It absolutely blows my mind the level of dedication and influence Doris and her store have had. I hope you see it reflected in your subscriber count and in many future developments to come, Doris and team. Amazing stuff as always.
The fact that you have the exact dress worn by Audrey Hepburn is just amazing. Im like so obsessed and for some reason, I want to take a pattern of this dress and some of the other dresses you have. Well, when I go to the store and buy some of course but still! Having extant examples especially of pre 1960s dresses are just amazing to have.
glad u got ur money's worth and more and yes, being a fashion nerd has its benefits! thankyou for sharing the wonderful news about ur personal auction! it's a bit bittersweet, non? but wonderful for the new fosters! don't worry about any new video before that, just give us some snippets about the auction at ur liesure. fondly, marvoi 💜
What a wonderful story. As a small dealer and collector I really appreciate your "PSA" about educating oneself to understand why and how items are priced. Thank you.
First of all, congratulations on the success of the Givenchy dress auction. I suppose there is a lot of joy for the fabulous figure achieved and some sorrow for parting with that iconic work of art. Speaking of art, my absolute admiration for your extensive artistic knowledge that demonstrates your exquisite sensitivity, culture and savoir faire. Best regards from Europe.
To say I'm envious is an understatement. I was lucky enough to buy one of Doris' jackets online a couple of years ago and I often stare at it. So well made and so beautiful but wearable. I'll just drool at the auction in November if it's online.
😍Doris! I’m SO excited and happy for you on the sale of Audrey’s dress!!!! 🤩A well deserved profit margin!! 💖💖 (I’ve been wondering how the auction went!)Just a few weeks ago I stoped at the quaint village in Switzerland where Audrey lived for 30 years, raised her children there & sadly passed away there. Her beautiful house is called “Peaceful”.🕊
thanks so much for this fascinating video. Your ethos completely matches mine -- if you train your eye and your mind, treasures await in the least expected places. Like you I'm very attuned to the idea of 'lifetime design', which is a concept i wish more would appreciate. My particular obsession is scarves produced under the eyes of Dior and Yves Saint Laurent (rather than made by corporate licensees). It's a wonderful pursuit and as challenging as collecting vintage in the pre Google days. Good luck with your auction!
Doris you are a very, very special lady. Thank you for sharing all of these extraordinary items and your knowledge. This video gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful that this magnificent clothing and history will be shared with the world.
Also Doris living her best life, looking like a goddess telling us to KNOW OUR S*&T.... but also letting go?!?! I am living for it but also crying at the same time. I need to book my flight down asap.
Doris, thank you from my heart for your 'pontificating'; as I needed to hear it more than words can convey. And SO happy for your "Audrey" Good Fortune. You deserve it!!
Doris, I love watching you and listening to your wealth of life’s adventures and vast knowledge. I find you really inspiring. If only I lived in LA not the UK I would have been at your blowout sale in a heartbeat!
I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you for sharing your joy and knowledge . It’s truly priceless . Wish I could travel to LA from Canada ,see your shop and BUY some pieces 👌🏾🌸
I've come across a few low priced items that were valuable. Most recently I bought a pair of dressers from one of my customers (I clean houses) I knew it was from the 1960's, and I could tell it was really well made. They're very brutalist looking, and have slate tops. Anyway, I found out they are Broyhill, from the Sculptra collection, which I'd never heard of before, but apparently they're worth about $5,000.00 for the pair, and I paid $100.00 for them. I like them a lot, but I know the mid century modern craze is going to be on its way out soon, so I kind of feel like I should sell them now before their value drops.
Good for you. I'm an Aussie avid UK Antiques Roadshow watcher of many years. Here there's not the wealth of items for average people to stumble across treasures at a local 'car boot sale' sometimes for next to nothing. They go on the show and find the 50p glass bowl they liked is Lalique and worth 1000s. I love seeing those and am so happy for the people when they find out. We did have one big item here when they visited a while back. A Steiff black teddy bear made to commemorate the Titanic that ended up being worth something like $300,000. They only made a handful with few left. The lady was blown away.
@@tkps are there not a lot of thrift shops there? We have flea markets here, but I've never heard of a car boot sale. It sounds cool. We have "trunk or treat" events where all of the parents from a school, or church will fill a parking lot, and all of the kids go around getting candy. I love decorating my trunk, and dressing up plastic skeletons to buckle into my car. I love the idea of a parking lot, car trunk flea market.
I'm happy for you but I personally wouldn't be able to sell it. I hope Ripley's didn't buy it and we don't see some celebrity wearing it walking down a red carpet one day. Always sending you love to you and your crew Doris. I hope your not retiring from fashion! 🎨💖🎶
FYI: Audrey Hepburn had a healthy appetite. She was so thin and petite because she nearly starved in the Netherlands during WW2, and never fully recovered.
I read that she gained weight eating chocolate bars on her ship ride over here. They read her the riot act because she had been brought here to play Gigi in New York. Maybe she never gained weight again in order to never have that level of shame and humiliation again?
Congrats, I hope that a museum bought the dress, or a collector who will let it be seen. Knowledge is power, I haven't had such a big profit margin, but I have found some treasures over the decades.
It absolutely blows my mind the level of dedication and influence Doris and her store have had. I hope you see it reflected in your subscriber count and in many future developments to come, Doris and team. Amazing stuff as always.
This should be an LA Times news story. Congratulations, Doris!

Quality is the standout for me of couture. When a garment that’s cut well, even after 70/80 years taken out of a box, hung up hangs perfectly
Hey lovely !!! Looking great Doris 🌺
Congratulations!!
Some of these garments ..Should..be in a Museum .... NOT locked up in someone's closet ....😘☺️
Go and donate them
Congratulations! You look gorgeous! I could listen you all day. Master class please! Hugs xoxo

I can't hear you................
I love all that you do. Please think about how many times you say "om"......It's something that makes it really hard to want to listen to you.
Exactly! The always learning is excellent and exceptional
So glad for you about the Tiffany's dress. You are a kind and interesting person!
