I adore this channel. I love how its not pretentious and Doris is just honest and sincere about everything she does and it shows. One of the other reasons i love this channel is because i work in Luxury retail so its nice to see pieces that have stood the test of time. Another fabulous and informative video. Hello from the UK x
A few years ago, I had the privilege of going to The Way We Wore. I bought a lovely Vintage bag from Doris. She was so great! Although I sell Vintage at Southern Vintage Co. in Bartlett, TN, my purse won’t be sold...it’s a special “keeper” that I’ll frame. Thank you, Doris, for being so kind, knowledgeable, & teaching me so much every time I listen to you!
Aw i knew Doris had always been beautiful, the younger photos were stunning! I always get such a warm, calm vibe from watching these videos I just adore them. ❤️
Thank you for answering so many of my questions, Doris. You are just lovely and brilliant - a veritable encyclopedia! Every video you make is a treasure, truly. I know that many of us appreciate very much the investment of time that you put into the making of them. Being an amateur seamstress, you've taught me so much. I know we've all got excellent reasons for loving YOU and what you do ❣️
I want to thank you for introducing me to Sonya Delaunay - I had never heard of her until you mentioned the hat on LA Frock Stars. I looked into her work and was so inspired by her theory of color and her approach to art. I love watching your channel because I always learn something new!
Thank you! As a plus size person my mother grew up with no options. She began making her own clothes in the 70s. She taught me about quality material and the "value" of a garment. I totally agree with you about the 80s in regards to shopping. I lived not far from SF and we scoured through the Berkeley flea market and our local thrift stores. I wore beautiful India cotton and Dashikis and cut off Jeans. To this day when I look for clothing in my size I look at quality fabric and not the $$. I have often found ( in my sizes) that quality often doesn't follow $$. I would rather pay 50$ for a well made pair of Jean's than 90$. Or 120 for a top verses 10 for a t shirt.
Perry ellis in the early 80"s before he died his brand was small and self owned, did a line of mens sweaters handknitted in ny that copied Sonia delaunay"s art, they were stunning. His line during that time is so unlike the fast fashion crap the new owners put out now
I remember seeing Perry Ellis clothing in magazine editorials, and it was so unique with interesting cuts. He's very underrated as an American designer. It's sad his name is often paired with Marc Jacobs grunge collection, when his clothing made while he was alive were so much more.
I am no fashionista, I live IN jeans and Converse All-Stars, but I live FOR these videos right now. Doris' passion for collecting and preserving these treasures is enviable. The history, the workmanship, the unique design, the beauty of these vintage items has me hooked. My 90-year-old mom was a fashionista in her day - I Magnin, the City of Paris - so maybe I get my deep appreciation of these sumptuous pieces from her. Thank you Doris.
Even though the clothes, accessories, all the things, are beautiful, it is the history behind all the beautiful things, and the designers, that side of it, that is so interesting to me. And I am so happy you found that piece from your uncle. It looked amazing on Vanessa! Thank you for your videos.
Hi Doris...As a lover of vintage. Just a pleasure to listen and learn from you. Please do a segment on your personal collection of favorite clothing and accessories. Thank You !
Fell upon your channel by chance and am delighted by your contributions. You know what you’re talking about, your French is excellent and spoken naturally , you have good couture taste. It’s a pleasure to find an American with know how. We’re numerous but unfortunately the web is full of fashion garbage.
I so appreciate what you bring to our world of fashion .. As fellow Victorian bohemian .... I am truly grateful for your work CocoorcoCreations&VintageFinds 🧚🏻♂️
Questions: What inspired the look of the store? Have you ever bought the same piece again? Thank you for these videos I have such a love for history of fashion. I wish LA Frock Stars was back!
having just watched this video for the first time because I haven't watched everything in any kind of order I just watched everyone as they show up or as I get time to scroll your videos it makes my comment on the other video that much more true, that I'm educated with every video you share💛💛💛
I just came across this channel recently. I adore the items you have showcased in your videos. Such a melodic voice. Keep posting. Greetings from the West of Ireland ☘️
I will start looking for some of the 30's and 40's dresses. I have gained weight but I do like those styles. I am able to see. I found some patterns to sew some.
I really enjoy this channel. Doris seems so kind and easy to talk with. I would enjoy visiting with her as well! So many beautiful things to see and Doris is so knowledgeable about everything. You can tell she loves what she does! Not everyone is fortunate enough to make a career out of their hobby! I am so happy she decided on doing a RUclips channel! I love channels where the people are passionate and knowledgeable about their subject. I am able to learn so much from people like that. 🤗💕💕
Doris you look wonderful for it. You would never think you could have been in business that long because you look amazing! I seriously think youre aging in reverse girl! I am roughly the same age as you as I was thrifting in the 70s and 80s and yes, you could find wonderful stuff. My mum had an antique shop with my sister and we got stuff from estate sales too. Victorian and Edwardian undergarments beautifully hand sewn with insertion lace, I inherited quite a lot of clothes from the 20s to the 50s from my mother, grandmother and great aunt all of whom were clothes horses like my sister and I. My sister is in the family home still and has much of those items still in storage as she still fits them but we are aware they have to be looked after too. I love vintage and, being of an age where Home Economics and Dressmaking/Needlework was compulsory, even though I hated it being a tomboy, I can still sew, embroider a bit and crochet although knitting defeats me. I cannot get the tension right. I would love to knit some of those gorgeous twin sets from original period patterns, who knows I may master it yet. Meanwhile I am getting into hat making and am reviving all my sewing skills because if I cant wear originals, I can still make stuff from original patterns. Getting another old Singer machine is my next project so I can sew faster. I have no affinity with computerised sewing machines but I know my way around a manual or treadle one. The Closet Historian is one of my favourite channels as she has shown me the importance of getting good bodice and skirt block patterns to base everything on.
Wish you were in Los Angeles. You totally sound like my kind of friend. I had to take home economics as well! And although I wasn’t thrilled with it- it has had a lasting impact on my life…. Except the kitchen. 🤣 Let me know if you ever plan to head out this way. Thanks for writing! Doris
What an incredible interesting person you are Doris. I can listen to you all day long. Thank you for doing what you do the best. I hope to meet you one day 🙏❤️
I'd like to learn more about American designers and the clothes they made. I'd also like to know about designers from the recent past whose pieces are becoming popular in the vintage scene.
I love your channel so much I’ve seen videos of you on other channels I’ve been waiting for you take make a channel! I finally found it. I’m so happy 😍
I love your channel Ms. Raymond. I would like to see an episode showing 70’s fashion, especially designs from Halston. Being born in the 70’s, he is the first designer that caught my eye as a child.
Love this! I always shopped at thrift stores because of affordibity, especially during my college years. Late 60's and early 70's was such a grand time for 40's and 30's boys! Keep doing what are love!❤❤❤
Love the dress on the background, I thought you would tell something about it, but I was disappointed. What's its history? Would you please talk about it? Love, Sol
I´d really love to see a video of you and your precious team explaining the advantages of vintage clothing no matter how affordable or expensive in one of those Vogue videos (not Vogue America though since Wintour seems to be about everything as long as it´s "in" in some sorts. Especially in times like these where sustainability is becoming more and more important to many kinds of people.
Just watched this video. I have been so enjoying your other videos and the fact that you are still educating and sharing you passion and love for quality and design in clothing despite the horrific vanalisn to your store. Thank you for sharing the beauty and creatvity in fashion. A breathe of fresh air with sunshine
These videos are fabulous. I adore everything about them. I get to marvel at the clothes, I learn so much, it's a wonderful escape, and I have a new found respect for not only the designers, but also for the curator as well. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos. They are simply marvelous.
I truly enjoyed watching and hearing you speak passionately about vintage clothes. This is one of my favorite subscriptions. I watched your videos sometimes several times. I love your previous show but your personal video are like master classes on vintage clothes. I’d love to see more on costume jewelry.
You look beautiful in this outfit and accessories- they really make you pop. This is such a good post- you are such a good explainer and teacher, and here, you fill in gaps that I’ve been really curious about! I went to an estate sale this past weekend of a very well-off couple who had just lost the mother/in-law and were selling and downsizing. I bought a w/d (😄) but I thought so much of you! There were two racks of decades-old clothes and accessories, the likes of which I had never seen, some with tags and stuffing still in place. You’ve opened my eyes!
I love your videos Doris! Thank you for educating us all. I hope to one day visit your store! I would love to see you do a video on the 40's and the fashion then/what you have in your store from that period.
always such a treat when Doris uploads. 15 minutes pure serene bliss, loved this tea time set up. Thank you Doris, your uploads elevate my day with inspiration, knowledge and kindness. The best escapism i can wish for. Do you still have the next door library with fabric samples? i'd love to see some of those ( a nice big curated picture book of your collectoin would be amazing, Wishingyou and your loved ones well.
Awesome video!! You are so knowledgeable and passionate about fashion and delightful to listen to as well. Thanks for these wonderful escapes during this time!! Cheers
I really enjoy your channel. There is always something to learn. You often mention that a garment has couture finishing when you peek inside it. As a 'sewist,' I would love to know more about what you see in there! Could you please include some close ups? Perhaps you could present an episode on what can be learned from finishes and construction techniques. Thanks :-)
I know nothing about fashion, but would love to know more. My question to you would be, is there any common/quality garments, or items I should consider picking up when shopping around thrift/antique stores? I often enjoy picking up second hand stuff, but I never really consider clothing when I’m scrounging around, and often feel like I might be missing out on, or undervaluing clothing items.
Thank you so much for this amazing video. I have learned so much from you and truly have sparked the passion for clothing that I thought I had lost for awhile. ♥️
Thank you for sharing this video! You have created an accessible space for individuals to enrich their knowledge and passion for fashion (history), and I appreciate and admire you so much!

She really does

Doris I can listen to you talking fod fashion history for hours. You're a blessing at this quarantine times! Thank you for this channel!
Perry ellis in the early 80"s before he died his brand was small and self owned, did a line of mens sweaters handknitted in ny that copied Sonia delaunay"s art, they were stunning.
His line during that time is so unlike the fast fashion crap the new owners put out now

I want to know more about Doris, personally! Married, kids, siblings, hobbies, etc.
Katherine Lerner there’s a little bit about Doris in a Q & A clip she’s done.
Questions:
What inspired the look of the store?
Have you ever bought the same piece again?

Ms Doris, I was wandering do you sew, and pattern? And did you ever want to be a designer? Or have you ever designed a garment , and what was it?
Great question!
The picture with John!!! I'm such a fan of his work and art. Great video Doris! Thanks.
I love your sincerity. A lot to learn from you.
