Please, everyone needs to buy Garage Built Honda decals. This is the BEST channel ever. I am currently building and swapping 89 civics. He knows allot!!!
After the A/C success I checked out your other stuff and found this. It is perfect for the work I am going to do on restoring my door panels. This shows me exactly how to remove them and will make things much easier. Thanks!
dude your videos are awesome! it actually motivated me to do an exact copy of your build on my 91 hatch. same bolt on but I did the obd1 conversion with the p75 ecu and ys1 non lsd trans... keep it up man!
Jon Widmer I want to get it running first. The swap is done but I'm having little shit pop out and having to fix it. Btw, I saw that on mine the steering column has play from side to side. Looking at it has cardboard wedge in (I guess last owner did that to reduce the play) right in the bracket that holds it in. Is this a common thing on efs?
Efrain Ballon I've never experienced it and I've had a handful of EFs. Check to see if all of the brackets/hardware is present. Maybe something is missing so they shoved the cardboard in there to try and fix it.
Jon thanks so much.... I already take apart everything and adjust my door, now it closes so smooth... and I already order the rack end bushing I hope it fixes my problem
That's sweet! You can get a new rack for $98 off of ebay. I just got one for my Si and installed it the other day. Car feels excellent now with the new rack.
Jon Widmer I was wondering Jon, my Ef makes a lot of noises inside the car... like rattle noises, plastic pieces moving, I already tighten up every single bolt, put new clips like the ones on the door panel, but I can't delete the noises, and my question is, every Ef is like that? I was searching in Google and some people said that an EF that doesn't make noise is not an EF lol... If you can help me with that or post some videos later I'll appreciate it, and I hope the rack bushing fixes my rack problem, if not I'm gonna need a new one
Hey! LOVE your channel! I just bought an 88 crx that i’m going to start restoring. just curious if you have any recommendations for where to get door panel, trim and number clips. I’m also wondering where to get rubber trim and seals for the doors and windows and sun roof
Excellent video I have a question. How were you able to pull that metal tab that hooks up to the frame? I followed how you did on the video but after I installed the door that tab went in and I can't pull it out far enough to put the pin back in.
So grateful for this. I've always wondered what lived in that mystery zone inside the door. I was really surprised to not see any kind of side-impact protection bar in there. No wonder the EF/CRXs are so light. *nervous laugh* No wonder people have told me for years, not to get T-boned.
Hey do you think you can make a video on how to replace the driver side window? Just got my car back after it was stolen and the window is just completely obliterated. Along with my cylinder lock lol. Thank you in advance.
@@GarageBuiltHondas It did! I think at some point in the cars life, the drivers side door had been open, and the car have either rolled, or been driven in reverse, hitting something that made the door slide forward towards the front end of the car. Made the door sag, and not close right, as well as making it so that you could hear a lot of road noise when driving, coming from the b-pillar area. After adjusting it, i managed to get rid of all those problems. Amazing! ^_^
I was waiting for you to make a video on how to remove the door panel etc. But i would be really appreciated if you can show us a tutorial on how to remove or adjust the window when it is off track etc. Thank you
Great videos dude! Just found your channel today and have watched a few. I whole-heartedly agree with Password:CRX... really motivated to take apart and fix various things on my car. So I wanted to ask how the weld on the door check was holding up. I was thinking of doing the same for mine (it was broken when I got it) Also, can you confirm if the arm of the door check (the one inside the door) is that thing spring loaded? I read somewhere that it will get "pulled back in," just slightly, when the pin is removed. But that you can easily push it back out when the door panel is off - in order to get the pin back in. Many thanks for the videos and keep them coming!
Jason Waid Jason, thanks for checking out my channel, I really appreciate the support! The weld is holding up so far. I tried to make it as strong as possible but it might break off in time, we'll see. The arm does retract into the door slightly when you remove the pin. I used a small pick to put into the hole and pulled it out to reattach the pin through the latch. It's nice that the door is working normally again and staying open when I want it too!
HAHAHAHA, I hear ya! If I am parked on an sort of an incline I'm pretty much hating life. Good news for me is, I think my passenger-side door check is only missing the pin, so that should be an easy fix... it's the driver side that's going to be tricky. I'll give the weld a try and see how it goes *fingers crossed* p.s. Thanks for the reply!
hey Jon got a question, to adjust the door, you have to tighten the 12 mm bolts that you did on the video? my door is too low, and is a pain to shut it, a friend told me to adjust it in other bolts but it's the same, so doing it like you did it, will fix my problem?
Kevin Martinez It probably will. more than likely your hinges are worn creating the saggy door. if you adjust them like I did, you can usually offset them being saggy and have the door close perfect.
Quick question I’m trying to put my original door handle on my 91 si the one I have on rn is from a accord and doesn’t have a key hole so do I pop off the door handle and that’s it or do I need to go through the door panel to switch them out??
Quick question, nothing to do with the door, what fender will fit a 91 Honda Crx HF, I was told the hatchback is also comparable. if so what model and year?
None fit perfect except for the 88-91 CRX. The hatch is the next alternative but you won't be able to use the bottom original fender molding that comes on the crx and the corner light shape is different so you will need a hatchback corner light also.
Hey jon I have a 91 Civic Si hatch. DO you have a fix for seat belt light and door light on all the time. I dont know what I fix first the seat belt door i have no idea I though maybe you would know.
mochi12342 Your door latch mechanism needs replacing. I've had the same problem before and a new latch fixed it. Try to lubricate it first, and reposition the door striker on the body. It has 2 large Phillips head screws. Once you loosen them a little you can move it around.
GODSGUNSGLORY Yes, but you'll need to weld in some supports on the pillar where the 88-89 Civic or 88 CRX belt mounts. I've seen some write-ups online but seems like more trouble than it's worth.
That 90 door panel actually looks sturdier than the 96-00 panels. I was just changing mine with a set that were a bit better and its like dealing with brittle pasta. Its awful when you hear "CRACK" putting it back on.
i just bought an 86 accord hatch with a different color driver door since it was in an accident. the rest of the car is actually grey, would this be similar? sorry, im new to diy on my own car lol
the most scary thing changing moldings i have to change mines they are super faded and have few dings. but at least i found a full set on a mint condition.
Jon Widmer lol ef's are awesome I wanted a 1995 Honda Civic like the one that came out in 2 fast to furious but my dad told I found a car for would you like this one and I am like sure better than nothing, but then I actually fell in love with it I love my car.how old where you when this things came out
Bernie Reyes I was your age when they came out, but it wasn't until I was 25 when I got my first EF. a 1988 4speed STD model which needed a new clutch. It was a fun learning car and it started it all for me.
danny ramirez man, it would probably be pretty expensive. it weight about 70lbs. you could probably have better luck looking for a part out or in a junkyard close to you.

andrew mendoza this guy is legit lol he's like a Ef/crx master lol
Thank you for this video. Made pulling my driver side door and door panel so much easier.
You're welcome, glad to help!

I don't know if you can find those brand new anymore. I'd keep an eye out on eBay and try some of the OEM Honda parts websites.
Excellent video I have a question. How were you able to pull that metal tab that hooks up to the frame? I followed how you did on the video but after I installed the door that tab went in and I can't pull it out far enough to put the pin back in.
Use a needle nose pliers to pull it out. That's how I did it.
@@GarageBuiltHondas thank u so much for the help

Good tip using the floor jack to help raise the door!
Integra DIY I've got to, I'm always solo in the garage!

Baddest Burrito There really isn't, there is a small beam behind the molding but it's not super thick.
Really good video master ! Could you make a video how to install racing seats like the one u got in ur track car ?
Vidal Rodriguez lol master! I want to upgrade to a newer seat. when I do, I'll make a video on the old and new.
Hey do you think you can make a video on how to replace the driver side window? Just got my car back after it was stolen and the window is just completely obliterated. Along with my cylinder lock lol. Thank you in advance.
Did you attempt to fix it? Just got remove the door panel and you'll have access to it.
thank you for all your great videos.
mugenfan1000 thanks for your support, greatly appreciated!
What rim and tire size are you running on there? I like that fittment !
15x7+35 205/50

+carlosroamfreeposse You need to remove the door panel. The original bolts up to the inside of the door.
Good informational video, does someone know the exact clips he used as replacements for the door panel if someone can put a link down that'd be dope 😎
Go to eBay, type in Honda door panel clip. They will pop up in bunches!
Thanks

Door panel clips?
Yeah, the ones for putting the door panel onto the door
Yeah, the clips that you install in the panel at the 15:00 minute mark
WTF I FUCKING FINALLY THE VIDEO I NEED!! THANKS BRO!!!!
Anytime!
i can now change my rubber weather strip.. lol i got stuck looking on the internet 7:33 help me a lot
Glad to hear!!
hey jon is the doors for crx and civic the same?
Unfortunately no, the CRX has a smaller shape because of the slope/angle of the car.
When I think it's tightened it just loosens up again... Are there supposed to be clips behind it?
+Robert Shawiak There is mounting hardware that might need replacing.
I'm looking for a part number listing & description for a 1988 CRX.
Your help would be appreciated.
Find parts here. Hondapartsunlimited.com
quick question, is it possible to do the 88 seat belt conversion on 89-91 civic/crx?
GODSGUNSGLORY Yes, but you'll need to weld in some supports on the pillar where the 88-89 Civic or 88 CRX belt mounts. I've seen some write-ups online but seems like more trouble than it's worth.

srarcade I've never had bad luck with EF panels. They are pretty sturdy even after all these years.
Great video upload as usual!
AutoTechDale So are we going with HonDale after all? lol
Jon Widmer we will once I have a good Civic to work on
Thank you 🙌🙌

I have to do this tomorrow and I gota say those dam doors probably weigh more than me!!
Haha
Oh man, that auto seatbelt on usdm cars looks like such a pain to deal with.

Hey Jon on my 1991 Honda Civic one of the high beams doesn't work what could it be
Bernie Reyes check your fuses under the dash.

Why is the seat belt in the door? Is this US thing?
House Alan yes, 90-91 civic and 89-91 Crx had door mounted seat belts.
nice
I have a 90crx si . But I do not have a passenger window . It's hard to find one. Does anyone know if a window from a civic hatch is interchangeable?u
It can be hard to find them. The hatchback window doesn't fit. Only 89-91 crx will fit your car, or any crx that has the door mounted seat belts.
I need a rear side window fix for my 89 ef. It's loose and falling out haha
+Robert Shawiak which side? You can probably go tighten all the mounting parts.
I like your car and videos ( said hi to me please ) #firstcomment
