Everybody seems to be professional carpenters and forget that not everyone else automatically knows every tip and trick there is for using tools and speed squares. God forbid people have the opportunity to learn visually through an easy means of access to information and instructional videos. Thanks for the video! While I already knew about using a speed square to get a nice, perpendicular crosscut on some lumber, my head isn't so far up my own rear to realize not everyone knows these sorts of things. We all have to start somewhere. Thanks for the videos!
thank you SO much for this. completing a DIY project and every video has made me feel like the only way to get this would be buying a circular saw AND a miter saw! I knew there had to be a way to do this without purchasing both.
My grandpa often uses a square when making cuts with a circular saw to keep cuts flush. I do alot of carpentry and am always incorporating tips and tricks but I always forget to do this one!
If you need a square to hold your saw straight you shouldn't be touching a f****** saw... You should be going and putting on your dress and playing with your dollies...
Hey Jeff Knowing what to touch and what not to touch is a big part of it. What does the saying go you can’t make an omelette without breaking wait no don’t use that one. Thanks for watching
Not every saw has this feature. First time saw buyers should look for this feature. Unless you plan to buy a sliding compound miter saw and a table saw, it's good to be able to make angled cross cuts and rip cuts with a circular saw. It also helps if you don't have to lug heavy saws to different locations.
@@homemend I use the same saw as you, had it for years and it just won't die!, have had a few of the Chinese batteries literally burst into flames while using it though 🤣🤣
No safety glasses then crouches down with his face near the saw. So he can be blinded by debris. Maybe you shouldn’t be trying to teach people if you aren’t going to use even the most basic safety measures.
@Home Mender there is never just one miter cut... My miter is super compact and batt powered .. Takes the exact same time as your saw took to get out.. 😂
@@homemend The saw literally says 45° on the table gauge. What else could that mean? 🤦🏽♂️ c’mon man If someone does not know what 45° means then this whole video is useless to them anyway but whatever floats your boat👍.
I’m a soccer player mr Justin bebier I didn’t know that at one point had to learn because working at a tool store bit levas like you would be offended when the information wasn’t accurate
Pretty sure he's giving tips for people who aren't professional carpenters but rather DIYers or others wanting to do home projects (or even newbies to the trades). Even so, people have YT vids on how to unclog a toilet with a plunger. Not everybody grew up with someone who taught them basic skills or how to work power tools. My uncle told me a story of his daughter's ex-boyfriend in high school who came over and my uncle asked him to help with some digging in the yard and asked if the bf had ever used a shovel before. The kid didn't even know what a shovel was. My uncle could hardly believe his ears. But certain people get hyper-focused on learning computer programming and STEM subjects to compete in his modern world and forget to learn the everyday basics or are just never taught it.

Awesome comment Mr. SF. I appreciate you sharing
I thought my coworker was a damn wizard when he showed me that trick for the first time 😂
Facts 👌🏾 not shame in my game because I didn't know but now I do.
I didn’t know this. Thank you for the video!
That is awesome light skin. Thank you!
Turn your speed square around the other way and it won't want to walk away from you
Way to go Kyle thank you sir
Tip. Flip it and let the large side of the plate on the keeper end. No wobbly cut lines because the plate rides flat.
Thank you sir you rock
What makes this tip so great is his ponytail
You got that right!
thank you SO much for this. completing a DIY project and every video has made me feel like the only way to get this would be buying a circular saw AND a miter saw! I knew there had to be a way to do this without purchasing both.
Absolutely… I would prefer the circular saw however, cutting a lot of angles can be tiresome. You will hope for both :-)
My grandpa often uses a square when making cuts with a circular saw to keep cuts flush. I do alot of carpentry and am always incorporating tips and tricks but I always forget to do this one!
Hey funk. You are not lying sir! This one took me a long time to “get“… Strike a Line, cut the line. Come on man you got this! Thanks for commenting
I CAN DO IT!!!👍😆👍
You got that right
Thank you 🌹
You’re welcome 😊
If you don't know this you shouldn't be touching a saw
Thank you truth
Thought the same thing 🤣
Because you knew this since birth… its clear you were taught nothing… all knowing you are 😂… 🙄
TBH I only knew this in theory, but it's good to see someone actually do it.
If you need a square to hold your saw straight you shouldn't be touching a f****** saw... You should be going and putting on your dress and playing with your dollies...
Thank you!
Right back at you
Wincing as I see you give tips to using a saw with your fingers near the blade, your battery in the saw and your other hand on the saw trigger.
Hey Jeff Knowing what to touch and what not to touch is a big part of it. What does the saying go you can’t make an omelette without breaking wait no don’t use that one. Thanks for watching
wow, thanks for the tip we already know.
Thanks for watching!
That was cool. In the 90’s
Hey Apex. You are dope my friend. Thanks for sharing
@@homemend your awesome man thanks for the video.
Cool
Thank you
I see Paul Wall is following in the footsteps of Vanilla Ice 👍
Love the enthusiasm. Thank you sir
That’s a trick? Good lord, what’s next, you can set the blade height?
Eyes on your own paper. Thanks for watching
Your voice reminds me of John C Reily
Good night and good luck
Pretty cool HM!
Thank you sir. I appreciate the comment
I thought we all learned this when we were like 7..
We did CT. This was a free refresher course. You rocked it
Nice video
Thank you 305!

Thank you, Andre!
Sounds like he's been cutting i-beams with that saw blade
Thanks for watching
It's not a trick it's common sense
Blessed are you sir. Thanks for watching

Awesome input Brooke. Thank you!
What feature 45 been doing this work a long time never seen a saw without being able to bevel it
👑🙏🏿
Thank you my friend
Thanks
You are most welcome
You should hold the square the other way round then it doesn’t push out of alignment
Awesome, thanks for watching
You might not get exactly 45 every time, but putting both pieces together will always get you 90.
You better believe it. Thank you classic.
Engage safety squint!
Nailed it
I've done this for baseboard in a pinch.
In a pinch is the best! Thank you for sharing
Safety glasses !!!!😵💫
Thank you gill
You can cut a bevel but don’t have to set the angle on the saw. The square has a built in 45 angle
Excellent info thank you for sharing
One more cool trick! If you turn your pencil around you can actually use the back end to erase your mistakes!
Hey Mika, have you seen the back of a construction pencil? Thanks for watching.
Spot the man bun.
Thanks for watching
Experts. Let's hear it 😉
Thanks for watching
It's cool on sawhorses but can't do it on the fly all the time so I try not to do it much
Excellent Q
What size is the blade?
Hey hey, this one is a 6 inch
Cool trick... Get a miter saw !!!
It’s not a trick if you have a miter saw. Thanks for watching
"This" we call a speed square and every carpenter does this, and usually when cutting a straight cut aswell just to keep it true.
Absolutely. Thanks for sharing
@@homemend I use the same saw as you, had it for years and it just won't die!, have had a few of the Chinese batteries literally burst into flames while using it though 🤣🤣
60% of the time, it works every time
Thanks for watching
I think that’s what the plate is for. It has those half moon cut outs for that reason. Good info tho
Thank you for sharing
Is that a 12v saw?
No sir that would be the 18
Where's your 45° safety glasses I've got a pair of 45 degree and 90 degree safety glasses
They were off camera. Thanks for watching
This is a trick?? I think you’d better put the saw down before you hurt yourself ponytail 😂
Awesome input Jeff. Thanks for being there
I know it now.
You got that right. Thank you, Brian.
My apprentices do that because they are to lazy to get the miter saw out !
Improvise, adapt, overcome… Thanks for watching
Yeah, that's not a trick. Millions of people have been doing that for decades.
OK Thomas thanks for watching
Tomorrow we tie shoes
Thanks for watching
Discovered the hot water
Thanks for watching

Hey BH. I only use safety gear when needed. Thanks for watching!
What if i set it on stun?
You nailed it
Haha… child’s play
Nailed it
Chop saw
You got that right
That's thinking
Thank you Darth
How is that a cool trick? I mean, wtf?!?! 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for learning with me

Hey Ben I’m rubber your glue whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you! Thanks for watching
Buy a good miter saw.
Awesome suggestion thank you
This is why carpeters don't get along with framers
Nailed it
Am I missing something?
You got that right!
I’m tired of wives making their husbands do videos.
Thanks for watching
Not like every carpenter knows thid
We are all a different learning levels
Wow! No shit!
You nailed it Roger
Or you can use a miter saw like a carpenter would do..
Wood do. Lol and the carpenter wouldn’t bust out the miter saw for one cut :-)
@Home Mender there is never just one miter cut...
My miter is super compact and batt powered ..
Takes the exact same time as your saw took to get out.. 😂
Lol really you need that what a Pretty boy Not a construction worker
I’m glad you think I’m pretty. Thanks for watching. :-)
You don't have to answer every comment, in matter of fact you shouldn't
Why? If I answer every comment that means I have double the comments. Thanks for commenting!
If you needed RUclips for this, you shouldn’t be touching a circular saw trying to cut angles on anything
Everyone’s at a different skill level Peter. Thanks for watching
Omg really! Smh... 😔
🙏🐿
🙄this counts as a “cool trick”?
One more cool trick, if you buy a circular saw and put a blade in it you can use it to cut wood😱.
Hey Kevin yes it does… Some viewers aren’t as “experienced “ as you. Thanks for being there

Right on. Thanks for watching.
Don’t forget personal protection.
Absolutely. Thanks for commenting
Now would u look at that.
Hey thanks for commenting David
Sir I think that your angled 45° 1x4 is possibly offended by being labeled straight...
Lol...
just teasing thanks for the tip!!
I’m right there with you my friend. Thanks for commenting.
Who you are amazing, not...
Hey Jason you’d be surprised what you can do my friend. Thanks for watching
