Sam seems like he hasn't even had his morning Jazz Daredevil Whiskey Highball yet.
I heard it is hand canned!
😆
I would listen to a weekly podcast of these two just being passive aggressive toward each other I love it so much. Almost as much as I love the comments without fail of people not getting the bit
The suspense of using passive aggressive banter is waiting for the straw that breaks the camel's back. The lack of downright devolution into name calling, contempt, and disrespect like right-wing IDW's jibbering heads spew is refreshing.
It does take a page from vaudeville and classic comedy duos like Abbott and Costello a bit, the polished faux charm and the kid gloved verbal slights. Although, only vaguely remembering the original interview 5 years ago, I am not quite convinced this was all schtick. Cheers! Lol
These guys have known each other since school.
I’m in! The milkshake to foil the political salty fries ... there’s a commitment I could make.
😂😂😂💯💯💯 would subscribe immediately
There are bits and there are bits...comedy is comedy because it feigns ironic distance when in reality there is a knife's edge of cold truth cutting through the heart of the joke. You see it in a certain deadness in the gaze of Mr. Seder and in the crazed genius of Mr. Benjamin as he rotates more and more unsteadily on his axis. Yes, on the surface below the surface you see this veneer of friendship, but you also see how thin it is and what it is resting over....a turgid pool of id, and all the horror that implies. You think you are in on the joke, but apparently the joke is in on you.
"The last time I made an album, you were in your forties." hahahaha
Watching Sam expertly keep it together through Jon's genius mock indignation was so damn entertaining
Hugo and Bob were never meant to be anything other than enemies.
"based on the way you're arguing, i'm not surprised by that..."😄
I love their passive-aggressive sniping while Sam tries to keep a straight face.
Daddy, why is the astronaut hurting music?
"...that's not how soundtracks work..." Sam almost lost it. LOL.
literally Bob and Hugo ripping on each other 🤣🤣🤣
Did anyone else notice that he turned the synthesizer off right before playing? 😹
Yes, I noticed!
Yes!
Only dozens of other people 🙄
This episode of Bobs Burgers is weird
No it's an Archer episode.
@@derrickgoodman8434 thats a funny way to spell Home Movies
Those two just made one of the most legendary troll ever. Ever. This is absolutely fantastic. A lesson in humor.
glad this popped back up after the rollout of john's fizzy booze
I hope when the world ends all forms of music are destroyed except these albums and that they are what future archeologists base their entire understanding of us around.
Every thing I know about martial arts, I learned from Judah Freelander. Everything I know about jazz, I learned studying from H John Benjamin. That's why I know that I *Know* everything.
This is what two masters of passive aggression going at it 1000 percent looks like people.
I love how Sam acts like he doesn't care for Jon.
Jon Benjamin looks so much younger on Archer. He’s really let himself go during this pandemic.
*LOL!* Because it's animated! *I see what you did there.*
You know where he looks even younger? On Family Guy, albeit, he's just as overweight on FG as he is in real life. Except, the kid he's playing is roughly 20-30 years younger than his actual self.
@@uncletom356 Who does he play on Family Guy?
@@Inazarab Carl, the bizarre manager of the convenient store. I imagine it's Family Guy's "equivalent" to the Comic Book Guy. But H. Jon Benjamin's voice is the same in every role because it's so awesome -- unlike the Comic Book Guy reference. Carl (the character) isn't in a ton of episodes, but he's quite funny in a very puerile way. Albeit, some of the best comedy is about stuff we used to laugh hysterically when we were 10-16 years old, ha.
The Jazz Daredevil is the most important and innovative musicians in recent history. If you don't like it then you don't understand jazz .😎
17:20-17:58 Im dying!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ....We’re certainly not gonna get copywrited, it’s undiscernable.... omg love this!
If you listen to this (rather than watching) it sounds like the most confusing alternate reality Bobs Burgers episode ever.
It took me way too long to realise this was banter
They do this a lot. Its always amazing lol
Thanks for clarifying. Usually sam cant keep a straight face when doing something like this which had me wondering. It was really funny.
Horrible music 🎶
Oh god, I laughed hard at that chariots of fire rendition .. 😄
1:27 I love how Jon Benjamin begins by *TURNING OFF* his sound
Anyone notice Jon turned the piano off before they started the song?
At 17:20, Sammy ALMOST breaks. I think he realized how good his "disgust" face was and couldn't help himself. 🤣😂😅🤣
Even the power button goes off instead of on.
The attention to detail to get everything wrong.
20:16 Sam's reaction to Axel F kills me every time.
at the risk of giving the joke away - this is hilarious! I miss Michael Brooks' laughter that would punctuate the punchlines.
He would have broken a microphone with the sound of his laughter at, "I would never have been able to use them if I could play."
Who would thought 🤔 jazz daredevil has his own drink now!
"people in the jazz community i imagine have already learned their leasson" that got me
Me: *a person in the jazz community *
*laughing at the fact you've never heard Hans Groiner and thinking THIS is it*
Sam you don’t know shit about new jazz and that’s clear here. Keep rocking jazz daredevil!
He got a f-cking conductor and a whole orchestra XD
I'm so glad those people got work T~T
There is no way in hell I'd be able to keep a straight face if I was in a conversation with either of these two, let alone both.
H jon benjamin is the most underrated comedian ever
It makes it even funnier watching Sam trying to hold it together
This saga is definitely a highlight of my youtube experience.
This may be the greatest recorded interview In the history of sound.
“I mean that’s how I made the album. I woulda never been able to make the album if was able to play (duh implied)”😂😂😂
i admire Jon's approach, there is something there I think worth contemplating. Napolean gifted the Persian Shah with a piano back in the day. The Persians were like what the hell is this? They redid the tuning on it to accomodate their own taste and produced some of the most beautiful piano music I've ever heard. Check out persian tuned piano if you don't believe me.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Is there a Hugo the Health inspector Covid rap?
H Jon Benjamin will always only be Coach McGuirk and Jason to me 🙌🏻
He'll always be a soup can in WHAS and a football coach cameo in Not Another Teen Movie to me... but the burning question is does he still have a van?
Jon Benjamin correcting Sam on how to say "van Gogh" is a Moog.
Snark Level: Spicy
🤣🤣💀💀💀
All i hear is Bob Belcher being mildly irritated
That's not how soundtracks work - H. Jon Benjamin ❤️
Jon Benjamin needs to play Moogfest 2021
This whole interview is like a Larry David bit.
When Sam and Jon dish my day goes from terrible to okay.
This gave me the laugh medicine I required today, well played H. and Sam!
Some of those notes were dead on
That's the frustratingly hilarious part... 😆
I could listen to you two take the piss out of each other all day. Start a podcast already!
This is funny because it reminds me of my own musical abilities
Not sure what I clicked on..also not sure if the weed has anything to do with it..but this shit was funny af..
With Jon Benjamin that is a guarantee.
i missed the funny part
@Critique Everything how do you know my taste in music?
It's not necessary... but it helps.
Why are y’all calling Coach McGuirk something named Archer?
I don’t know why they’d give Jason cranial cap like that
Especially Fenton Mulley should know better in this interview.
This is Coach McGurk teaching music because he can't play soccer in the snow!
That Moog One though
Shits fire
1:25 He turns the synth OFF
ok nerd
Arguably a good interview
If you can, try to catch the Portsmouth Sinfonia playing Also Sprach Zarathustra - they were an Art College collective of amateur's trying in earnest to play this classical standard; it's one of the funniest things ever because it was an experiment done in all seriousness.
I love when he talks to Archer.
Its so great when he has Bob Belcher on
I mean the guy has a van!
I can't believe that Sam doesn't call HJB out on his pronunciation of Moog.
I smiled so hard when i saw this. It didn’t disappoint 🤣. Love your guys’ banter.
Whats really great this time around is that the Moog he's using is their incredibly powerful and coveted flagship model which costs almost $9,000.
What?! Wow - I didn’t know you could tell from listening to this. So cool to know!
@@vthyaga well, you can't actually tell from listening, he might as well be using a yaaha student keyboard. But I know what those synths look like lol.
Place your bets:
"The Winds of Winter" vs. H Jon Benjamin's 3rd album - which comes out first?
Winds of Winter is never coming out. Nor is the third book in the Kingkiller Chronicles. Bullshitting ass authors.
4:46 that’s the best Jon Benjamin voice
I didn't think it was possible to love John anymore but this is amazing
I was waiting for Bob to yell at the kids and Linda
Interrupting his own introduction... God damn, this is gonna be good!
These interviews always crack me up. Thanks guys
lol, i love H. jon benjamin...🥰
Reminds me of the Paul Gilbert space ship live video, except its only one person in a space suit
Mr Benjamin and Eugene Mirman did that great 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth' spoof that is excellent. I've only forgotten about him once or twice since. But I won't this time.
All I can hear is Archer... hahaha. They are super close friends.
Or Bob Belcher
@@derrickgoodman8434 that's what I keep hearing. Bob's burgers.
I don't know wtf an Archer is. But Bob's burgers is famous.
@@gilbertperez3755
Archer was an FX cartoon with him as the main character, bumbling spy like a cartoon Get Smart. Google Get Smart if you're a millennial.
Derrick Goodman you can be a millennial and still know who Don Adams is as agent 86... 😋. He was also the voice of Inspector Gadget.
"did you, like, have an experience with Chariots of Fire that i don't know about..."!!
these really remind me of Philly Boy Roy calling in to The Best Show w/ Tom Scharpling.
less ridiculous character of course, but still so dumb & dry.
gr8 stuff!
I cried real tears from laughter. Thank you both for alleviating my quarantine depression.
They've never sounded so much like an adult Fenton Mewley passive aggressively interviewing an "adult" Jason Panopolis.
Ha ha ha, very few will get this, but I appreciated it.
@@adamscofield28 Thanks man. Yeah, not fishing for mass appeal, so it's all good. To me, this project sounded like a total "Jason idea" while I was listening to Jon explain/justify it. After that, Jason and Fenton was all I could hear. If one or two other people go, "hey yeah, it does have that vibe", or, "I was thinking the same thing" then my comment has done its job.
spot on
Emo Phillips was great on that show
In sams defense, Fenton only really ever cared about the lighting.
In this interview, Sam is to H John Benjamin what Ben Shapiro is to Cardi B (ok, almost). Albeit, Jazz Daredevil is a terrible reproduction of other's music, but it is art in the sense that he created it. It might actually be more difficult to play Benjamin's music. Musical entropy is really order in disguise. A thought provoking musical production
Love the Shapiro/B comparison! And yeah, I think Jon is playing down that he COULD do it “right,” and I’m sure that would be great and all, but then where’s the Benjamin-having-some-awesome-alone-time quality that some of us crave? Not sure I could actually listen to the sounds of instruments in pain, but for H Jon, I’d try. For a minute.
Wow. What an artist. Thank you for bringing this to your audience.
why is Fenton so angry at coach? what is happening
Fenton doesn't want to play soccer today
It's like playing the DOOM OST while playing Little Big Planet or something like that lol
Now this.....this is jazz
"the cheese has gone bad." Love it.
This made me laugh so hard I cried.
I listened to the songs on spotify and they are truly next level comedy
Lol an old married couple
Just needs some barking dogs for the vocals and I'm guessing it'sgoing to be a hit.
it is like he's a grown up Gene Belcher
Hes one of the voices on the show. The short health inspector
@@Chris-pq6hz he’s talking about H. Jon Benjamin in regards to his playing.
@@KelKilimanjaro OH, not sure how I didn't make that connection.
He plays Hugo.
Coach mcgirk hates jazz. Haha. Brutal interview.
24:31 LOL LOL LOL
Jon Benjamin's losing it, bro.
1:26 he turns the power OFF. Nice touch.
Im literally wearing an Archer shirt while watching this
1:27 HE FLIPPED THE SWITCH THE WRONG WAY GGAAAAAAHHHHHH
4 minutes into this video, and I LOVE Jon Benjamin. 5 minutes in, and I love him even more.
Brink back Coach McGirk!!!!!!!!!!!!
Axel F lmaoooo
I was DYING when Jon's piano came on while Sam was talking 😆😆
I envy the confidence of these kinds of people, I do nothing but give props. You don't have to be good to do anything, competence will come with practice.
hilarious. i love this interview.
Very clever, both of you.
