quartz quadrant will always be criminally underated.
It's my favorite zone in sonic cd.
So true and i just got threw playing cd 2😋
True
All of cd zones are underated
@@wildeyal5402 Eh, maybe except Stardust Speedway, since I don't know anyone who dislikes that zone
Who else agrees that the BASS is PERFECT?!!!!!! And the leads/piano are just plain beautiful!!!!
Hell yeah!
The whole song is already perfect and beautiful on it's entirety, a masterpiece like all other CD tracks.
yes
1:03 time-stamping this beautiful part for my own listening pleasure
The sound be like: ➡️⬅️➡️⬅️
The bass is godly in this track :)
Bout the only thing. This was my least favorite song in the game, in an otherwise awesome soundtrack.. Still, it does have a unique charm
Every Sonic Song has a awsome baseline.
@@jaredpatterson1701 I hate comments like these
@@Capt.Gingivits Comments that disagree with your own views? Just because he doesn't like it doesn't change the fact that YOU do.
Dang, This past theme is really good, sure it gets old. But it starts to grow you and whenever I listen to sonic music, I always think how lucky we are to have such great composers and even if you don’t like some of the songs doesn’t mean you have to hate all of them. You can hate one and love another
I have always enjoyed the calm jazzy sound of Quartz Quadrant and hearing this makes me feel euphoric in a lot of ways, its my favorite song in the entirety of Sonic CD!
Yeah it's very calming
I like this one and Wacky Workbench Past - that one is fun!
now THIS is music

I think the same about your Angel Island Act 2 oscilloscope deconstruction
Sonic Jam
Your sonic jam?

Jam
Channel 0 is rushing back and forth in my ears 👂0:06
3:38 Best part 🌟
I remember as a kid thinking this song was somehow being overlooked by the CD audio player because it wasn't on the track list. I just assumed it was simple playback from the CD Audio tracks and not the hardware playing it! It makes me sad in some ways to know the SEGA CD had such potential that was overlooked and unused by so many developers.
1:03 Holy... SOMEONE STOP THIS PERSON. THEY'RE GOING HAM ON THE KEYBOARD! In all honesty, this song is a jam and I'm glad that Americans got this for the past but feel bad they got those US Quartz Quadrant Present and Future versions which are awful. Anyways, beautifully composed, beautiful bass, beautiful instraments that fit the levels. A great Sonic CD song
Not all the US themes were bad.
I'm rather partial to Quartz Quadrant bad future, Stardust Speedway Present, Good, and Bad Future, Sonic Boom, Special Stage, and of course, that creepy boss/final boss music.
@@CardboardSliver Oh not at all. I prefer Wacky Workbench, Tidal Tempest and Special Stage US over their JP/PAL counterparts but Quartz Quadrant is not great compared to the PAL version.
I just love the Bad Future version. It's a bit forbidding and dark. More so with those ghostly vocals
I actually really like the US version of the Present theme. The hard rock just sounds so cool to me, though the vocals detract from it a bit. But hey, it's alright you have your own opinion. To each their own.
@@evanthegamingpocket6362 Opinions are indeed illegal
btw for those wondering why there is no oscilloscope deconstruction of the future and present versions it's because those soundtracks were made in a diferent way using the CD part of the mega drive(I think??) so the songs are made in a diferent way and can't be deconstructed the same.
Oh that’s why 🙁
Correct. They used CD quality audio instead of the low quality sound chip in the Sega CD, which is what the past mixes use in the JPN/PAL versions.
If it ain't the base literally everything else feels so unpredictable and erratic and I love it
Thank you so much for this one.
The Sonic CD past deconstructions are my favorite, as likewise, CD (JP/EU) was my favorite soundtrack in the entire genesis era ❤️
TurboPikachuX Is this really a genesis game, though? I mean it sort of is, but at the same time it kind of isn’t.
@@bluerious5475 They never said it was, just that it came from the same time period. Technically, though, it's not a Genesis game, although I doubt much of it would be impossible without the extra hardware provided by the Sega CD
Bluerious still Genesis era, but I know that the past stages’ music utilizes the Sega CD’s more capable Ricoh Chip

the combination of channels 0, 1, 4, 5 and 7 is just perfect
I’d listen to this song for so long, that I’d get more than one time over.
Yet again more awesome music
Question since you deconstruct these often, does the SEGA CDs extra sample channels replace FM channels? Couldn't find it while searching
@@TheTomatoWatcher Thank you
@@TheTomatoWatcher they still have channel 6 not used on music in sonic cd, It is used for sound effects, so... Maybe the mega drive sound chip is only used for the classic sound effects or it isn't even used
@@kayorego6420 no, pretty much every sound effect plays on the fm chip. Only a select few (like sonic's "Yes!" and "I'm outta here!") play on PCM channel 6
@@TheTomatoWatcher huh... i thought the sample sound effects were on the RF5C164 channel 8, which would explain why the 8th channel doesn't ever seem to be used for music... interesting to know that it was all purely Mega Drive DAC
@@retroboyo4238 no that's not what I meant, those sound effects play on the PCM chip, not the YM2612 DAC. I'm guessing the "Channel 6" confused you, as, when starting from 1, that's the channel used for sampled sounds. But they do indeed play on the PCM chip. It just happens to be channel 6 (starting from 0) on that chip. Hope that clears things up

What's Channel 0/4's crystal whistle/echo sample? I would love to use it!
Channel one threw me off so hard listening to this at first, now it's my favorite channel
Does anyone know what the instrument in Channel 1 is?
Up
it's bass
It's a synth bass (you can tell, it's playing the bassline) and I'm pretty sure it's not a real instrament but it makes a rather pleasant sound.
it's an e piano playing really low notes, works as a good bass

NO WAY OMG ITS HERE AHHHHHHHHH!!!
I have so many questions. How do you split the audio channels of a Sega CD games music track? Are you using the VGM files from the genesis port of the game?
The past songs aren't Redbook audio, unlike the other tracks
@@mrorris88 but what does that mean. i know that Sega CD songs are composed differently and dont naturally have easily viewable audio tracks. I just wanna know what he uses to separate them.
@@HyperGriffin Winamp with a specific plugin I think
Yeah... How is it done?
@@insertcoolnamehere937 I figured it out.
Just download Foobar2000
Download the original files for the Sonic CD ost
Open them in Foobar and download a specific plugin that allows you to split the stems for each track
Open them each in the Osciloscope plugin
thanks for the video !
My favorite
is there any sort of midi, just wondering
Unfortunately due to the fact the Sega cd/mega cd wasn't that popular there aren't allot of tools out there for it so I doubt you'll be able to find a direct midi rip of these songs. I'm sure someone online has made their own midi of this but that's the best you could probably get.

Hey I’ve been looking for a deconstructed version of the present version of quartz quadrant, if you could can you make it?
Can't do that because all of it (minus the past themes) are all pre-recorded.
Well, now it's possible! A good amount of instruments of the Sonic CD JP OST have been found, enough to remake and then deconstruct some songs. Quartz Quadrant Bad Future and Stardust Speedway Bad Future are already deconstructed by a guy called Nuclear. Quartz Quadrant Present is currently being remade.

Was the SEGA CD sound chip just as painful to program as the Genesis chip supposedly was?
Probably, it’s why the past tracks were never reprogrammed when the US soundtrack was being inserted into the game during localization.
Because it required a good amount of time and effort to find the exact sequencing data.

Why do quartz quadrant was almost similar to Stardust speedway
Please make colission chaos present or bad future(us)
neither of those are possible because they're both stored as one big sample on one channel rather than a sequence of separate ones on different channels
Hey! I want to know if I can find the beginning sample in channel 0 for a song I’m making! It sounds like a piano ish sound with some echo.
It comes from Roland D-70. The name of the sound is E-Piano 1 if i'm not wrong.
The whitle is from Korg 01/W, the sound is listed as "Underwater".
Can you please do Quartz Quadrant Good Future?!?!?
