    I'm brand new to knitting machines (I don't have an Addi... I have a Sentro). In fact, I just got my machine today. So far, I've made 2 hats and a scarf, all from "tubes". I've crocheted for 40+ years and I've been using a knitting loom for about a month so I was kind of able to fix dropped stitches and other "weird" stitches, but this video really helped me identify the potential problems BEFORE they happened. Thank you so much!

    Wow u have a remarkable comprehension of the mechanics of how this works. I have a hard time with visualizing such things but really want to understand the needles and going backward and forward etc. You helped me so much. I have a knock off version right now I just want to make pieces of knit to play around with dyes, and I will re-knit it by hand. I have found I have to be SUPER gentle with worsted, the first machine I had lasted an hour and the gears got stripped. Then I read that some folks on amazon have similar problems with Addi also, but you really have it down. Thanx again, I shall look forward to more videos from you.

    I have a 22 needle addi and it always catches on the 20th needle. I already have the king size addi and recently invested in the small one and made about 1/2dozen headbands before it started messing up. I’m not sure if it’s the yarn or something wrong with that needle.

You need to convince Skacel / Addi to include it or a form of it with the sell of every loom.

    To make an adult sized jumper... how and where do you make the initial measurements and then translate these measurements to rows and length? Maybe I am being a bit ambitious here as I have never used a knitting machine before... but making a jumper is my eventual goal. I don’t understand how to calculate the measurements (I have a horror of maths!). I don’t want to just make endless scarves and beanies on my new machine! Thanks for any help! PS. Your instructions are very clearly communicated and understood in this video... I would have probably given up on the whole garment if I dropped a stitch.

    I spin my own yarn and I think it is the thickness of worsted #4 but it varies. Sometimes it turns out thick and sometimes thin. I'm new to all the language. I would want to know that my yarn will work. What thickness does your roving yarn above state that it is? I just curious if I'm going to be able to use this machine. Thanks!

Or varying stitch types like cables or seed stitch? Is there a weight to contro the tension? Which groups do you recommend joining to learn more about what is possible with this machine? I am struggling trying to find some online help with today's Addi challenge. I am making a reversible hat where with the outside of the hat I have knitted every other row a Fair Isle stitch alternating 2 different colored yarns (primary hat color and 1 accent yarn color). Once I completed several rows of this F.I., I realized I had a dropped stitch near the first FI row. Because I have all of these float yarns laying around I can't figure out which yarns to work with when trying to correct my dropped stitch. I learned from you how to correct dropped stitches but I am really struggling being able to determine from the back side of the project which yarns to pick up. I don't know if it would solve my challenge but I do not know how to correct dropped stitches from the front of the project. Thank you for any help you can offer. This is the 2nd time this has happened in 2 days. The first time I was only 1/3rd the way through the project so I just frogged the whole thing and started over.

    HELP!! What I need to know is how to take out all the stitches from an incomplete project. I got all the way to row 150/150 of my project before I realized I dropped a stitch at around 145. The project is quick enough that I prefer to just start all over again using the same yarn, but I can't figure out how to take this apart so I can rewind the ball. I would hate to think I'm just out of luck and wasted an entire skein that can't be salvaged. Every tail I pull on only seems to tighten the project to close the ends though. Any tips out there?

    • @rexlife6372

      Hello It depends on how you casted off. You need to remove the yarn that you used to cast off with in order to unravel your work.

I can not find any other youtube video on how to make ribbing on Addi. if you could help by making a video or maybe you know of a video that is clearer than the one I have been watching. If not I understand how busy you are and I so appreciate this great video on fixing my mistakes.

    Doesn't this technique effect the stitch 3 to the right of the carriage at 7:51? Does this stitch also have to be manually kept on? In the video it appears to have been displaced from the little red teeth by the reversing technique.

    • @rexlife6372
      @rexlife6372  9 лет назад +2

      Okay The Stitch I fixed was #25 Stitch Number #24 & #23 were not affected because they were ready to be knitted with the working yarn and the White Needles did not drop down making it a live stitch. If You go too far Backwards the white needle would have dropped down making it active then you would have to hold it on until the white needle comes back up when it is ready to be knitted. #22 was not affected because the needle only pushed the knitted stitch off and did not bring the active stitch and drop it on the red teeth. If you go too far back it will make #22 an active stitch and then you would have to hold it on when it comes back around to knit. I hope this helps :)

    • @jynx-vu2zc
      @jynx-vu2zc 6 лет назад +1

      @@rexlife6372 I am still confused by this part, # 22 comes of the teeth when you backup to fix #25, the working yarn is suppose to get pulled threw the loops, since #22 has pushed off. how can it get knitted properly when it comes around again ?

    • @rexlife6372
      @rexlife6372  6 лет назад +1

      @@jynx-vu2zc So as you knit you will notice there is a loop of yarn around every set of red teeth. As it come back around to the front of the machine the needle begin to rise up. This in turn pops off the loop that was on the red teeth and it slides down the back of the white needle dropping drop. So if you pop off the loop while fixing a stitch it will not affect your knitting because it would get popped off anyway as it came around for a new row.

    My addi drops stitches all the time and I just bought it. Plus it makes a lot of noise any advice?

    • @rexlife6372
      @rexlife6372  4 года назад +1

      I am so sorry for the late response I typed it the other day but I guess it never posted. There can be many answers to this. First off I have the older model Addi from what I understand the newer ones have a manual counter which makes more noise. That noise would be normal with that type of counter. It also could mean you machine has a lot of use and could need cleaned and lubricated. With the dropped stitches the could be many things as well. It could be related to your tension or the type of yarn. For example red heart tends to be a rougher yarn so it grips onto itself creating problems for the knitting machine. It could also mean that a specific needle made need to be replaced. If your machine is very new and you are concerned you could always send it for a replacement. I hope this help :)

    re grinding gears - I did see a video where a woman greased the needles - it's actually recommended somewhere. also, I'm checking into having to replace the red ring - teeth broke - I am getting a replacement but I found out my local library has a 3d printer so will call them about getting it "printed"

      Hi Janet Yes you can decrease either by catching the loops with scrap yarn or moving it to another needle and knitting it together.
