Despite Fatburger's patty being 1/3lb precook, at $8.95 they are $3.25 more expensive for 1oz more to In-N-Out's $5.70 Double-Double 1/4lb precook. I much prefer whole leaf lettuce to shredded. I order extra toasted buns, chopped chili peppers, and extra veggies for no additional charge. Then also ask for free chilled spread packets when picking up my order. The $11.59 vegan shake is made with Craig's cashew-based ice cream, oat milk, and coconut whipped cream. A pint of the Craig's goes for $8.49 at Spouts. Which by judging Bob's shake @3:43 they probably use ~1/2 pint of ice cream in their shakes for big profit.
It seems that every burger is now $20. I live in Manhattan and have a nice convenience store/bodega a block away. They make great burgers and sandwiches and are reasonable. 6 oz Cheesburger Lettuce Tomato Fries $9.00 Without fries $6.00 Is it the best burger I've ever had? No, but it's very good.
Look again, $6.89. I doubt Bob got the vegan version. He's not lactose intolerant. He was just pointing the price of it and the impossible burger option prices.
Spot on about the airport/movie theatre pricing! I live in the UK & that’s the same. £6 milkshakes, £20 burgers. Basic KFC meals now £10 (were about £6 before Covid times). Can of Coke £1.10.. it’s all gone stupid!
I'm surprised you dont have your own tire changer and balancer.. the machines are pretty cheap and saves you so much time, not having to run around juggling tires. But yeah $20 for a basic fast food burger meal is bunk.. Now adays sit down full service places are cheaper even with a decent tip.
Well, here's the thing. Fatburger has been an institution here in SoCal since the 1950s. The burgers are very good and they use high-quality ingredients. The choice of skinny fries, fat fries or sweet potato fries is also very cool, and their fries are much better than many fast food places. Fatburger is a bit pricey, but I never leave hungry or disappointed. And that Maui-Banana shake is certainly tasty.
I went to this small cafe the other day to get a tuna sandwich (no crust) but the price was insane. The guy there recommended that I go to my local Fatburger and get a double cheese with fries for $2.95. I was pretty happy with the recommendation!
Yeah, the "meal" that would usually be about $5. Most fast food burgers were a standard $1, with the premium versions being $2 or $3, with the meal being about $5 or so. Used to be able to get a double cheeseburger, Whopper, Jumbo Jack or whatever for only $1. Now these same burgers are 6 times the price? This burger by itself is $10 fucking dollars.
Bob I had this argument with a local place of my small town of 700 population.....he is selling burgers for 14.95, cheese +1.50, fries +3.00 + tea ..... small town farmers here and across the street is a Mexican restaurant that will give you free chips and salsa, free tea fill-ups and a cheeseburger meal with fries for 10 bucks......I told this dude he would never make it....he has been here 2 years and I have yet to even go in there.....population 700....ha
Where do we draw the line? Do we stop going out to eat all together? Do we resort to going to upscale places as it’s not much more than the run of the mill fast food joints? Even making burgers at home are outrageous in price by the time you buy all the quality ingredients. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s simply expensive to be alive and even more expensive to die. 🤷♂️
I agree with everything but the last part. When I'm dead someone better clean up my corpse because it's going to turn within a few days 🤣 I don't give a crap whos picking up that bill.
There was a Fatburger here in Wichita, KS and it just closed permanently yesterday. It had been opened for only 2 years. Two things worked against it: It was in a horrible location and the price was too high in this city.
Soon all fast food will be like this or higher most chains have been bought out rented their land back at a ridiculous price, and on top of that now have to pay high prices to their employees for wage they have to rent their own equipment back from the major corporate conglomerate we are headed in a bad way unfortunately in this whole country they're literally collapsing our system in front of us I hate to say
The presentation is nice. I mean, it actually looks like the photo on the menu! It also looks like it's more iceberg and yellow than beef, if you catch my drift! lol
That particular restaurant is expensive. Usually Fatburger is not so expensive. For example the Fatburger in Trout Run, PA sells the large Fatburger for $7.95 while the one in Henderson, NV sells the same thing for $9.95. That's a big difference in price.
people who see the price clearly displayed and then buy the food anyway and then complain about it for a week kill me. people are all over social media complaining about McDs prices but McDs is still pulling down record profits. stop buying 20 dollar burgers and theyll stop selling them. stay home and cook you a big pot of pinto beans...youll be richer and healthier .the solution is simple really but most of us are just too lazy to soak pintos and peel taters.
Hey V-BOB-M, much like the "Five Guys" chain we believe that the establishment you dined at claims fresh never frozen ground beef. This partially explains the cost paradigm. Here's where they sneakily cheap out on the customer fella' - Their ground beef is the lower grade 70/30 blend instead of the more superior 80/20 mixture. Quite a cost savings from their purveyor. Best to be a "one & done" visit to this fast food chain homey. Great review Yo ! 🚫. 🍔. 🍟. 🚫
yeah, the one time I went to 5 Guys last fall I was floored by the cost. Freddy's Frozen Custard is similar pricing/vibe also. $7 for a shake and $4.5 for fries is a lot of dough.
Not a shocker regarding how expensive Fatburger is. Even some years back when fast food joints were relatively cheap, Fatburger was always on the high end of the cost scale.
I was at the airport in San Francisco and a basic bottle of water was $7. Ask the cashier how much the small breakfast burrito, already made as if your at a gas station, he told me if I had to ask, I probably can’t afford it, lol
I went to a Fatburger for the first time at a casino with my lady. We were kinda buzzed you could say. Wasn’t thinking about the price just assumed it would be pricey. But then Got back to the room later on and started to think. Wait a minute, how much did we spend on those damn burgers?
love u bob, but for us average joes, id rather get 1.5lb prime angus ny strip steak at that price from my butcher. goin out once a month to eat as a family of 4 gets pricey, even here in pittsburgh, pa
The ground beef they use is overly lean and flavorless. Get a burger from there with nothing on it and you'll swear it's made from sawdust. Johnny Rockets is the same way as is Fuddruckers on the east coast. You're paying for their gimmick, not their quality.
First of all, Fat Burger sucks. At least in LA. However, Bob made a great point that's a whole world is turned into airport and movie theater pricing for basic fast food. The only decent thing at Fat Burger if you're training and want something healthy, is to order a double chicken breast on wheat which just mustard. Not the tastiest, but if you're in a bind good amount of protein, hardly any carbs.
A Fatburger opened up in my town of Pasadena in an old Taco Bell. It was fifteen years ago, and nobody went there. It was no good either. Now it's a .....wait for it. Drive in Starbucks. OVER RATED Burger. The Original in Beverly Hills was great.
Was craving a Carls Jr double western bacon cheeseburger the other day. Ordered the spicy version. The burger alone was just over $14.🤯. Central California. Rediculous
@clubmogambo3214 you're mixing up Fatburger with Whataburger (what OP asked). The latter only has one location and it's on the Strip by the Waldorf Astoria.
Weird the prices in Vegas are the exact same for the prices up here in Canada. Even more weird is that store is using an outdated menu. Unfortunate the management of this company is incompetent. Great food, but definitely expensive.
Easy, convenience, you are paying for the convenience of not having to leave the park and to go find food elsewhere. Which is why a lot of us on the poorer side growing up would literally pack a lunch and go out to the car to eat it and pretty much buy no food in the park. Prices were insane for in park food items back then, mind melting prices now I would imagine, since even place like McDonald's charges an arm and a leg now. So glad I was taught how to cook well growing up, would be hell these days to be dependent on expensive food from takeout and fast food. The beauty of being able to cook well, yeah you can spend a little more and cook some really awesome stuff, but even when you have to cut back and be cheaper on what you buy, you can turn even cheaper food and ingredients into something pretty tasty. The fact so many of these fast food places are able to stay in business atm with the amount they charge and smaller portion sizes just shows you addicted to convenience most Americans are and how few of them are able to cook for themselves or their family. For intelligent people fast food is just something you get if you're on a road trip and just need to pop in for quick food and keep moving or once in awhile to treat yourself to something other then your own cooking or family's cooking. Mcdonalds is hot garbage, but once in awhile it hits the spot or insert whatever fast food you enjoy. One of the more recent shocking experiences was 3 dollars for a single hashbrown which has shrunk in size and tastes no where near as good as they used to taste. It's pretty much every fast food for now that has gone insane with prices, oddly enough in and out burger has the same quality as always and once was the more expensive place to eat fast food wise, is now literally the cheapest.
This was an all time video. Not sure how fat burger is 16 dollars and how they sell enough to stay in business. I guess they can lose on 1/3 of customer base and bring in a better bottom line. It looks like a 10 dollar burger for the new Las Vegas pricing.
It is truly incredible how these "upscale" burger places create the illusion that they're upscale and attempt to justify 20-25 dollars for a piece of ground beef between two pieces of bread.
rat is good eating if you know how to cook it. free food. just make sure you get a black char on it. yum yum yum even better with some corn bread and greens.👍🙂 Semper Fi.
The meat to ingredient ratio is appalling. Went there yesterday in Orlando. There is no way in hell you will get value even though the burger is amazing. I tried taking half the ingredients off and it was damn good, but then your diminishing the supposed value of it.
he got a combo and added cheddar cheese and ordered a $7 milkshake...the burger alone w/o drink and fries was probably $9 or so looked more like a $5 burger

Remember those condiment containers are absolutely filthy from other people's hands, best to grab it with a napkin.
Always love your food reviews Bob!!
It seems that every burger is now $20. I live in Manhattan and have a nice convenience store/bodega a block away. They make great burgers and sandwiches and are reasonable.
6 oz Cheesburger
Lettuce
Tomato
Fries
$9.00
Without fries $6.00
Is it the best burger I've ever had? No, but it's very good.
Village pub is right up the street...way better food....owned by Ellis Island
a mcdonals large fries is 6$ now, INSANE
Another rip off.
That’s the million dollar question Bob. It’s crazy.
Say Bob try the new Whataburger on the strip. It's from TEXAS
As it happens, Fatburger's founder lived in Texas for 35 years before moving to Los Angeles and a few years later started her burger stand.
The shake by itself was more than the fatburger
Look again, $6.89. I doubt Bob got the vegan version. He's not lactose intolerant. He was just pointing the price of it and the impossible burger option prices.
The price gouging is ridiculous 🙄 that was a $10 meal tops
Maybe it’s got something to do with how much they have to pay for rent, land taxes etc
Those prices are like a legal mugging !
Spot on about the airport/movie theatre pricing! I live in the UK & that’s the same. £6 milkshakes, £20 burgers. Basic KFC meals now £10 (were about £6 before Covid times). Can of Coke £1.10.. it’s all gone stupid!
We have a Fatburger in Buena Park, California.
It’s good but very pricey! They used to have a Tuesday deal… but not anymore.
Remember when Vegas had cheap rooms and cheaper foods??
Grrr…inflation sux
Greed sucks more!
I'm surprised you dont have your own tire changer and balancer.. the machines are pretty cheap and saves you so much time, not having to run around juggling tires. But yeah $20 for a basic fast food burger meal is bunk.. Now adays sit down full service places are cheaper even with a decent tip.
Half of the bun ingredients are probably banned in Europe
Everything banned in Europe is banned for good reason - and everything legal in the US is only legal because of corruption.
you are 100%correct. it’s becoming more and more crazy everywhere you go
Well, here's the thing. Fatburger has been an institution here in SoCal since the 1950s. The burgers are very good and they use high-quality ingredients. An In-N-Out double double with fries and a drink is $10.35. Fat Burger is playing us for fools.
There’s not a drink in a bottle at 7-Eleven under four dollars
You keep saying a $16 burger... I mean it does include fries and a drink.
Yeah, the "meal" that would usually be about $5.
Most fast food burgers were a standard $1, with the premium versions being $2 or $3, with the meal being about $5 or so.

It would be one thing if wages were keeping up with inflation, but it’s not. When you have 2 teenagers, it’s even worse. America is in a sad place.
I agree, price is way out of line!
WHEN will it ever get back to normal. I hate to think of this being our new normal right on...😒
It is. The only things that will come down when Trump wins is gas prices and grocery prices.
There was a Fatburger here in Wichita, KS and it just closed permanently yesterday. It had been opened for only 2 years. Two things worked against it: It was in a horrible location and the price was too high in this city.
i was the 88 like, back 2 the future 1 2 & 3 are free on youtube right now! thx bob!!!
I am 70 , When I was kid ,a Whopper at BK was 39 cents ! My mother would give me a Dollar and I would get a Whopper ,fries and a Coke !

Only places for justified increases in price are remote places. Islands, mountain towns, etc.

Greetings Bob,
For something different, i suggest 888 Korean BBQ on Spring Mountain. One of the best KBBQ i ever had-
Like you sid, they have always been overpriced. I would go to Five guys for that price and it would be less.
Years ago in the 70s and 80s, I frequent the Fatburger at Westwood Village next to UCLA back then It wasn’t expensive always ordered mine charbroiled.
Fatburgers in the 80s/90s in LA was classic. And they were not that expensive then
people who see the price clearly displayed and then buy the food anyway and then complain about it for a week kill me. people are all over social media complaining about McDs prices but McDs is still pulling down record profits. stop buying 20 dollar burgers and theyll stop selling them. stay home and cook you a big pot of pinto beans...youll be richer and healthier .the solution is simple really but most of us are just too lazy to soak pintos and peel taters.
3:47 in california double double fries and drink $11 i’d rather eat in and out
Mcdonalds #7 2 cheese burger combo is the same price $11
only place to go anymore is...IN and Out. #1- 10 bucks all day everyday and puts fat burger to shame.
As long as people keep paying this price they'll keep charging it.
In and out still better
Vince said you could get a double cheese with fries for $2.95 though
For 20 bucks, I would want truffle, eggs, bacon, cloth napkins, and table service.
We've got a steak house here that has an amazing ten dollar cheeseburger and fries on the lunch menu. It's gourmet food.
Of course the burger is expensive, when California increases minimum wage is $20 an hour, what do you expect? CA burger chain, has to make money.
Shake Shack is the same price as FatBurger and Half the Size.
Good, but another rip off.
It’s simple. Ice cube dropped it in a song and I will be eating farburger in US. Mike drop.

But why should a burger be more expensive at Disneyland? At the heart of it all, a burger is just a burger. Corporate greed is what it truly is!
That’s Bidenomics for you. 4 years ago these fast food burgers meals were not $26 with a shake.
Corporations should stay out of the food business. The best food in America is at Family owned restaurants.
