I received a Miaoke machine for Christmas. I didn't know which machine I wanted but I want to knit faster and use up all the yarn I have hoarded over the years. I donate all of my hats and scarves to a local shelter. This machine works perfectly with some yarns and not so well with others. I'm happy to have watched some of your videos. I believe your tips will eliminate some of my frustrations.

Hello there! Your video is very good. I bought my knitting machine a week ago. Sentro with 48 needles from Aliexpress. It works fine. I went to youtube only to find out how to make the 1st row, because the yarn was falling of, as in 1 of your tips. All the other tips I literally discovered myself, really. All you need to do is be interested and patient. Have a great day!
When I did my first Addi videos there was nothing so I sort of took you along for the ride as I figured it all out. You certainly don't have to discover all this stuff by yourself anymore as there are TONS of informational posts and videos at your fingertips. No reason to struggle through when you can hit the ground running and begin creating and discovering NEW things!
Hi Margaret! I just bought a Jamit machine. I wanted the ADDI King but they seem to be sold out everywhere and I needed something else to keep my hands busy. I spent most of today playing with my new machine and was getting very frustrated. I had watched many videos but something wasn't right. I found this video a nd what a game changer! Thank you so much. Your delivery is perfect and I followed your tips and started another hat. I am almost finished and so far it looks great! I am so excited. I like to do charity knitting but I cannot hand knit all day due to arthritis. I love all of your videos. I am going to make a point of going back and watching ALL of them.

I'm a crocheter and loom knitter, making a jump to add circular knitting machines to my crafty repertoire. Ordering both the Addi King and Addi Pro (I also do TONS of crafting for charity!) and was looking for ways to speed up what I'm doing and boost my output (more stuff getting out to where it needs to go!) Hi I'm new to the knitting game. I started with the looms I worked my way up to the double circular rotating loom and now I'm at your level here. the first thing I did was put a silicone mat underneath the feet cuz I was working on a wooden table and I knew that wasn't going to stay put so that's my tip silicone mat inexpensive keeps it from sliding thanks for the video and the tips.

Love your videos! I just received a 48 pin Sentro for a Christmas. After watching your videos, I was lucky enough to find a round table for me to set the machine on. I cut a hole in the middle of the top. There is a open basket attached to catch the knitted fabric in.
I started on the large sentro machine and it worked perfectly right out if the box. But it DOES work better with certain yarn. The pink generic i got second and i got it to work but again the yarn matters. Finally, i did get the addi and of course it works better with all the yarn i had except the bulky yarn.
So happy I found you. I finally opened my Sentra 48 needle yesterday. I spent all day looking at various videos and just couldn't get it to work. It kept dropping stitches after the cast on. Your cast on directions were different and really made the difference. I finally have some knitting on my machine! Thank you so much! 🙂🤗 I have subscribed and will be following you.
Use a soft rubber mat under the machine if it's on a shiny surface - or fit a balloon over each foot which will give additional traction. Love these videos : )
That's a great idea for traction but I really need it affixed to the table. (Not everybody does.) During the cranking process, it moves up and down not just forward and backward... at least for me it does!

I'm so glad your Loops and Threads machine has held up nicely! I wish they could improve the consistency of production quality because it's a perfect size. This little pink machine seems to work beautifully so keep that in mind if ever yours wears out!
Thank you, Christy! That's just what I set out to do when I started these Addi info videos. When I first got mine, there was little to NO info on them anywhere so my goal was to take you along with me as I figured these things out on my own! (So forgive those older videos, they're horrible but they have good info in there! Ha!)
Love your videos. Here's an additional tip for stubborn yarns. Like in your demonstration when you changed yarns and you had the lifting problem...I have found placing my hand gently but firmly on the knitted stitches, just before the needles begin to rise up. It helps keep the yarn down on the teeth where it belongs. I also knead the knitted stitches a little down inside the machine to keep the stitches uniform. Your weights will help as well. I've just found this also helps when changing yarns. Also when i make hats I roll up the completed work inside the machine. It gives the added weight and tension needed to keep the yarn from lifting. I don't have a table with the slot in it, so my work will always knot up and it was very frustrating.
Your greatest tip was don’t give up. Keep knitting for about 15 turns was great. After about 14 rounds I was ready to quit. But I kept going and BINGO there it went, just like a Breeze.
Isn't that strange?! For some reason, certain yarns just need some time to get in the groove! Ha! (Like me when I first wake up in the morning!) Glad I had something helpful to share!
I am new to circular knitting I started with Addi King and have been delighted so far. I found that winding the balls on my wool winder helps them go through easier even very course yarn. I place my yarn into ice cream box like we do on my mums long bead knitting machines then place wool winder wound ball in and cast on start knitting, works the best, I have tried straight from balls but it just seams to start dropping stitches. I live in New Zealand so yarns we get here are different. Alpaca goes through very well and knits like a dream.

Hey Margaret! I got my new addi Pro to replace the addyi that does not count. Had a lot of trouble with it and ended up taking it all apart. Thank you for giving me the confidence to take it apart! LOL it bound up very tightly, and I was looking for needles that were bent or didn't work so I had it all apart. In the long run since I didn't want to send it back to Germany as they wanted me to I looked even closer with a little flashlight and found out it's the new row counter! Anybody that tells Addie that they really need a counter on their Addi, will probably get this new one back in the mail. They should just expect it to get a bit tight around the black needles and when it's past counting it snaps kind of loud and then it goes again. You just have to put up with the noise. Just keeping you up on my latest shenanigans! I figured that you would want to know about that because people will think there's something wrong with the machine and it's just the spring inside that makes noise when it counts the row for you. I hope this wasn't too disorganized, but I have ADD and it's the best I can do! LOL!
That is exactly what I thought with my Addi, that there was something wrogwith it and if I continued that i would damage it.. Now I know what the snapping sound is as you pass the black needle and now I am using it confidently. Its going brilliant, and I used Stylecraft Special Effects DK Yarn (I'm in UK). Knitted scarf and hat sets and Ive watched all Margarets videos and learned a lot from her. Thank-You Margaret, couldnt have done it without these fantastic informative videos. And Thank-You Cookie for pointing that out about the counter on the Addi.

Love your performance style. I’ve been on Bond, Silver Reed, Brother Punchcard, (with ribbing bed) Brother Chunky knit and Knitmaster machines since early 1980s. BUT I’m really excited as have TWO Addi circular knit machines on order. (1 each size) in the 1980s we used to put Mohair yarn in the REFRIGERATOR for a day or so BEFORE knitting on machines, it really helps. Try it with other yarns? I also agree , watch RUclips, I learnt REVERSIBLE Fairisle knitting, both sides are the RIGHT (knit side). with the Fair Isle pattern appearing on opposite sides with colours reversed😎 It’s like commercially knitted Double Jacquard. Soooooo looking forward to new machine technique. I may post a video revealing my results with the Addi working with my own hand spun yarns. Big LoveLight Stephen ❤️
I've heard of the refrigerator tip but have never tried it! Glad to know it works. I have a flat bed that broke shortly after i purchased it second hand and haven't bothered to find a repair shop. Now, lack of time is an issue so it will have to wait some more. Good for you for learning to double knit! It looks way above my skill set!
Glad I'm re-viewing some of your videos. Watching you convinced me to order both Addi machines, and now that they're here and all is not instant success, re=watching is showing me why.
Very wise, Deborrah! I can't tell you the number of people who complain about the machine only to discover that there's actually a learning curve involved! The machines are so misleading because it really DOES look so simple! In truth, after you get down the "personality" of your particular machine, it IS easy but there ARE some tricks to learn first. I realized that this was an older video when you said that the Addi machines are in the $200 range. Now in Canada they are in the $400 range! That’s why I bought the Sentro for S100!
Margaret, you are soooo right!! this red heart super saver was a horrible experience, but when I tried just using Caron 1lb purple, was a beast to use! BUT I did get through it. I am doing your version of Kate Spade's color block scarf and hat. I did get through it with your help and using my left hand to tension it. Yes indeed, each yarn will perform differently, and I also finally got my innovations machine running. I had given up all hope for that machine, but it works with your advice you have given me, and I so appreciate it! I have the Sentro machine 48 needles, I've made 3 hats so far, and I'm about to attempt my 1st blanket with idk how many tubes, depends on how wide each tube is, I am gonna make a queen sized blanket

Hello again, Margaret,My question has to do with "reversible hats". These are the ones that are made of a double layer of material and as they come off the Addi King-size, they are twice the length of a single layer hat. Once they are knit, the bottom is shoved inside ... up towards the top of the hat. As I understand it, the two layers of material are NOT knit together at the top as seems to be the case when one adds a pom-pom to such a hat.Once the hat is knit and turned inside out, the strands of yarn are clipped off about a half inch long - where yarn has been joined or where color changes were made. My question has to do with how can this hat be "reversible" if all of those approx. 1/2 inch long strands of yarn will still be visible?Blessings to youDavid
My method is close up one end and trim the tail so that it doesn't show at all. Then, I close up the other end BUT I don't trim the yarn yet because I use it to sew the 2 ends together after stuffing one end inside the other. Once the ends are attached to each other securely, I guide the needle between the 2 layers of the hat, poke it out through one layer about 4 inches down, and snip the yarn. That 4 inches of yarn is neatly sandwiched btw the 2 layers of hat.
Everything you have said here is true in my experience. I have found that for me, different yarn works better in different machines, for example, i could not get my red heart supersaver yarn to work on anything but my addi. However the caron simply soft worked great with all my machines . I have not yet tried the vannas choice. What i have found recently is that i have to start over 2 or 3 times before the machine decides to cooperate and work. Same yarn, just takes re starting, so dont give up. Btw i have the large, pink sentro (that was my first one), the smaller pink generic (the one Margaret uses here) and the large and small addis.
great comment!! have you ever tried cashmere yarn? (if it even exists, or maybe merino yarn). that is the only reason i want to buy a knitting machine. but since you have tried so many yarns with different machines you would probably know immediately if they work or not. I hate to spend $300 on a large adi (or whatever they cost) only to find out i'm stuck with acrylic D: lol I am severely sensitive and can't wear any artificial fibers.
I bought the Weaver Epoch the one you just demonstrated. It worked beautifully for me right out of the box. My first hat came out great even with 3 diffrent color yarns.
You are such a wonderful teacher, thank you for the videos, I started off with the same piece of junk that you showed us all, and I thought that's it I'm just not destined to be able to do this! So the piece of junk sat there for a while, then I thought well, it's not working anyway, so I pulled it apart, and discovered that it was just never going to work the way it was made it was a bodgy item from the start!! I have since bought an innovations one and providing I use lighter yarn and weight as well as giving it a tug from time to time, I'm pretty happy with it, although, it does seem to be shredding itself as there is white plastic dust on the surface, but I still like it. Recently though I have gotten an addi and it's really nice, but it did cost nearly $400 Australian dollars. Cheers!

I'm going to see if I can get one of those pink ones, l'm not sure how long my innovations one will last. I like the two sizes also, and I would like to get the smaller addi as well but I was looking at the video again and you had small ones there, which one was the best one out of the cheapies in your opinion and can make babies beanies for the hospital. In my little village here in Tasmania, we have a lovely little yarn shop, and the lady has a chalk board with sayings on it, this is the saying for the week, "knitting takes balls!" Oops! My husband put1 my machine on a board then little blocks with hole in middle just big enough to have suction cups to fit in glued suction cups into place works great and easy to move around
I bought suction cups for my loops and threads 40 needle machine and found that galvanized steel diy signs found in most craft departments or craft stores allow a good suction to take place with the suction cups and using a set of clamps makes a temporary platform for the machines.
I just bought a less expensive 20 pin machine. Made in China of course. Got it today, about 4 hours ago. Been watching YT videos for over a week, so thought I was ready. Wrong! My first problem was figuring out tension. Combined with how to keep this legless thing from moving around. Figured out how to keep it stable while keeping appropriate tension. #1: Pull new yarn out of the skein (a few yards at a time as needed) until it will flow freely. Found a way to hold down the machine (hand through the base with thumb on front upper face) while running yarn between my thumb and hand. I'm also working up plans to build a dedicated circular knitting table. Waiting for the second, larger machine to arrive before cutting any lumber. One thing for sure: there will be a hole in the middle for the project to drop through. Rearranging a 3 foot piece of fabric every few rows is, to me, unacceptable. Then noticed the yarn was not always sliding down the back of the separation bumps. The yarn was snagging on poorly molded bits. Wound up using an Emery board to gently file the sides and inside points smooth. It took some time, but it was worth it! After several false starts and messes, I have now completed a full 3 foot long tube. It still looks a bit wonky, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with my tension and forgetting to pull more yarn out of the skein. Thank you for your tips. I have been watching the wrong spot, and didn't catch quite a few stitches that didn't drop properly. Off to start another tube! 😆
I have the Sentro 48 pin machine and what i've found is that my solid colours work better than variegated because they are softer. I've found some use out of adding some baby powder to the centre of the skein to soften the yarn, and increased the tension and I stopped dropping stitches on the variegated stuff.

OK I was on Amazon and I saw this machine. It is one of those knitting machines but it’s a circular knitting machine but it’s got a square but it’s got square body to it and it is 99% just like the Addy it comes with clamps to hold it down, screwdriver to tapestry noodles and a crochet hook baby and two yarn. Two skeins of yarn.
Greetings, Margaret,I am wondering if anything can be done about my Addi King-size being very hard to crank at times. It does run freely when no yarn is on the machine. I am guessing that the particular yarn being used may be a factor, but, then again, I am not really sure. I only use #4 worsted weight, 100% acrylic yarns like "I Love This Yarn" by Hobby Lobby and "Simply Soft" by Caron. As you have pointed out before, yarns can vary in actual thickness - even amongst the same yarn "family". Different colors within that same family can also vary in thickness.Of course all of these machines do seem to "drag" somewhat when they reach the counter & that is expected. Thicker yarns do seem to be harder to crank in my experience. When the machine is really "laboring" during the cranking, I find it can "wear out the operator" much more quickly. I really don't have anything to add, David, as you seem to understand everything I know! In a nutshell, merely adding the yarn element puts tension on the machine. Thicker yarn naturally adds more tension thus making it harder to crank. If the #4 worsteds are giving you a problem, try letting them flow freely into the machine (applying no tension or guidance with the left hand)

I will hopefully be getting my first knitting machine on or before Christmas and until then I'm going to try some manual loom knitting. I know this video is 4 years old, but I'm just beginning on my machine. How do you change colors mid- project? I LOVE variegated yarns, but there's no control over where different colors will stop in your projects, so I'd like to use different solid colors throughout. THANK YOU!
Old videos are still current as long as the info is still relevant! In my Addi playlist there are a bunch of skill tutorials (very old video warning) and you’ll see one about how to cast on and off and how to change colors. The worst machine I ever used was the Bond Ultimate Sweater Machine. My joke with my family is that it was a pox upon my house. I am a very specific person, and can usually get anything to work the first time. The issue with the bond knitter, is the catching of the cartridge on the needles- and general poor design. I'm still looking for a good flat panel machine and considering getting a vintage Singer. Right now I have a Sentro, and even though it's great at knitting in the round, it takes some work to do panels as it loves to drop the end stitches.

I don’t think anyone sells replacement parts for these inexpensive machines. Try asking on one of the Facebook user groups like Add King Loomers and Knits.
does there exist a knitting machine big enough to make a xxxxl hat? it's for someone who can't have any tension on the head, so like a head diameter of 22-24 inches. all the hats you showed at the start of this video seemed super tight and would be about 2/3 the diameter i need. thanks! also do these machines work with real wool or cashmere?

I received a Miaoke machine for Christmas. I didn't know which machine I wanted but I want to knit faster and use up all the yarn I have hoarded over the years. I donate all of my hats and scarves to a local shelter. This machine works perfectly with some yarns and not so well with others. I'm happy to have watched some of your videos. I believe your tips will eliminate some of my frustrations.

I went to youtube only to find out how to make the 1st row, because the yarn was falling of, as in 1 of your tips. All the other tips I literally discovered myself, really.

When I did my first Addi videos there was nothing so I sort of took you along for the ride as I figured it all out. You certainly don't have to discover all this stuff by yourself anymore as there are TONS of informational posts and videos at your fingertips. No reason to struggle through when you can hit the ground running and begin creating and discovering NEW things!
Hi Margaret! I just bought a Jamit machine. I wanted the ADDI King but they seem to be sold out everywhere and I needed something else to keep my hands busy. I spent most of today playing with my new machine and was getting very frustrated. I had watched many videos but something wasn't right. I found this video a nd what a game changer! Thank you so much. Your delivery is perfect and I followed your tips and started another hat. I am almost finished and so far it looks great! I am so excited. I like to do charity knitting but I cannot hand knit all day due to arthritis. I love all of your videos. I am going to make a point of going back and watching ALL of them.

I'm a crocheter and loom knitter, making a jump to add circular knitting machines to my crafty repertoire. Ordering both the Addi King and Addi Pro (I also do TONS of crafting for charity!) and was looking for ways to speed up what I'm doing and boost my output (more stuff getting out to where it needs to go!) Hi I'm new to the knitting game. I started with the looms I worked my way up to the double circular rotating loom and now I'm at your level here. the first thing I did was put a silicone mat underneath the feet cuz I was working on a wooden table and I knew that wasn't going to stay put so that's my tip silicone mat inexpensive keeps it from sliding thanks for the video and the tips.

Love your videos! I just received a 48 pin Sentro for a Christmas. After watching your videos, I was lucky enough to find a round table for me to set the machine on. I cut a hole in the middle of the top. There is a open basket attached to catch the knitted fabric in.

I am the second type. I have a Sentro and I like it. Next year I will get an Addi.
I started on the large sentro machine and it worked perfectly right out if the box. But it DOES work better with certain yarn. The pink generic i got second and i got it to work but again the yarn matters. Finally, i did get the addi and of course it works better with all the yarn i had except the bulky yarn.

So happy I found you. I finally opened my Sentra 48 needle yesterday. I spent all day looking at various videos and just couldn't get it to work. It kept dropping stitches after the cast on. Use a soft rubber mat under the machine if it's on a shiny surface - or fit a balloon over each foot which will give additional traction. Love these videos : )
That's a great idea for traction but I really need it affixed to the table. (Not everybody does.) During the cranking process, it moves up and down not just forward and backward... at least for me it does!

Also, I actually hold/secure the machine with my left hand while cranking with my right hand and that has worked well for me. ❤️
I'm so glad your Loops and Threads machine has held up nicely! I wish they could improve the consistency of production quality because it's a perfect size. This little pink machine seems to work beautifully so keep that in mind if ever yours wears out!
Whenever I am going to use my cheapy machine I use clear wide tape and can practically use it on any surface. Then I just remove tape when I am done.

Love your videos. Here's an additional tip for stubborn yarns. Like in your demonstration when you changed yarns and you had the lifting problem...I have found placing my hand gently but firmly on the knitted stitches, just before the needles begin to rise up. It helps keep the yarn down on the teeth where it belongs. I also knead the knitted stitches a little down inside the machine to keep the stitches uniform. Your weights will help as well. I've just found this also helps when changing yarns. Also when i make hats I roll up the completed work inside the machine. It gives the added weight and tension needed to keep the yarn from lifting. I don't have a table with the slot in it, so my work will always knot up and it was very frustrating.

Your greatest tip was don’t give up. Keep knitting for about 15 turns was great. After about 14 rounds I was ready to quit. But I kept going and BINGO there it went, just like a Breeze.
Isn't that strange?! For some reason, certain yarns just need some time to get in the groove! Ha! (Like me when I first wake up in the morning!) Glad I had something helpful to share!

I am new to circular knitting I started with Addi King and have been delighted so far. I found that winding the balls on my wool winder helps them go through easier even very course yarn. I place my yarn into ice cream box like we do on my mums long bead knitting machines then place wool winder wound ball in and cast on start knitting, works the best, I have tried straight from balls but it just seams to start dropping stitches. I live in New Zealand so yarns we get here are different. Alpaca goes through very well and knits like a dream.

Hey Margaret! I got my new addi Pro to replace the addyi that does not count. Had a lot of trouble with it and ended up taking it all apart. Thank you for giving me the confidence to take it apart! LOL it bound up very tightly, and I was looking for needles that were bent or didn't work so I had it all apart. In the long run since I didn't want to send it back to Germany as they wanted me to I looked even closer with a little flashlight and found out it's the new row counter! Anybody that tells Addie that they really need a counter on their Addi, will probably get this new one back in the mail. They should just expect it to get a bit tight around the black needles and when it's past counting it snaps kind of loud and then it goes again. You just have to put up with the noise. Just keeping you up on my latest shenanigans! I figured that you would want to know about that because people will think there's something wrong with the machine and it's just the spring inside that makes noise when it counts the row for you. I hope this wasn't too disorganized, but I have ADD and it's the best I can do! LOL!

That is exactly what I thought with my Addi, that there was something wrogwith it and if I continued that i would damage it.. Now I know what the snapping sound is as you pass the black needle and now I am using it confidently. Its going brilliant, and I used Stylecraft Special Effects DK Yarn (I'm in UK). Knitted scarf and hat sets and Ive watched all Margarets videos and learned a lot from her. Thank-You Margaret, couldnt have done it without these fantastic informative videos. And Thank-You Cookie for pointing that out about the counter on the Addi.

Love your performance style. I’ve been on Bond, Silver Reed, Brother Punchcard, (with ribbing bed) Brother Chunky knit and Knitmaster machines since early 1980s. BUT I’m really excited as have TWO Addi circular knit machines on order. (1 each size) in the 1980s we used to put Mohair yarn in the REFRIGERATOR for a day or so BEFORE knitting on machines, it really helps. Try it with other yarns? I also agree , watch RUclips, I learnt REVERSIBLE Fairisle knitting, both sides are the RIGHT (knit side). with the Fair Isle pattern appearing on opposite sides with colours reversed😎 It’s like commercially knitted Double Jacquard. Soooooo looking forward to new machine technique. I may post a video revealing my results with the Addi working with my own hand spun yarns. Big LoveLight Stephen ❤️
I've heard of the refrigerator tip but have never tried it! Glad to know it works. I have a flat bed that broke shortly after i purchased it second hand and haven't bothered to find a repair shop. Very wise, Deborrah! I can't tell you the number of people who complain about the machine only to discover that there's actually a learning curve involved! The machines are so misleading because it really DOES look so simple! In truth, after you get down the "personality" of your particular machine, it IS easy but there ARE some tricks to learn first. Margaret, you are soooo right!! this red heart super saver was a horrible experience, but when I tried just using Caron 1lb purple, was a beast to use! BUT I did get through it. I am doing your version of Kate Spade's color block scarf and hat. I did get through it with your help and using my left hand to tension it. Hello again, Margaret,My question has to do with "reversible hats". These are the ones that are made of a double layer of material and as they come off the Addi King-size, they are twice the length of a single layer hat. Once they are knit, the bottom is shoved inside ... up towards the top of the hat. As I understand it, the two layers of material are NOT knit together at the top as seems to be the case when one adds a pom-pom to such a hat.Once the hat is knit and turned inside out, the strands of yarn are clipped off about a half inch long - where yarn has been joined or where color changes were made. My question has to do with how can this hat be "reversible" if all of those approx. 1/2 inch long strands of yarn will still be visible?Blessings to youDavid
My method is close up one end and trim the tail so that it doesn't show at all. Then, I close up the other end BUT I don't trim the yarn yet because I use it to sew the 2 ends together after stuffing one end inside the other. Once the ends are attached to each other securely, I guide the needle between the 2 layers of the hat, poke it out through one layer about 4 inches down, and snip the yarn. That 4 inches of yarn is neatly sandwiched btw the 2 layers of hat.
Everything you have said here is true in my experience. I have found that for me, different yarn works better in different machines, for example, i could not get my red heart supersaver yarn to work on anything but my addi. However the caron simply soft worked great with all my machines . I have not yet tried the vannas choice. What i have found recently is that i have to start over 2 or 3 times before the machine decides to cooperate and work. Same yarn, just takes re starting, so dont give up. Btw i have the large, pink sentro (that was my first one), the smaller pink generic (the one Margaret uses here) and the large and small addis.
great comment!! have you ever tried cashmere yarn? (if it even exists, or maybe merino yarn). that is the only reason i want to buy a knitting machine. but since you have tried so many yarns with different machines you would probably know immediately if they work or not. I hate to spend $300 on a large adi (or whatever they cost) only to find out i'm stuck with acrylic D: lol I am severely sensitive and can't wear any artificial fibers.
I bought the Weaver Epoch the one you just demonstrated. It worked beautifully for me right out of the box. My first hat came out great even with 3 diffrent color yarns.

You are such a wonderful teacher, thank you for the videos, I started off with the same piece of junk that you showed us all, and I thought that's it I'm just not destined to be able to do this! So the piece of junk sat there for a while, then I thought well, it's not working anyway, so I pulled it apart, and discovered that it was just never going to work the way it was made it was a bodgy item from the start!! I have since bought an innovations one and providing I use lighter yarn and weight as well as giving it a tug from time to time, I'm pretty happy with it, although, it does seem to be shredding itself as there is white plastic dust on the surface, but I still like it. Recently though I have gotten an addi and it's really nice, but it did cost nearly $400 Australian dollars. Cheers!

I've given it quite the workout and it's holding up beautifully and works like a charm. I like that it makes mid-size products, too!

I'm going to see if I can get one of those pink ones, l'm not sure how long my innovations one will last. I like the two sizes also, and I would like to get the smaller addi as well but I was looking at the video again and you had small ones there, which one was the best one out of the cheapies in your opinion and can make babies beanies for the hospital. In my little village here in Tasmania, we have a lovely little yarn shop, and the lady has a chalk board with sayings on it, this is the saying for the week, "knitting takes balls!" Oops! My husband put1 my machine on a board then little blocks with hole in middle just big enough to have suction cups to fit in glued suction cups into place works great and easy to move around

I bought suction cups for my loops and threads 40 needle machine and found that galvanized steel diy signs found in most craft departments or craft stores allow a good suction to take place with the suction cups and using a set of clamps makes a temporary platform for the machines.

I just bought a less expensive 20 pin machine. Made in China of course. Got it today, about 4 hours ago.
Been watching YT videos for over a week, so thought I was ready. Wrong!
My first problem was figuring out tension. Combined with how to keep this legless thing from moving around. Figured out how to keep it stable while keeping appropriate tension. #1: Pull new yarn out of the skein (a few yards at a time as needed) until it will flow freely. Found a way to hold down the machine (hand through the base with thumb on front upper face) while running yarn between my thumb and hand. I'm also working up plans to build a dedicated circular knitting table. Waiting for the second, larger machine to arrive before cutting any lumber. One thing for sure: there will be a hole in the middle for the project to drop through. Rearranging a 3 foot piece of fabric every few rows is, to me, unacceptable.
Then noticed the yarn was not always sliding down the back of the separation bumps. The yarn was snagging on poorly molded bits. Wound up using an Emery board to gently file the sides and inside points smooth. It took some time, but it was worth it!
After several false starts and messes, I have now completed a full 3 foot long tube. It still looks a bit wonky, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with my tension and forgetting to pull more yarn out of the skein.
Thank you for your tips. I have been watching the wrong spot, and didn't catch quite a few stitches that didn't drop properly.

I have the Sentro 48 pin machine and what i've found is that my solid colours work better than variegated because they are softer. I've found some use out of adding some baby powder to the centre of the skein to soften the yarn, and increased the tension and I stopped dropping stitches on the variegated stuff.

OK I was on Amazon and I saw this machine. It is one of those knitting machines but it’s a circular knitting machine but it’s got a square but it’s got square body to it and it is 99% just like the Addy it comes with clamps to hold it down, screwdriver to tapestry noodles and a crochet hook baby and two yarn. Two skeins of yarn.

Greetings, Margaret,I am wondering if anything can be done about my Addi King-size being very hard to crank at times. It does run freely when no yarn is on the machine. I am guessing that the particular yarn being used may be a factor, but, then again, I am not really sure. I only use #4 worsted weight, 100% acrylic yarns like "I Love This Yarn" by Hobby Lobby and "Simply Soft" by Caron. As you have pointed out before, yarns can vary in actual thickness - even amongst the same yarn "family". Different colors within that same family can also vary in thickness.Of course all of these machines do seem to "drag" somewhat when they reach the counter & that is expected. Thicker yarns do seem to be harder to crank in my experience. When the machine is really "laboring" during the cranking, I find it can "wear out the operator" much more quickly. I really don't have anything to add, David, as you seem to understand everything I know! In a nutshell, merely adding the yarn element puts tension on the machine. Thicker yarn naturally adds more tension thus making it harder to crank. If the #4 worsteds are giving you a problem, try letting them flow freely into the machine (applying no tension or guidance with the left hand)

I'm really enjoying all your very informative videos and am happy I subscribed to your channel. I will hopefully be getting my first knitting machine on or before Christmas and until then I'm going to try some manual loom knitting. I'm a crocheter and these knitting machines and even loom knitting is all new to me, but I love yarn, so time to learn a new craft and keep evolving! Thanks for all your help! It's much appreciated!
I started with loom knitting, Beverly! Then I moved to crochet, couldn't get the hang of knitting; found these machines; later learned to knit and I still love these machines! Ha!

I know this video is 4 years old, but I'm just beginning on my machine. How do you change colors mid- project? I LOVE variegated yarns, but there's no control over where different colors will stop in your projects, so I'd like to use different solid colors throughout. THANK YOU!

The worst machine I ever used was the Bond Ultimate Sweater Machine. My joke with my family is that it was a pox upon my house. I am a very specific person, and can usually get anything to work the first time. The issue with the bond knitter, is the catching of the cartridge on the needles- and general poor design. I'm still looking for a good flat panel machine and considering getting a vintage Singer. Right now I have a Sentro, and even though it's great at knitting in the round, it takes some work to do panels as it loves to drop the end stitches.
I had a used Brother machine but it broke before I had a chance to learn many skills. I kept meaning to get it fixed but finally gave up!

I don’t think anyone sells replacement parts for these inexpensive machines. Try asking on one of the Facebook user groups like Add King Loomers and Knits.

does there exist a knitting machine big enough to make a xxxxl hat? it's for someone who can't have any tension on the head, so like a head diameter of 22-24 inches. all the hats you showed at the start of this video seemed super tight and would be about 2/3 the diameter i need. thanks! also do these machines work with real wool or cashmere?
