This is one of the best, most efficient longplays I have ever seen, although even you were not able to beat Fireman without taking damage! Is that even possible though? Actually, I merely managed this game through when I was a kid
Mega Man was before a fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii u. His Mega Buster and special weapons are projectile attacks from the previous Mega Man games.
The original classic of the series. I was in elementary in 1988. My best friend talked about this game non stop. We both spoke of video games and going through Nintendo power in after school, drawing and joking around and talking about mega man. That I ended up getting mega man 2 by my dad one afternoon. Took that shit to school to show it off even 😂. The game was my favorite game from NES. From there then on I got every mega man game that came out in its release date order either for birthday, Christmas or obsessing and driving my dad crazy to get it for me and would surprise me with it randomly when I arrived home with the game in my room form Sears or toys r us. Good times. Still recall getting the games as if it was last year, Sears upstairs had the Nintendo section which was like a gold mine whenever you saw that nintendo logo hanging over head in the distance through all the clothes rack. The games were all displayed in the locked glass cases surrounding the clerk and all around it was always packed with kids and their dads looking through the glass for their favorite or next title and waiting their turn for the clerk to come around to tend to you. It was like a bar and getting the bartenders attention You were lucky enough if you got the last game that was seen in display case. Sometimes a family would get it right before you. Nowadays you go to target or Walmart or whatever and the video game section is missing that magic from yesteryear. And at toys r us, was always awesome to get your copy of a NES game. It was exciting as shit. Going through the video game isle with hundreds of NES games box photos on the walk and under each box set was a plastic transparent index holder with the some ticket with game number and you would grab one and take it to the back where there was a window and a worker would take your ticket snd bring out the game and you pay up front. If there was no tickets left in the plastic index card holder, it meant the game was sold out. It crushed every boy im sure when they came to grab a ticket only to learn the game is not available and you keep coming back to store to see when the the tickets are stocked full under your games photo. Good times simple times that today’s generation won’t see or appreciate. Those were the days we really appreciated and worked for what we want and took care of it snd took nothing for granted! Mega man 1 was actually my last MM game I got after MM6. Only because I played it a ton of times at that friends house while I had the rest of the saga at home and didn’t feel the need to buy it until you never saw it available again during the 90’s as games were constantly turned over and taken out of stores…but when I got older and internet was born, ebay was discovered and I purchased mm1 finally for collector reason. Hated that I had that missing title.
The first time i played this and got to a ladder, i did'nt understand that it was a ladder and i just got stuck there for hours trying to figure out. Hahaha good old days!!!
Jonathan Martin Yep. Boomerang Cutter is likely to be based on Rolling Cutter, Cut Man's weapon. I even confuse Rolling Cutter with Boomerang Cutter often lol.
The coolest part about this game is the copy robot but we wouldn’t see that until MegaMan powered up on the PlayStation portable which is basically MegaMan one on steroids
To everyone who thinks that this is tool-assisted: First of all TAS stands for tool-assisted speedrun. If this was a true speedrun it would be quicker. A lot quicker. There is nothing here that could not have been done by a human who knows what he's doing. The only tool that was almost certainly used here was an emulator and the turbo function of said emulator. While it was certainly possible that he used some form of tool assistance it would have to be a very slow and sloppy form. Secondly TAS software does not come with emulators. Thirdly TAS software is always custom built for the game it is to be used on making it impossible for it to come with emulators as emulators are generally for all games on a given system. This concludes my rant.
This is not assisted... I used to beat this game without taking any damage on any level. It wasn't that difficult a game. It's all about the sequence of bosses and using which weapon against which. And although this wasn't a perfect run through, it still was the correct order of bosses.
I was just playing this earlier, and even though I have completed MM2, this is still a challenge to play, and I love it! MM is one of those games where you have to learn how to play it well to play it at all, (Ninja Gaiden is another great example) which is why it's so satisfying to complete.
I think I understand each Robot Master’s Weakness. Mega Buster > Hyper Bomb This is because the bullets being shot from Mega Man’s Mega Buster consist of solar energy. Since it is made of the same energy being emitted from the sun, and since the sun is made out of flames, it would explain why Bomb Man is weak to the Mega Buster because if a bomb were to be put on fire, it would produce more powerful explosions, much more powerful that not even Bomb Man can withstand it. Hyper Bomb > Super Arm This is because Hyper Bombs are projectiles, and since Guts Man relies heavily on physical strength, he wouldn’t be able to get close to Mega Man if he keeps bumping into explosions. He could also be weak to it because Bombs can explode and demolish the debris being launched at Mega Man upon contact, Super Arm > Rolling Cutter This is because when using Super Arm, Mega Man launches debris. Assuming the debris are entirely made out of rocks, this would explain why Cut Man would be weak to it because just like in Rock Paper Scissors, Rock always crushes Scissors. Rolling Cutter > Thunder Beam This is because electricity usually travels through wires, but they can’t travel if the wires are cut. Assuming that Elec Man’s body is connected through wires, this would explain his weakness to Rolling Cutter because he would be unable to use Thunder Beam on Mega Man if the wires that give him electricity are cut. Thunder Beam > Ice Slasher This is because Ice is usually composed of water, and when water contacts electricity, it would be electrocuted. Ice Man could also be weak to Thunder Beam because when lighting strikes, it can cause fire, and fire melts ice. Ice Slasher > Fire Storm This is because when Ice comes into contact with Fire, it melts, but if the ice is bigger than the fire, the water that leaks from the melted ice would then extinguish the fire, which explains Fire Man’s weakness to Ice Slasher.
Well you certainly gave that much thought. Commendable! Although I never understood why Spark Mandrill was weak to Ice, when in *this* game it's Iceman who's weak to electricity.
Good one but Mega Buster isn't really Bomb Man's weakness. It does as much damage to him as it does to Cutman. They're just kinda wimpy. The proper one is Fire Storm, to light Bomb Man's fuse and blow him up prematurely
Kenny Rogers Yep. And more trouble is when the game lags. I played the Rockman Megaworld version of Rockman 1 and it's super laggy at the Yellow Devil Fight.
Yellow devil is way to hard to beat! You have to study and practice his attacks for at least an hour. (Ain't nobody got time for that!) "Sigh" I cheated. "bows head in shame"
Here is the Boss Order I do Every time when I play this game 1. Cut Man (With Mega Buster) 2. Elec Man (With Rolling Cutter) 3. Ice Man (With Thunder Beam) 4. Fire Man (With Ice Slasher) 5. Bomb Man (With Fire Storm) 6. Gus Man (With Hyper Bomb) 7. Yellow Devil (With Thunder Beam) 8. Copy Robot (With Fire Storm, Mega Buster, and Thunder Beam) 9. CWU-01P (With Super Arm and Mega Buster) 10. Wily Machine Form 1 (With Fire Storm) 11. Wily Machine Form 2 (With Thunder Beam, Rolling Cutter)
I first played this game on Mega Man Legacy Collection. This game was hard.. really hard! I can't even count how many game overs I got. I had to use save states to get through the entire game. I remember being so pissed off the entire time. But when I beat Dr. Wily, I remember feeling relieved. But still, I couldn't believe how hard this game was.
Here's a top 10 list of my favorite robot masters from the series: 1. Elecman 2.iceman 3.fireman 4.bubbleman 5.magnetman 6.cutman 7.Galaxyman 8.strikeman 9.cloudman 10.dustman

Daniel Cortez because it's too obvious that he is using tas controllers, you find TAS in every nes emulator, look at my channel, i made a gameplay of contra in NES without TAS
Exactly how I feel. It's technically a longplay because you didn't skip any areas, but it doesn't feel like a longway becuase you don't go even an inch out of your way for anything - not to kill enemies, not for health/weapon power-ups, not for extra lives, not even to grab the Yashichi in the last stage - instead just racing forward trying to get to the end as quickly as possible.

Hi WoL I'm creating a portfolio reel for scoring and sound designing for video games. I'm putting some of the main games in each generations in it. Is it okay if I use part of this video for my portfolio? Thank you.

I beat Cut Man and just beat Bomb Man finally. I just started really getting into beating the series. On to Guts Man I suppose. Easily a top game for me I just cannot express how amazing this are.
How can someone tell me the right way to beat doctor willy? I read that willy is weak to p buster but when I shoot willy when its p buster selected he doesn't hurt him very much.
+Frog Licker Also how to beat up cutman, gutsman, iceman, bombman, fireman, elecman? I never got to fight them before my bed time came and had to go to sleep! I feel so nostalgic about this game but never get to beat it before bed time!
Jav T Well, you MUST use the Magnet Beam in the first level of Wily's castle, but with enough practice, you should be able to beat all the bosses with just the mega buster, but it's been years since I played this, so I don't really remember if you can damage all of them with just that.
Im a big fan of your channel, but i got a question, i live in Europe and have the Mega Man 1 PAL version and the NES PAL, i always wonderes, is it just me or does the game run slower on the PAL version ?
LittleDeez i just finished the game without using any glitch, that was my first megaman lol.. But Yellow Devil is hard but when you have the timing it's pretty easy to beat him.. But fuck that round 2 versus Fireman, i just hate him, too hard, i always get killed by Gutsman after him..
Me when playing Mega Man 1: Yellow Devil: Pfft, easy, why do they even call him hard? Bomb-Fire-Ice-Guts Men at the final stage: OH MY FUCKING GOD, I HATE ALL OF YOU!!!!
Cutman first. I always go Cutman first. It's the easiest level. Very well done, congrats! I managed to finish this game once. And that was enough for me. Que mierda hacemos ahora ? He he.. Hablamos de este videojuego! Saludos
22:25,I always HATED that thing,to defeat it you had to have luck rather than skill. Though the best strategy is to leave those bricks alone and use them as platforms,as shown in the video.
Finally a longplay that picks Bomb Man first. Thought I was crazy.
Well, he's the easiest. I did too.
Nah Fireman was easiest
Ness Itoi hah cutman is
Nah elecman was the easiest
Cut Man stage and boss are probably the easiest, but starting with it does no favours.
That's crazy that ppl can beat this game in a half hour. It took me hours of trial and error and memorizing patterns. By far the hardest megaman game! I thought the game/system was gonna freeze or burnout I was playing so long. I did it! What satisfaction!
I'm sure the individual playing this had already played through the game many times before doing this play through.
I actually finish Megaman 2 within a day
Beating this game was one of my proudest moments of childhood, and also gave me the sense that I was getting much better at video games.
Took me a week to finish it, between my brother and I
This is the game that gave birth to the franchise. And boy this franchise has had quite a legacy.
With millions of spin offs too
Happy 30th Anniversary Mega Man

Incredible! Cut Mans' cutting blades are like the Boomerang Cutter weapon that Boomer Kuwanger
used in Mega Man X SNES.
Jonathan Martin Yep. Boomerang Cutter is likely to be based on Rolling Cutter, Cut Man's weapon.
I even confuse Rolling Cutter with Boomerang Cutter often lol.

Hard to believe that back then a game like this was considered a long one to play...nowadays you can get through it in less than half an hour...

KimCuongBatHoai Your right he is A robot or something and ChipsterDoesMinecraft I m sure that yes

I think I understand each Robot Master’s Weakness.
Mega Buster > Hyper Bomb
This is because the bullets being shot from Mega Man’s Mega Buster consist of solar energy. Since it is made of the same energy being emitted from the sun, and since the sun is made out of flames, it would explain why Bomb Man is weak to the Mega Buster because if a bomb were to be put on fire, it would produce more powerful explosions, much more powerful that not even Bomb Man can withstand it.
Hyper Bomb > Super Arm
This is because Hyper Bombs are projectiles, and since Guts Man relies heavily on physical strength, he wouldn’t be able to get close to Mega Man if he keeps bumping into explosions. He could also be weak to it because Bombs can explode and demolish the debris being launched at Mega Man upon contact,
Super Arm > Rolling Cutter
This is because when using Super Arm, Mega Man launches debris. Assuming the debris are entirely made out of rocks, this would explain why Cut Man would be weak to it because just like in Rock Paper Scissors, Rock always crushes Scissors.
Rolling Cutter > Thunder Beam
This is because electricity usually travels through wires, but they can’t travel if the wires are cut. Assuming that Elec Man’s body is connected through wires, this would explain his weakness to Rolling Cutter because he would be unable to use Thunder Beam on Mega Man if the wires that give him electricity are cut.
Thunder Beam > Ice Slasher
This is because Ice is usually composed of water, and when water contacts electricity, it would be electrocuted. Ice Man could also be weak to Thunder Beam because when lighting strikes, it can cause fire, and fire melts ice.
Ice Slasher > Fire Storm
This is because when Ice comes into contact with Fire, it melts, but if the ice is bigger than the fire, the water that leaks from the melted ice would then extinguish the fire, which explains Fire Man’s weakness to Ice Slasher.

This use to be my #1 game... I could go through it without taking ANY (zero) damage. And yes, unassisted!!! It's all about the order in which you select the bosses.
My humble Respects To you,you Showcase How Easy Gutsman Stage is While most Players Including Me Struggle with it alot,Good work! 👍
Hi WoL I'm creating a portfolio reel for scoring and sound designing for video games. I'm putting some of the main games in each generations in it. Is it okay if I use part of this video for my portfolio? Thank you.
Wow... this is incredible, almost a perfect run. Seriously, you make my brother look like a complete noob at this game. :P
***** Well, IMO, that kinda defeats the purpose of "longplay"
ZPokemonfanA Agreed.

Eu não sei por que tanta negatividade esta longplay praticamente perfeito

The birth of a legend....
Famtomerc dr.light approves of this
Ah, the very first Mega Man. Oh the memories....
¿sigues vivo?
Its ridiculous how powerful the Thunder Beam is.
I love playing these games even though I am not good enough to beat them :(
this is an amazing game
Aww my childhood
Were you going for like a No Coffee Break bonus in this? ( If you don't what I'm talking about play Megaman 9 or 10)
is ti possible without the special poweres?
Jav T Well, you MUST use the Magnet Beam in the first level of Wily's castle, but with enough practice, you should be able to beat all the bosses with just the mega buster, but it's been years since I played this, so I don't really remember if you can damage all of them with just that.
I learned to beat the robot masters with the default weapon because I'm lazy. Lol
@@ZPokemonfanA don't forget the required use of Super Arm or Thunder Beam to access Wily's Fortress in the first place.
@@load-bearingcoconut5586 and to get Magnet Beam as well. but yeah, i did post this like 4 years ago sooo...
these flying enemies? what does remind you of? medusa's head in every castlevania game?
Im a big fan of your channel, but i got a question, i live in Europe and have the Mega Man 1 PAL version and the NES PAL, i always wonderes, is it just me or does the game run slower on the PAL version ?
Its because PAL uses 50hz
NTSC version runs on 60hz which is faster
@@Silvester2K I figured it out after seven years XD
You’re a Megaman god if you beat the yellow devil without the pause glitch
LittleDeez i just finished the game without using any glitch, that was my first megaman lol.. But Yellow Devil is hard but when you have the timing it's pretty easy to beat him.. But fuck that round 2 versus Fireman, i just hate him, too hard, i always get killed by Gutsman after him..
18:46 it's the ghost of yellow devil!
18:46?
Me when playing Mega Man 1:
Yellow Devil: Pfft, easy, why do they even call him hard?
Bomb-Fire-Ice-Guts Men at the final stage: OH MY FUCKING GOD, I HATE ALL OF YOU!!!!
how do you not pause n unpause yellow devil with electro man
Press the select button.
don't drink E tanks before lunch megaman!
Cutman first. I always go Cutman first. It's the easiest level. Very well done, congrats! I managed to finish this game once. And that was enough for me. Que mierda hacemos ahora ? He he.. Hablamos de este videojuego! Saludos
Same here, first time I played I played cutman’s stage first.
Nah, do Bombman first.
This game is so cute
ha, nobody can beat a megaman stage without taking a hi- oh.
What Do You Use To Record?
Probably the recorder built in emulator.
22:25,I always HATED that thing,to defeat it you had to have luck rather than skill.
Though the best strategy is to leave those bricks alone and use them as platforms,as shown in the video.
