- Hello The Way We Wore Fans,
We have a special video for you today, in this episode Doris talks about the career of Hubert Givenchy. The Parisian designer who was known to dress the most glamorous women in the world, but his muse Audrey Hepburn became synonymous with the style and history of the house. Givenchy founded his house in 1952, after working at various design houses like Fath, Lelong, and Schiaparelli. His premiere collection was met with rave reviews because he showcased separates, which could be worn multiple ways. His Bettina blouse from that collection became a house staple.
Aside from talking about Givenchy, Doris showcases some the designer’s lifetime pieces from the house, which she procured from an auction, which was selling studio garments from Paramount. Givenchy designed almost all of Audrey Hepburn’s wardrobes following the success of Sabrina.
We hope you enjoy these lovely pieces of couture, as Doris reflects on the designer, creator, and muse that created the most iconic fashion moments in history.

Sweet Doris- Please don't overdo it we want you healthy and forever wise...you are loved by us
and givenchy dressed capucine too
Amen to that👍
He came to San Francisco in 1991 for I. Magnin Valentines Day Ball. I had had the pleasure of being in his presence. I provided the dressers to them and worked with his crew. I loved them. To top my experience, Audrey Hepburn made a surprise appearance! OMG, she was stunning!❤️🙋🏻♂️
Wow ✨👌🏾💯
If you hadn't told me you were recovering from brain tumor surgery, I would not have been able to tell from this presentation. It was very thorough and attentive, as always. So glad your recovery appears to be going so well.
Just to let you know - In 2000, I was hit by a bus (in Paris) and had a TBI. My own recovery was a lot slower than yours, but I found ways to work around the issues for the most part. Just wanted to tell you every day's a treasure and I learned to find the small joys and baby steps that give us a sense of purpose. Wishing you well in your recovery.
Adored Mr. Givenchy's pieces of clothing and accessories. Coco Chanel created the classic black dress and Hubert de Givenchy popularized it, thanks to Audrey Hepburn with the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." I conclude that he was the only Couturier who personified the concept of elegance without altering it. Today, their pieces are so chic and timeless.
SO happy to see you back. Please take care of yourself. There's only one of you and that's pretty special. ❤️
Hello Vickie, how are you doing?
I think of Breakfast At Tiffanys when I think of Givenchy. Pure class.
GOD BLESS YOU! Many more years on this wonderful planet.
Praying for you Miss Doris that you make a full recovery and continue to bless many people with your love and talent
We are Blessed to have you Doris! Thank you and keep healing well!!!!!
Wonderful video. FYI From the NYTimes, Dana Thomas, March 2018:”I told her “Mademoiselle, I would love to help you, but I have very few sewers, I am in the middle of doing a collection, I can’t make you clothes.” So she said, “Show me what you have already made for the collection.” She tried on the dresses - “It’s exactly what I need!” - and they fit her, too. We just changed the top of the evening dress when she dances with William Holden in the tennis court from black jersey to a white organza bustier since it was for a summer ball.”
We love you Doris!!!!
Thank you for this wonderful presentation of this incredible designer.
Yes, my relative owned a Lincoln designed by Givenchy. That car was beautiful! It had the Givenchy logo on the trunk and car interior. IIRC this would have been in the late 70s or so.
God bless you Doris! Hang in there. Your video was amazing.
my heart goes out to you. my sister had a brain tumor as well though hers was cancerous. you are a walking miracle indeed. get well soon.
So sorry to be reading this. Was she able to recover?
Doris
@@thewaywewore7371 she had her second brain surgery recently. she has a rare form that has a longer prognosis than most. about 11 years from diagnosis. no cure for brain cancer, but we are just trying to appreciate every day. this month is brain cancer awareness month! may.
Doris, I am so glad your surgery was a success. This presentation on Givenchy was stellar. Wishing you continued progress with your recovery!
Thank you for this touching tribute to Mr de Givenchy. I wish you all the very best as you recover! 💛
Take care Doris. Much LOVE LOVE LOVE! !!
In awe of your strength. Love your channel. Please take time to heal. We adore you and will happily wait for you
Dear Doris Stay strong

I love the story behind every subject about fashion there’s nothing on TV like what you do please Yourself in tune with us since we are with you always
🥰
Beautiful Doris I had no idea you were not well. Sending you light and love! Givenchy was a class act. He was amazing! Audrey Hepburn was a perfect for his designs Their collaboration is timeless. I hope there are stores in Heaven with his clothes. Hugs to you! xoxo
The Lincolns for which Givenchy contributed special "designer edition" color schemes and interiors were 1976 Mark IVs, 1977-79 Mark Vs, 1980-82 Mark VIs, and 1982-87 Continentals. During the same time period, designers Bill Blass, Pucci, and Valentino also contributed Lincoln designer editions, as did jeweler Cartier. Before Lincoln, now-defunct American Motors Corporation launched the trend of contracting with fashion designers to produce special designer editions of automobiles, offering a Gucci edition of their AMC Hornet in 1972-73, a Pierre Cardin edition of their AMC Javelin performance car the same years, and an Oleg Cassini edition of their 1974-75 AMC Matador. (In the 70s, AMC also contracted with Levi's to produce special Levi's editions of their Gremlin and Hornet models actually upholstered in Levi's blue denim with the classic Levi's tag on the seats.)
So glad to see that you are healing well! Please take excellent care of yourself; we can't do without you. Your videos are my very favorite and always make me happy!
I've only found you recently. Thank God he didn;t want you yet and you are still here to bring joy to us.
Thrilled to see you doing so well, Doris. Thank God! You’re a fighter. 💪🏼
Givenchy is one of my favorites. His close friendship with Audrey Hepburn was fitting (as it were) given that they appeared to be cut from the same cloth (!) in terms of their refined, elegant sensibilities and being a perfect match of designer and muse.
Regarding Edith Head not giving credit where it’s due, I recall it was said she got her first job in Hollywood by plagiarizing her more talented fellow design students, whose work she used in her portfolio interview. It was only years later that she casually admitted it, laughing it off. Oftentimes those who rise to the top, including in Hollywood, have sociopathic tendencies so I shouldn’t be shocked by her behavior, and worse - that she found it amusing.
Givenchy! What a treat! Lovely to see you again, Doris!!!!
Doris we love you Queen! I hope you’re doing better today ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dear Doris, You are such a treasure. Take care of yourself. You are a great teacher. I learn so much from your presentations, and so enjoy seeing the fashions. So much care and attention. Thank You, dear lady.
I’ve always loved Givenchy. I recall being in my early teens and seeing a Hepburn film. I read all of the credits and listed (besides her clothes) were even the color of her Givenchy LIPSTICK. Like many she was my style icon. I didn’t become thin until my early 20s which caused me to miss out on things in my price range in my earlier years. Neither Givenchy nor Audrey could do no wrong. What a couple they made in fashion. Doris, you are a strong woman, and you look great. So relieved to see you go - go - go after your surgery. Continued blessings for your recovery.
My Doris!! I’m sending you all the love. You’re a very strong human!! Take more time for yourself my love!! I’m praying for you🙏
Happy to see you have recovered. Thanks for the Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn. She is still an icon. Her personal clothes are still boffo sellers.

Dear Doris, please take care of yourself and not overdo it. We can wait and watch old episodes :) I still watch old episodes of your TV show and enjoy them immensely. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us about Mr Givenchy. How sad that his life's work has been diminished by the corporation he sold his business to. I hope one day he will get his due and the appreciation that he deserves.
You look and sound better even in this video Doris. Woman of Steel
Bless you Doris, take care and I am routing for you.
Thank you Debbie. I have nothing to complain about.
Doris
Dear Dorothy,
Beauty and art have such tremendous healing and energizing power ✨🙏
You are within just the right surroundings.
I got so much pleasure from watching these exquisite lines - stunning.
Thank you! ✨🌞
Please stay well ♥️👗♥️
It takes a Doris to Weave seemingly insignificant threads into such a resplendent tapestry, revealing the many interwoven aspects of culture, seduction and subtlety, logistics, histrionics, including finance, politics, and asctetic.
In other words, Great Video 🦊🚬
we love u BE strong😊

So happy you are alive and well and recovering so quickly. You are awesome and you mean a lot to very many. Looking forward to many many years of learning and and enjoying your amazing show.
You are doing so wonderfully bringing us these videos, but please do take the time to recover your health. Never easy being the owner of a business, you feel like you must be front and center always. But do remember that those of us that watch often would much rather you heal properly, please? Brain surgery is not an easy thing at any time. You must make allowances to heal well, so that you can have a happy, healthy and very long future! Stay safe, be well, and bless you and your indomitability!
The black 50s dress with the collar and bib is so stunning ❤️

Very well presented. Thank-you for introducing us to the mind of the genius, Monsieur Givenchy.
Blessings. You are doing great and don't overextend yourself responding to the comments, we love you just the way you are. My sister had brain surgery a few years back. She also suffers from short term memory. Whenever the short term memory loss comes up, I always tease her by saying: "do you remember I loaned you some money last week." It's our little private joke.
She uses notes a lot when working on new things, or trying to recall new subject matter and that helps until the things she is trying to remember finally make it into the long term memory storage of her brain. And it does. So do not despair. You are healing phenomenally. It is miraculous what you are doing so soon after your surgery. You are an inspiration.
Wonderful! Stay well Doris! 💜♥️💙💚💜♥️💙💚
