I was born in 1967 and raised in the “heyday” of the post V2 church-and left that church. After attending my first TLM this year, this question “why did they take this from us?” was on my mind. And as the months went by, attending TLM and learning the traditional faith, I realized that more than the Mass was taken from us. Souls were lost after V2. Thank you, Father for teaching truth.
Very true. Millions of souls have been led astray by selfish men gaining the seats of power within the Roman Catholic Church. The 20th mid-century Spirit of "modern man" decided science, rationalism and psychology explained our world & not crusty, old-fashioned Divine intervention. God was pronounced "dead" in the 1960s. Instead of defending Christ & His Kingdom on Earth, the RC Prelates went to work to place the Church under the power of the state. Instead of defending Christ as King, the tables were flipped (literally) and Man now serves himself & not his Divine Creator. The Church is now a shell of itself. Hold onto the Divine Graces you have been given, strengthen them. Your eyes now see the diabolical disorientation. Return to all things that are of God with the true One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Christ is still King. "Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee". 🙏✝️🙏

I grew up with the NO and feel that we were robbed. We found the tlm 4 years ago and it changed our lives forever. We will fight for tradition with you Father!
Same here! I grew up in a very active NO parish. Everything in our community centered around the parish. (St. James in Sauk Village, Ill) All of the annual community events, as well as parish events, were held here. Parish sponsored events had so many people, even non-Catholics, participating. I have watched these types of parishes and Catholic schools dwindle down to almost nothing and then closing. Both St. James school and parish closed. Who closes churches? While these are great memories I have, I now realize that I was missing out on so much more with my faith I grew up during a time of great experimentation in the Catholic Church. I’m a “collage Catholic”. Communion in the hand started when I was in 4th grade. So many errors happened in the faith/ Catechism while I was growing up. I thought all of this was normal and never questioned anything until I was in my 30’s. I grew up thinking that the NO Mass and culture was the way to live. And now hundreds of those churches are closed. I went to teach in the Catholic schools in Chicago and every one of them have closed. So many family members, friends, and classmates have all abandoned the faith. Even after all the activities in the parishes, all the retreats, and all the Catholic education we all received. Years later my husband and I, along with our kids, made the switch to the TLM. We love it so much. It’s a small parish and it’s definitely humble. But everything about it is so beautiful and so special
We were horribly robbed. I was never given a catechism. I failed in raising my children Catholic. I feel horrible, a filthy wretvh.. But Bishops won't get off. Bishop Daniel Dolan helped me, . I cry every time I see a sermon by him. He went to God
It’s about the reverence and giving everything we have to God. They will take away our beautiful buildings. We will continue to gather in basements and tents. Keep the faith. He is coming!
Sad but true. Years ago, when a very good and holy priest (RIP) was relegated to saying the TLM in a rented space, he used the following analogy: When a diamond ring is gifted in a pretty box, it's not the box that's important, but the diamond ring inside. Of course, he was referring to the Holy Eucharist.

My youth was lived during the TLM and then ripped away. When the churches were locked, I found that there existed the TLM. It was as if I had come home-even when forced to attend in a parking lot and six feet apart, we received kneeling and on the tongue. And I will tell you it was a miracle to have found it at all. I remember thinking how mysterious the Holy Spirit works-that during such a tyrannical lockdown of churches and society, He allowed me to return to the greatest gift on Earth. I remembered as if I had never been away from the Latin Mass every word and gesture the priest enacted in persona Criste!
Debra, as I read your comment, I could see that yes, my husband and I have a similar experience. I think there are millions of us. We grew up only knowing the Latin Mass as kids, but saw it ripped away, our parents so puzzled and disheartened and asking what just happened!? N. O. was forced on us all. We are in our 70’s now. After becoming disgusted yes, disgusted with our local N. O. church I started to search..read/ watch RUclipss educating myself and began to discover exactly what happened. yeah i also have a near 4 hr round trip to my closest mass (had a diocesan tlm once a month but my priest who was saying those was recently put on sabbatical in the bishops recent placement announcements - unexpectedly and probably retaliatory related to his tlm ministry) every other week. still worth it. thank God.

Thank you for teaching the truth Father. The Church needs you! It was when I began to ask the question, why was there such a big change in the mass that I began to understand why I had to walk away from the new order. So many are afraid to ask that question. They don't believe it's their problem.

And the sung mass, with talented voices in the schola, brought tears. All the things you said here, and more about our NO! I come from protestantism, and after awhile everything in those churches are dead. Now coming to Catholicism and seeing how everything comes together and the purity in worship, I’d prefer never to leave the tradition.

🙏Thank you, Father Mawdsley. It is physically impossible for my son and I to attend the TLM except online. I have stopped going to the Novus Ordo mass. I hope we can attend the TLM really soon and receive the Holy Eucharist properly which my son and I believe to be the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Viva Cristo Rey!
If you can manage a long journey to mass, that will be wonderful, but it is worth finding a faithful parish with a priest who will help you in spiritual growth. If you can’t find a TLM in reasonable distance, do shop around for second best - Jesus is still present. Some of the young priests are returning to reverence, even within NO. ❤️🙏
@@MsDormy We are in an island in the middle of the ocean. The next TLM is about $300 one way. Not practical. If I can receive Holy Communion from the priest in the tongue in a Novus Ordo mass, I will. But it is mostly the Extraordinary Ministers who give Communion, who we never receive from.
Sorry, I did not put out that we are in the middle of an ocean and the nearest TLM is about 3,000 miles away, $300 one way. Not practical. Just pray for us. I know I may not be fulfilling my Sunday obligation but I am in a bind now. I saw the disparity between the TLM and the NO mass, hard to reconcile the two as what Fr. Mawdsley pointed out.

I can the remember the day we were told of the Novus Ordo. It was first said to be in the vernacular. We understood that the Mass would remain only the language would change. There was no truth in from those who set out to destroy the Mass. They will lose in the end.

There is no comparison between the two and the more I contemplate this the more sober I feel . Born in 1955. After Vatican 2 when I was an adolescent our parish priest had our beautiful marble altar smashed and discarded. A table was installed. So sad! So ugly. This was my mother’s family church since 1840. Now closed.
Born in 1965 raised Catholic went from alter rails to gym Mass in my 40s the Holy Ghost sent me to a Latin Mass !I cried when I saw what was taken from us!

First time I went to the TLM I thought "This is it! This is how it is supposed to be". It felt natural, ordered, reverent, pious and holy. Then I felt angry, I thought "Why have I been robbed of this my entire life?". At the TLM Jesus is the centre of the mass, not the priest. Sometimes I don't even know what priest is on the altar at the TLM, that's how Christ-focussed it is!
I really appreciate your videos and books. They have been very helpful to me--far better than any "Catholic" education I got as a kid. Hopefully someday I'll get to experience the traditional Latin mass, and show those I grew up with or have met since the difference.
Thank you Father Mawdsley for another very inspiring talk. I have to watch these videos several times they are so full of instruction. I remember the Latin Mass as a young boy in the sixties. My sister attends the TLM in Warrington and I do feel a desire to attend. Preston is closer to where I live. I am quite involved in my local parish so feel rather conflicted.
We drive an hour to get to our TLM parish. Many drive even further. We are grateful that we are able to do it. I'm surrounded by NO parishes where I live, but would never trade my parish for convenience. Just say'in.
Both Warrington and Preston (multiple options) are awesome. If you commit to going half a dozen times, you will be so glad that you did. Some people take to it straight away. Some need a few weeks or months to adjust. But it is like finding the pearl of great price. God bless.

I grew up in the TLM and had my communion and Confirmation in the old rite. I had my Latin/English missal which I used since I was 7 years old. It was beautiful and reverent then as the changes began, I started to notice strange things like altars being torn out, statues gone, strange folk tunes, and bad art on banners. Father explains so well the absolute beauty of the Latin Mass. Prayers are so mystical and awe inspiring.
Well, it's not just the Latin Mass. It's the architecture, the stained glass, the statues and paintings, the music, the vestments, the candles and bells.
I think we should refer to the Mass as “the Traditional Mass” and not “the Latin Mass" because that name gives the impression it is all about the Latin but is way more than just the Latin, it feeds confusion and confusion comes from the devil, God bless

I attend both Masses, but am careful which NO churches I attend. There are NO Masses that are celebrated devoutly. I was at one this morning and I noticed that quite a few young people now drop to their knees to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, and only from the priest. I find this very encouraging. Next Saturday and Sunday, God willing, I will be attending Latin Mass , Saturday in a sspx church, and Sunday at a private one. The celebrant at the latter Mass is a young priest who loves the traditional Mass. His brother priests don't, and he is suffering because of their hostility. Please pray for him.
The first time I looked up the TLM and what it meant , I immediately started crying. I dont wish the Novus Ordo is eradicated, but that the TLM and the NO may be exhalted and each catholic have the freedom of choosing which one of these rites they may experience to grow closer to God and in reverence to the holy eucharist.
I am sedevacantist. We will Never give up Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Pre 1958. I go to one with rubrics of Pope St Pius X. I will never attend mass in communion with an animal who insults Our Lady. Never. I pray Rosary across street from novus ordo desecrated churches
I grew up with the N O mass and was going to church because of parents. But I soon drop out in my early 20s yrs old but return to the church for my children, still my heart was not with God. I go because I have to. Until 2016 in my retirement. God lead me to TLM, and I was in love with the mass. My FSSP priests are awesome and I love them ❤️🇨🇦 Please, for everyone out there, please go and see what the TLM is about, don't deny yourself, go and get educated and get close to God ❤️

Father, this was outstanding. And all of your videos are outstanding so that is saying a lot. I often wonder how it was that I see- to some degree at least- that the Latin Mass is Heaven on earth. Why have I been blessed this way, in attending the Latin Mass for over 25 years, in every state that I have lived in, even though having always to drive an hour or more to attend? Why is it that some of us see and know, and would do anything to get to a Latin Mass, and others don't? Is it grace from God alone? I pray for everyone to come to Jesus in the TLM. Thank you Father for making this video. I grew up in the Novus Ordo Mass and watched as my brothers and sisters leave the Catholic faith. I did not know the Latin Rite existed until a few years ago. I don't know if had we been raised in the Latin Rite would they have left the Catholic Church or not, but I can say that attending the Latin Rite Mass has lit a flame in me. At this time I am unable to attend a Latin Mass near me but I pray that this will change soon and that in the near future there may be Latin Masses celebrated everywhere so that all may attend.

I appreciate this channel because I am learning new things and it makes more sense to me now the differences of views within Catholicism of the last 75 years or so. I am also trying to grasp Orthodoxy, and there is much to learn their as well. I will keep studying as I am neither of Rome or Constantinople. How can this not be seen? I returned to Mass going first week of January. My Church (Harvard Uni) is hollowed out & perfunctory. No music..no altar boys. Boring homilies. This month has been hot. When I went to Saturday Vigil 3 weeks ago it was hot...but the 3 wheeled Mass was over in 30 minutes. I was offended. The Church I go to when away from home just finished their Saturday Vigil Mass for good now. Low attendance. Barely 40 people when I attended (and I go Saturday and Sunday). That's the Novus Ordo for you. The mess easily proved to me in fewer than 7 months. It's all lies all the time now in collapsing 2023. How can anyone not see it? 😢
I was born in 1967 and raised in the “heyday” of the post V2 church-and left that church. After attending my first TLM this year, this question “why did they take this from us?” was on my mind. And as the months went by, attending TLM and learning the traditional faith, I realized that more than the Mass was taken from us. Souls were lost after V2. Thank you, Father for teaching truth.

Same here! I grew up in a very active NO parish. Everything in our community centered around the parish. (St. James in Sauk Village, Ill) All of the annual community events, as well as parish events, were held here. Parish sponsored events had so many people, even non-Catholics, participating. I have watched these types of parishes and Catholic schools dwindle down to almost nothing and then closing. Both St. James school and parish closed. Who closes churches? While these are great memories I have, I now realize that I was missing out on so much more with my faith
I grew up during a time of great experimentation in the Catholic Church. I’m a “collage Catholic”. Communion in the hand started when I was in 4th grade. So many errors happened in the faith/ Catechism while I was growing up. I thought all of this was normal and never questioned anything until I was in my 30’s.
I grew up thinking that the NO Mass and culture was the way to live. And now hundreds of those churches are closed. I went to teach in the Catholic schools in Chicago and every one of them have closed. So many family members, friends, and classmates have all abandoned the faith. Even after all the activities in the parishes, all the retreats, and all the Catholic education we all received.
Years later my husband and I, along with our kids, made the switch to the TLM. We love it so much. It’s a small parish and it’s definitely humble. But everything about it is so beautiful and so special

My youth was lived during the TLM and then ripped away. When the churches were locked, I found that there existed the TLM. It was as if I had come home-even when forced to attend in a parking lot and six feet apart, we received kneeling and on the tongue. And I will tell you it was a miracle to have found it at all. I remember thinking how mysterious the Holy Spirit works-that during such a tyrannical lockdown of churches and society, He allowed me to return to the greatest gift on Earth. Thank you, Father Mawdsley for a clear and concise explanation of what has really happened to the Mass. I remembered as if I had never been away from the Latin Mass every word and gesture the priest enacted in persona Criste!
Debra, as I read your comment, I could see that yes, my husband and I have a similar experience. I think there are millions of us. We grew up only knowing the Latin Mass as kids, but saw it ripped away, our parents so puzzled and disheartened and asking what just happened!? N. O. was forced on us all. We are in our 70’s now. After becoming disgusted yes, disgusted with our local N. O. church I started to search..read/ watch RUclipss educating myself and began to discover exactly what happened. I come from protestantism, and after awhile everything in those churches are dead. Now coming to Catholicism and seeing how everything comes together and the purity in worship, I’d prefer never to leave the tradition.

Online Mass does not fulfill your Sunday obligation. Don’t deprive yourself of the valid Mass at your local Novus Ordo parish.
If you can manage a long journey to mass, that will be wonderful, but it is worth finding a faithful parish with a priest who will help you in spiritual growth. If you can’t find a TLM in reasonable distance, do shop around for second best - Jesus is still present. Some of the young priests are returning to reverence, even within NO. ❤️🙏
@@MsDormy We are in an island in the middle of the ocean. The next TLM is about $300 one way. Not practical. If I can receive Holy Communion from the priest in the tongue in a Novus Ordo mass, I will. But it is mostly the Extraordinary Ministers who give Communion, who we never receive from.
Sorry, I did not put out that we are in the middle of an ocean and the nearest TLM is about 3,000 miles away, $300 one way. Not practical. Just pray for us. I know I may not be fulfilling my Sunday obligation but I am in a bind now. I saw the disparity between the TLM and the NO mass, hard to reconcile the two as what Fr. Mawdsley pointed out.
If I go every week for $600, I would not have enough financial resources to continue and hear the TLM.

(The Bible is also called the Old and New Testaments. Do you know what "testament" refers to? The "testament" in the Old Testament is from Jehovah's agreement with the people of Israel when He killed the Egyptians and deliver the Israelites from Pharaoh. Jehovah killed the firstborn males of Egypt and all the firstborn livestock, and He saved all the Israelites, which means all the people in the land of Israel were favored by Jehovah, and all will be saved; He wanted to do a lasting work with them, and established the covenant with them with the blood of the lamb. The covenant Jehovah's covenant is unchangeable, because it was fulfilled in blood, and established in His chosen people. The New Testament is named from the shedding of Jesus' blood on the cross and His covenant with all who believe in Him. The covenant of Jesus is this: People need only believe in Him to have their sins forgiven because of the shedding of His blood, and thus they will be saved, and be born again through Him, and no longer be sinners; people only need to believe in Him to receive His grace, and will not suffer in hell after they die. So, these books are also named from an agreement: They are called the New Testament. These two covenants cover only the Age of Law and the Age of Grace, and have nothing to do with the latter age.)

These TWO COVENANTS only cover the AGE of LAW and the AGE of GRACE, and have NOTHING to DO WITH the LAST AGE. Therefore the BIBLE is of NO GREAT USE to PEOPLE TODAY in the LAST DAYS. ☀️

Since they have already decided that the Bible is correct and without error, they study and analyze it with great interest.☀️

(The Bible is also called the Old and New Testaments. Do you know what "testament" refers to? The "testament" in the Old Testament is from Jehovah's agreement with the people of Israel when He killed the Egyptians and deliver the Israelites from Pharaoh. I can the remember the day we were told of the Novus Ordo. It was first said to be in the vernacular. We understood that the Mass would remain only the language would change. There was no truth in from those who set out to destroy the Mass. They will lose in the end.

Just now home from the 2nd ever TLM in my life and feeling more sober than I have ever felt before and .......my life has been very long . There is no comparison between the two and the more I contemplate this the more sober I feel . After the last three years I imagined that nothing could ever shock me again.........I was wrong.........again .

Born in 1955. After Vatican 2 when I was an adolescent our parish priest had our beautiful marble altar smashed and discarded. A table was installed. So sad! So ugly. This was my mother’s family church since 1840. Now closed.

First time I went to the TLM I thought "This is it! This is how it is supposed to be". It felt natural, ordered, reverent, pious and holy. Then I felt angry, I thought "Why have I been robbed of this my entire life?". At the TLM Jesus is the centre of the mass, not the priest. Sometimes I don't even know what priest is on the altar at the TLM, that's how Christ-focussed it is!

Thank you Father Mawdsley for another very inspiring talk. I have to watch these videos several times they are so full of instruction. I remember the Latin Mass as a young boy in the sixties. My sister attends the TLM in Warrington and I do feel a desire to attend. Preston is closer to where I live. I am quite involved in my local parish so feel rather conflicted.
We drive an hour to get to our TLM parish. Many drive even further. We are grateful that we are able to do it. I'm surrounded by NO parishes where I live, but would never trade my parish for convenience. Just say'in.
Both Warrington and Preston (multiple options) are awesome. If you commit to going half a dozen times, you will be so glad that you did. Some people take to it straight away. Some need a few weeks or months to adjust. But it is like finding the pearl of great price. God bless.

I grew up in the TLM and had my communion and Confirmation in the old rite. I had my Latin/English missal which I used since I was 7 years old. It was beautiful and reverent then as the changes began, I started to notice strange things like altars being torn out, statues gone, strange folk tunes, and bad art on banners. Father explains so well the absolute beauty of the Latin Mass. Prayers are so mystical and awe inspiring.

Well, it's not just the Latin Mass. It's the architecture, the stained glass, the statues and paintings, the music, the vestments, the candles and bells.
I think we should refer to the Mass as “the Traditional Mass” and not “the Latin Mass" because that name gives the impression it is all about the Latin but is way more than just the Latin, it feeds confusion and confusion comes from the devil, God bless

I attend both Masses, but am careful which NO churches I attend. There are NO Masses that are celebrated devoutly. I was at one this morning and I noticed that quite a few young people now drop to their knees to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, and only from the priest. I find this very encouraging.
Next Saturday and Sunday, God willing, I will be attending Latin Mass , Saturday in a sspx church, and Sunday at a private one. The celebrant at the latter Mass is a young priest who loves the traditional Mass. His brother priests don't, and he is suffering because of their hostility. Please pray for him.
The first time I looked up the TLM and what it meant , I immediately started crying. I dont wish the Novus Ordo is eradicated, but that the TLM and the NO may be exhalted and each catholic have the freedom of choosing which one of these rites they may experience to grow closer to God and in reverence to the holy eucharist.
I am sedevacantist. We will Never give up Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Pre 1958. I go to one with rubrics of Pope St Pius X.
I will never attend mass in communion with an animal who insults Our Lady. Never.

I grew up with the N O mass and was going to church because of parents. But I soon drop out in my early 20s yrs old but return to the church for my children, still my heart was not with God. I go because I have to. Until 2016 in my retirement. God lead me to TLM, and I was in love with the mass. My FSSP priests are awesome and I love them ❤️🇨🇦

Father, this was outstanding. And all of your videos are outstanding so that is saying a lot. I often wonder how it was that I see- to some degree at least- that the Latin Mass is Heaven on earth. Why have I been blessed this way, in attending the Latin Mass for over 25 years, in every state that I have lived in, even though having always to drive an hour or more to attend? Why is it that some of us see and know, and would do anything to get to a Latin Mass, and others don't? Is it grace from God alone? I pray for everyone to come to Jesus in the TLM. Thank you Father for making this video. I grew up in the Novus Ordo Mass and watched as my brothers and sisters leave the Catholic faith. I did not know the Latin Rite existed until a few years ago. I don't know if had we been raised in the Latin Rite would they have left the Catholic Church or not, but I can say that attending the Latin Rite Mass has lit a flame in me. At this time I am unable to attend a Latin Mass near me but I pray that this will change soon and that in the near future there may be Latin Masses celebrated everywhere so that all may attend.

I appreciate this channel because I am learning new things and it makes more sense to me now the differences of views within Catholicism of the last 75 years or so.
I am also trying to grasp Orthodoxy, and there is much to learn their as well. I will keep studying as I am neither of Rome or Constantinople. I was raised in neither camp but am beginning to understand each side more and more. I respect the passion and zeal to observe each tradition.
I pray God will help me see things even more clearly into the future. It is difficult to perceive all these historical developments and the theological philosophies that guided them all.

How can this not be seen? I returned to Mass going first week of January. My Church (Harvard Uni) is hollowed out & perfunctory. No music..no altar boys. Boring homilies. This month has been hot. When I went to Saturday Vigil 3 weeks ago it was hot...but the 3 wheeled Mass was over in 30 minutes. I was offended. The Church I go to when away from home just finished their Saturday Vigil Mass for good now. Low attendance. Barely 40 people when I attended (and I go Saturday and Sunday). That's the Novus Ordo for you. The mess easily proved to me in fewer than 7 months. It's all lies all the time now in collapsing 2023. How can anyone not see it? 😢
