    Mine does sag bad. Hope to have learned from this. Thanks for posting and sorry bout the paint. I'm more worried I drop the door and the rust holding the mold that covers it gives way 😆

      Yeah sucks about the paint. Oh well. It happens. I can always repaint again later down the road. I hope it helps you out. Definitely best to have a helper when doing this. These doors are so heavy!

    Have a sagging driver door on my sedan. When the door is about 1/8th open I can lift up and feel the free play on the bottom hinge. Going to make sure all the bolts are tight before going down the hinge pin route.

    Appreciate you putting your nice honda thru the pains to make this video. My crx drivers door does sag just a bit so id need to address them eventually. When i attempt this i will put down a few layers of painters tape on the body in those areas to avoid the inevetable dings/scratches.

      I'm glad it helps others out. But definitely tape things up and have someone help you out. Definitely not something to tackle on your own.

      @@BudgetGears ill have my lovely wife help me hehe. May just take a chance on a used oem set of hinges and just swap the pins to retain my color matched hinges.

      @@trentonjardine2537 Or you can get new oem hinges! Since they're still available and all and would be guaranteed good. 😁 but new oem is quite pricey.

    Thanks for the videos...all of them! Very cool
    It would be interesting if you gave the correct measurements of the bushings, because there are some ads on aliexpress that bring the measurements😉

    • @BudgetGears

      lol. It's a little late to try and get the measurements. I'd have to take the door off again etc. But it would have been good if they made the correct bushing measurements.

    If you're taking the bumper, fenders and doors off wouldn't you be 10 times further ahead to just replace the whole hinge as an assembly and not have to mess with pins and bushings?

    • @BudgetGears
      @BudgetGears  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah that was an option. But the pins are significantly cheaper than new hinges. Also, if the hinges are discontinued, then this would be the only option. Either way, almost similar processes involved when replacing hinge over pins. Just with hinges there will be an additional step to realign the doors after.

    • @jessebrendel

      @BudgetGears just ordered pin/bushings kits. I think I'm going to try it one hinge at a time and just remove the door side of the hinge to replace bushings. It's an old commuter car so not to concerned with a knick or scratch. Really going to avoid removing the bumper and fenders.

    Should've showed how to align the door which was the whole purpose of replacing the hinges

    This is something I have zero desire to do at this point in my life lol Of course the parts you order dont fit as well.

    • @BudgetGears
      @BudgetGears  2 года назад

      Yeah its odd. It was a lot of work. Everywhere that makes the bushing kits have the same sizes. Makes me wonder if we have to change the entire hinge first before the bushing kits available would fit. Oh well. Most of the kit still worked.

    • @BudgetGears
      @BudgetGears  6 месяцев назад

      I haven't removed one myself, but looks like it might just be a couple bolts holding it in the door.

  • @canuckfixit7722

    This was disappointing. I'm at the same stage of this project with my '05 Honda Element but the left door remains fully attached. Unfortunately, you could only use one of the new bushings and had to reinstall an old one, so really only half the repair was completed. Door hinges in modern Hondas are stamped and pressed together as a unit and generally not rebuildable. I found the kit for $13 CDN on Amazon that is supposedly meant for Accords and CRVs. Would these pins and bushings fit if I ground out the old ones? I might have to trim the pins down as the set in the kit are too long.

    • @BudgetGears
      @BudgetGears  Год назад +1

      Technically, Honda did not intend for anyone to rebuild any of their hinges, which is why they make everyone replace the entire hinge. The thing with aftermarket rebuild kits is that it may not 100% work like in my case only half the bushings worked. As for the never style hinges, yes, you can grind them down and then use a pin kit with a threaded end. But keep on mind that you'll need to ensure the pin and bushings are the same size as the ones on your original hinge. A good way to check is to see if your car shares the same hinges as the accord and crv by comparing part numbers on honda sites. If they do, theoretically they should work, but like in my case it didn't fully work. As much as I like to save money, sometimes it's less headache if you just buy new hinges from Honda or buy some good ones at a wreck yard.

    • @canuckfixit7722
      @canuckfixit7722 Год назад

      @@BudgetGears The local Honda stealership wants a whopping $60 for the front left lower hinge and just $25 for each of the left upper and both right front hinges. The only bad hinge is the lower left! Bugger!

    • @BudgetGears
      @BudgetGears  Год назад

      @@canuckfixit7722 It is a pricey part, but after you replace it, you really won't be replacing it again for a very long time. I'd suggest going to a junk yard and seeing if there's any good hinges you can buy there. It's likely a part that's really cheap. It's not something people replace often.
