If you’re okay with being able to haul less crap around, the Audi S3 solves many of the Golf R’s annoying interior problems. Some materials aren’t as good as the old one, but that’s the unfortunate norm with many post-Dieselgate Volkswagen/Audi interiors. I’ve had a 2015 Audi S3 for over seven years and with proper snow tires, it’s a tank in horrible winter conditions and very easy to live with, never got it stuck either. I would consider replacing it with an S4 for a tad more comfort/refinement, otherwise it’s a great package.
The brilliance of this channel is not only in the inevitable charm of the hosts, but moreover, an actual practicality test by a small family gives a real world review rather than a spec sheet. Bravo!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Just about anything today is mountain friendly if you intend to stay on the roads. I learned to drive in the Sierra Nevada and back in the stone age of the 1980s most people had two wheel drive cars and pickups (often RWD). Its really not a big deal. Get winter tires if you in a snowy area and keep a set of chains in the trunk.
I love that I recognize all these roads! I grew up driving in these areas. And then as a pizza delivery driver. Would have been really nice in a ride like this!
They made this a lot more desirable-looking to my eyes in this generation. Personally I'd probably pocket the nearly 10k and get the Golf R but the Audi is definitely the looker of the two (not enough space for the infotainment...). Sweet car though.
...I would be too. I'd also naturally gravitate toward the fancy cars too. A Honda fit really doesn't grab the heart strings like a TLX Type-S A-Spec....
Audi has the best dashboard layout I've seen. They don't have an all flat display layout that looks plain in my opinion. Audi has a nice balance of display and depth of field design for it's dashboard
I agree this video Evie is laying down some heat: "I find this car really approachable, but the limits of it are definitely higher then what I can throw at it; Which makes me actually want to be a better driver." That's the beauty of entry level sports cars. Even people who generally don't like sporty cars can see the fun in having one. Everyday you get in, and are ready to have fun becoming a better driving and pushing your personal limits. It's no longer about having the most comfortable ride, or getting from Point A to Point B. But the journey, and just the experience while driving makes the car what it is. Just a beautiful description from someone who's not well-versed in the sports-car world. I think this would be the perfect daily driver, or entry level sports-car for someone who's not really comfortable with sportscars in general, or hasn't done any form of performance driving; The s3 is very approachable, and confidence inspiring.
The interior looks simple nice and clean, but it really need some color, perhaps red seats, a lighter color tan, or beautiful Brown baseball like leather. Great review as always
Good review. I agree with most of what you said. We just bought one 2 weeks ago. Great car for the $. Not cheap...but awesome driving experience...especially in DYNAMIC MODE!
The fact that this $45,000 300hp Audi S3 exists based off the Volkswagon Jetta/Golf R is the same reason why Acura thinks it is okay to sell a $35,000 200hp CVT Acura Integra while making it look like a hatchback ILX when it is just a rebadged $27,000 Honda Civic Si.
...if it doesn't, it is probably a (child) safety feature to prevent unwanted egress and help keep arms inside the car. A lot of cars have this feature.
The new RS3 was going to be my next car. Unfortunately, Audi Canada can't bring it into to the market due to regulatory reasons. The S3 is a similar recipe but the lack of that sport clutch pack the Golf R has makes it a no for me. I don't think I'll ever buy a Volkswagen again after the years of cost cutting.
Evie's "maybe" is probably generous. This looks like a very nice, but pricey 2+2. It might fit better once all children have their licenses! It is sad to see a car with so little trunk space and such a high price using those stone age trunk hinges instead of a compact, multilink hinge.
again, hate to be that person, but the car seat even a year later still isn’t properly installed and winter jackets in a car seat aren’t safe. I promise I’m not trying to be a Karen, but if you’re talking about safety aspects of a car, it is important to point out car seat safety as well, in my opinion. The car can be the safest car on the market, but if kids aren’t in proper seats for their age/weight or if it’s not installed properly, then the safety of the car as a whole won’t matter in the event of a car accident. Again, I promise I’m not being a karen, I can just tell safety is important to you guys 🤍
Hi, Scarlett. We're always open to input. I'm confused though. Based on our child's weight, height, and age, the NHTSA confirms she is more than qualified for a booster seat. As for the install, our booster features lower latch points, which are always connected, including in the Rogue video you watch. What are we missing regarding the install?
@@MicahMuzio by the looks of the video it looked like the forward facing latch wasn’t connected to the back. The AAP also recommends kids maxing the limits on seats, for example, our seat rear faces to 50 pounds so our children rear face to 50. Their forward facing seat also does the 5 point harness to 65 pounds so we do that until then. But the biggest concern now, is the jacket being on in the car seat. Car seat manuals even state no puffy or thick jackets as they interfere with how the seatbelt works in the event of an accident, they aren’t even safe for adults to wear. I could be totally wrong with the anchor not being attached and it could have just been because I didn’t see it. Again, I promise I’m not trying to be that person, just wanna make sure you guys know 🤍 now that it’s been a year, she definitely looks bigger than before and as long as she’s above 5 and is mature enough to seat in a high back booster with a seatbelt then it should be fine (which she totally did look mature enough, As in she wasn’t trying to escape the seat belt lol)
@@lavenderandchaos Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Scarlett! No offense taken here. We appreciate your kindness and concern. As for installation, our booster has no upper tether, only has lower Latch points, which we always connect. To your broader point though, no we don't max out the limits on our seats. That's a decision we've made in the interest of comfort and happiness. We also fly in a helicopter and make car reviews as a family, so I'm guessing our family's risk tolerance is different than yours. That said, practical risk mitigation is wise and your note about my kiddos jacket is a good one. We live in the mountains where it get really cold but for longer trips, making sure our daughter's jacket is removed or at least unzipped is a good strategy. In conclusion, thank you for being a good human who is concerned for the well-being of others. Cheers!

Love Audi but the fake exhaust they use on many of there vehicles is ridiculous & way to much piano black trim, also stop only offering black leather for ventilated seats. VW of course has the same issues & I really wish they'd stop with that trend because it's a bad trend.
The back and side profiles give me huge Kia Forte vibes. (Yes, I know Kia has poached a former Volkswagen group designer) Despite that, definitely best in class over the cheap looking A-Class and the ugly 2 Series.
What I don’t get…. You guys have so much access to driving so many cars and you settle on the Ford Bronco. I know it’s a decent car, but there are so many more refined SUVs. Anyway, hope the Bronco is doing well. Another great review. I would love to get something like this one day.
One of the best What Would Evie Drive yet. She really getting the knack

Always nice to see Evie’s perspective on cars.
So I just bought a 2022 Bronco Sport Base yesterday and so far it's the best suv ever.
I would pick the BMW m240 inline 6.... That engine is sublime
Evie is a big fan of all the fancy cars. Really great quality video as always
...I would be too. I'd also naturally gravitate toward the fancy cars too. A Honda fit really doesn't grab the heart strings like a TLX Type-S A-Spec....
I use to own a 2016 S3 and it was one of the best cars I ever owned. But I sold it cause of the maintenance costs were way too high.
Trying to choose between this or the Genesis G70, what are your thoughts?
Great review as always. Evie’s takes are very pragmatic and on point.
Love the channel!

Great video, as always, Micah.. Love Evie's take on the reviews... Glad your daughter didn't get sick on this car ride.

What about the blown tires from potholes?
Good review. I agree with most of what you said. We just bought one 2 weeks ago. Great car for the $. Not cheap...but awesome driving experience...especially in DYNAMIC MODE!
I love the length of the car. It's not humongous...
Are the back seats comfortable for long drives and is the cabin noise pretty good too?
"I like the 'a bunch of money part'". Lol
Excellent video y’all!😸
love the review, very informative! by the way they do have an AMG A class, A 35 sedan! otherwise LOVED the review
Buy the S3 its nice i appreciate your honesty on the car
Can you guys do a 2021 or 22 Toyota Venza would Evie drive? I am very curious if she would like the Venza.
Does Evie like it as much as her Mini?
But was it better than the Golf-R? "Same" car right? Or does Audi do the "S" better than VW does the "R"?
Nice car, I have an S4 and absolutely love it
Do a review on the new 2022 Mercedes Benz C300
We need some “I’m Sportily Sprhung” merch
I don’t understand why Porsche doesn’t use this version/tune of the EA888 in the Macan. Who wouldn’t want 40+ more hp?!

It's nicer than I expected. But does the rear window go down all the way? ✋😊

Love Evie's perspective. Micha is educating her too much though. It's nice to have a perspective from someone who knows nothing about the car.
2:45 Flying Eyes. Cool Car 🚘
Love the interior
Wonder how many of these are currently burning up on that cargo ship 😐
Ah Micah, drinking my favorite flavor of Bubbly
Cheers!
Rather have the hatchback A3, S3, and RS3.....but the think we, SUV nation, we want sedans?

Civic hatch sport with manual for half the price is all I can afford 😢
...or Mazda 3 hatch with a manual or the AWD turbo hatch version of that's important to you

I hate that you are holding a drink the whole time. Looks really unprofessional
