him? He has free will and God cannot violate that by your Arminian worldview. We can actually pray for him as Calvinists and ask God to, by his spirit, convict him concerning his sin and then at which point God may do that and then he will truly repent and be healed. God being in control should give you hope and certainty that all things he wants, he actually gets. We are not puppets, we make choices, but we should never make an excuse for sin baby saying to ourselves, I want this sin, I can’t choose anything other than what I will end up choosing, so I’ll pick the sin. When in reality you’re believing a lie and that’s why you choose the sin and use the decrees of God to justify your sin. Paul argues literally against that over and over because people like you hear what he is clearly saying then twist his words. I mean please go read Romans and see that Paul is literally arguing in response to Arminian mind sets.

I really can't understand why any of them think adultery is so terrible. Afterall they elected an adulterer to the highest office in the land. Not only that, he's a liar, a thief, wants to murder his political opponents, and has never done anything wrong to ask forgiveness for. They are supposedly the moral majority.
All men including you, me and Steve Lawson are in flesh. Paul explicitly lists the works of the flesh in Gal 5. So all men who are Church leaders, Elders and Pastors are not exempt from the works of the flesh. The LUST (desire) of flesh Paul mentions is not SEXUAL desires. It’s the desire to be obedient to the moral Law. Those who walk in spirit believing that Jesus has kept the moral Law perfectly in their place as their substitute and Proxy are those who have overcome the lust (desire) of their flesh to keep the moral law to Please God.
