    Thank you for all your tutorials, so well explained!! The natural colours of the Alpaca yarn make your hat so special. Alpaca is lovely to knit or weave with and I love how it blooms after washing. So cosy. I have bought Alpaca fleeces to prepare and spin and love the whole process though it does take time.

    Even though this video is a little bit older it was still very informative I would never think that because of the thickness of alpaca that one could get it to go through the addi. I just tried some cashmere yarn chunky and it went through there so I'm totally amazed by all this thank you so much for sharing 🤗❣️

    THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL, IT'S SO CLEAR I UNDERSTAND IT. CAN I GIVE YOU AND YOUR FOLLOWERS A TIP THAT I USE AND IT'S VERY HANDY.!!! I SET UP MY HAT ON WASTE YARN OF CONTRAST COLOUR AND DO 10/12 ROWS KNIT ONE ROW ONLY WITH CONTRAST CROCHET COTTON. THEN USE YOUR MAIN YARN (yarns) AND COMPLETE YOUR HAT. ( THE 110, 120, 140 ROWS ETC. FOR SIZE REQUIRED. AT THIS STAGE KNIT ONE ROW ONLY WITH CONTRAST CROCHET COTTON. KNIT 10/12 ROWS WASTE YARN(CONTRAST COLOUR. ### NOW KNIT ONE ROW CROCHET COTTON, THEN 10/12 ROWS WASTE YARN. 1 ROW CROCHET COTTON. THEN KNIT YOUR NEXT HAT AS BEFORE. ( DO AS MANY HATS AS YOU WISH IN THIS FASHION AND LEAVE THE LAST WASTE YARN ON THE MACHINE TO THE READY FOR YOUR NEXT LOT OF HATS. FINISH OFF YOUR HATS AS USUAL. ( JUST PULL OUT THE CROCHET COTTON TO SEPERATE EACH HATS.) YE KNITTERS I HOPE WITH PRACTICE, WILL LOVE THE IDEA I HAVE GIVEN YOU. I DID LOTS OF HATS LAST YEAR AND GAVE THEM TOO THE CHILDRENS SHOE BOX APPREAL FOR CHRISTMAS. FROM 80yr old CRAFTER ❤❤

    Thanks for your tutorial. I'm sure I could now use it. However, I am wondering how large the hats actually are as I hand knit very large ones that I then felt but my hands don't like the process nad i was hoping these might be the answer.

    • @nikkigriffith9703
      @nikkigriffith9703  3 года назад

      Hello Sue, thanks for your feedback. I have used a variety of yarns and find that the heavier the yarn, the firmer the hat. I like to use two strands of a suri 2-ply together when I want a looser weave with a bit of give or stretch in it. You can experiment and have fun. There is a wonderful group if you are on Facebook called "Addi Loomers & Knits", there are over 7,000 members globally, and they post patterns and photos of what they are doing. It is absolutely stunning, and there is also a library of other videos! Enjoy!

    Hi, the best video and well explained BUT what if the person wants a pom pom? It's reversible so how can you add a pom pom please? It would have to be removable/detachable I guess because you'd want one pom on one side and then remove it to use on the other side when wearing it on the other side. How to do this please? If you could please explain and possibly make a video how to attach removable pom. thank you in advance

    • @nikkigriffith9703
      @nikkigriffith9703  3 года назад

      Hello Fernando! Thank you for your question. The way of attaching the pom pom shown actually shows how to create it using part of the hat tube itself, not a separate pom pom. And you are right, when you do it like that, it is harder to become reversible because then there is the pom next to the wearer's head. There are a number of other videos about how to make a create a pom pom on RUclips, and not even necessarily for a hat made with the addi, but the process would be the same. There are little looms that make it easy and fast to create a pom pom, but I have seen videos that just use things available at hand. Again, thank you for watching my video!

      PUT A BUTTON IN THE OPPOSITE SIDE AND USE FINE ELASTIC FROM THE pom pom THREAD A NEEDLE AND BRING IT THROUGH THE CENTRE OF YOUR HAT AND LOOP IT AROUND THE BUTTON YOU ALSO REQUIRE A BUTTON ON THE FIRST SIDE SO THAT YOU CAN UNDO FROM 1st side used and reverse the pom pom. ❤❤ 80yr old CRAFTER

    • @Starlightxxoo
      @Starlightxxoo 6 лет назад +1

      GRACE DIDONATO you can contact the seller or addi themselves for replacing parts. And yes the counter tends to skip if the yarn has synthetic fibers like acrylic or polyester, sometimes with wool as well. It’s just a static discharge from the fibers.

    • @nikkigriffith9703

      Thanks for reaching out. Most folks use about 100 to 120 rows depending on several factors, including whether the yarn is particularly stretchy or not, and whether a brim is desired, and whether the wearer is a child or an adult.

    • @tutsecret499
      @tutsecret499 6 лет назад

      Which is yarn is most stretching, because I won't be able to do hat for man on this machine. I made one and barely fits me. the yarn is 4 or 5. I got upset.

    • @Starlightxxoo
      @Starlightxxoo 6 лет назад +1

      Tut Secret I don’t know if you’ve figured it out yet but I thought I’d reply. Try less tension when holding the yarn to get a looser and stretchy hat you can use any type of yarn and usually anything under size 5 weight yarn is good.
