How to Replace Fenders and Bumper on Honda (88-91 Civic CRX)

- I found a set of much nicer fenders at the junkyard the other day. Pretty simple install requiring only a few basic tools. This can be completed by someone with not very much mechanical experience. The process is the same for CRX models with the exception of not having to remove a filler piece as the CRX models do not have a front filler piece.

You're welcome
The vid helped a lot, cant wait to add my new fenders soon. good stuff as always Jon!
Glad to always be a help!
Great video helped me a lot , On 5:12 where you said there's the second bolt apparently on my 89 SI CRX there's a another one right next to it. Making a total of four bolts
👍
Just got two fenders today, time to put this video to use!
Sweet!
Nice video awesome work great choice of cars......JDM
Appreciate that!
Awesome video with great detail!!!!

so the 88 hatchback fenders will fit on the 90 hatchback?
nice vid should be real easy now!

Hey brother i got 89 civic sedan and i love it and want to swap with another super car engin bc its genion engin is very slow and v.bad performance i want to be like . . . Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommm. . . Hahaha u know what i mean bro i hope u understand my feelings . . .so kindly if u will suggest me any successfull swap with this car for a good performance like lambrogini . . . .
You'll want any K swap that you can afford. That'll give you the most power, then you can turbo it for even more power.
Hello GBH. Will a Civic DX's fenders fit on a CRX with no problems? What would I have to look out for?
The CRX's fenders are much more expensive than the ones for a Civic. Why so?
The hatchback ones fit but they are different at the bottom because they don't have the cutouts for the lower door moldings. And it's a slightly different shape under the corner light. Google it, you'll see some.
What's that yellow piece at 6:14 that connects the filler to the bumper so the bumper won't dangle. It has 2 screws on it
Eric Hernandez Not sure what the technical term is but it mounts to the fender bracket and has the 2 screw mounts for the bumper on the corner.
i need a fender for my 1990 civic wagon , do you know if can use any 90-91 civic fender ? suchas the hatchback or sedan ?
Only wagon
@3:30 all 3 bolts that you point out are 10s?
OEM ones will be. If someone changed them before you hopefully they still used the same. A lot of goofs get their hands on these cars sometimes and worsen them.
Thank you and you guessed it, not only did they widen them but also stripped the grooves. Smh. Thanks for the reply
Darn, that's too bad.
Hoping you could help.
I have a 91 civiv lx and im wounding what rim width i am able to run without rolling my fenders. I would like a 15x7 with 0 offset.
You can run that if you want to leave it at stock height. Or you can run about -4 degrees in camber if it's lowered.
Not trying to run neg camber could you recommend a good size and offset would like to keep a good contact patch
15x7 or 6.5. 205/50 tire. Offset around +25 to +35. Google some of those sizes to get an idea of how the tire looks on those sizes.
Somebody please tell me what those rims are

where did you get those clear corner lights?
eBay! like $20ish
will it be the same taking off the bumper on a 1990 honda civic sedan ?
Yes, except you'll have three Phillips screws and a clip holding the small grill above the filler piece. I can't remember off the top of my head but I believe it can stay attached to the filler as long as you remove the top screw.
Jon Widmer oh alright thanks then am doing it right lol cause i was wondering why my bumper wasn't coming off
Jon, do I have to take off the splash guard to remove the fender? or it comes all together
Kevin Martinez It will come off with the fender. you'll need to remove the screws first and separate it from the fender lining though. Unless you're pulling the lining off with the fender at the same time.
Jon Widmer I have another question about your rack and pinion video, here in Mexico is too hard to get Ef parts, so I need the rack end bushing, I can't find it anywhere, does the power steering bushings are the same? or what else I can put to avoid the play on the steering wheel
Kevin Martinez The power steering one doesn't have the bushing. plus the rack is a larger diameter. I would try to find a Honda parts supplier that ships to Mexico. There might be some out there.
Jon Widmer thanks Jon, your channel is the best one to Help Ef enthusiast keep the good job man
Kevin Martinez Thanks man!
awesome!
Do the crx have the bumper support?
No
How are crxs? There is one for $850 it runs but needs major work but I'm willing to fix it and hell I'll put a b series engine
Awesome, fun cars! $850 isn't bad. Is the body pretty straight?
Does the hatchback bumper fit on the sedan also?
Yes, I've seen it on there, but it looks a little funny because it's short
Garage Built Hondas do you know of anywhere that sells the sedan bumper?
I don't currently. Google it, there may be some for sale online.
Haven't been able to find anything unfortunately, I guess I'll have to wait for a part out
Go to a junkyard. There were 2 there when I went a few months ago.
Jon is there a sub for 90 CRX fenders
For perfect fit, no.
Only substitution would be using EF hatch but they use different corner lights and under the corner light the size is different so it'll be off. It's also a full fender unlike a CRX so you won't be able to use your lower trim molding.
@@GarageBuiltHondas thanks....the search continues....
Good luck! They make replacement new ones online
@@GarageBuiltHondas quality?
Not OEM, but my guess is if you're looking for fenders your car isn't a show stopper. Know what I mean? Lol
They usually fit well.
hey Jon can i use a 1989 front bumper pm my 1991 hatchback
yes, I made a video 2 days ago about this. ruclips.net/video/h7Zf8j4aiFk/видео.html
do i got to change somthing would it Bolt right in ???
bumper support brackets need to be swapped out along with the bumper support.
What about the 91 crx which has no filler piece. Btw your goood
+Nicky It's even easier, remove all the same screws on the corners, the bumper lights and the 4 bolts behind the bumper lights, and the 2 bolts on the bottom of the bumper and off it goes!
Your the best waiting more videos have a 91 oem crx was in perfect condition until i had an accident. Thanks to you i will try do most oc the works by myself
Nicky good luck!!
hey jon great info! btw i see ur hood are you planing on getting another hood.
I got it that same day with the fenders, it's on the car already! I just didn't do it that same day. 😀
+Jon Widmer right on. i think ur just about done with the hatch
+joethecollector seems never ending! lol
+joethecollector Noooo freakin way!! That hurts me especially seeing how clean your hatchback it!
+Jon Widmer it's not as bad as it sounds. there is an indention in the center garnished and two big scratches on my bumper and two tiny little scratches on my hood. I'm going to an auto body shop tomorrow so they can appraise the damage. since I wasn't the one at fault the other insurance company is going to have to pay the deductible. I'm just curious how much the damage is going to be estimated at. I don't let anyone touch my car not even a body shop. so my insurance company is going to cut me out a check.
Using this tutorial to fix my bumper. It's sagging and my filler is bent I think :(
You can find new fillers from about $50 brand new if you need one.
Jon Widmer I just bent my back into place once I had the bumper off.
Nice
