- This crew hasn't been toether since Avatar: The Last Airbender ended recording in 2008, but 15 years later they reunited - Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Dante Basco (Zuko), and Jack De Sena (Sokka) at c2e2 to discuss their experience working on the show, reflecting on the impact it's had, playing Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game, thoughts on the upcoming Avatar studios movies, and going back and rewatching the show along with Janet Varney (Korra) on the Nickelodeon podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements.

zach is extremely humble and introverted for someone that is the main character of the greatest show of all time. props to him
Also, no one could ever guess that he voiced Aang, because his voice got thicker.

It's a testament to how great of a job he did. Aang's character was larger than life from the first moment of the first episode. Sure, there were moments of confusion and doubt along the way, but you always had the impression that he had it together and kept a positive outlook despite being so young in a world that passed him by. Truly an inspiration.
Dante is nearing his 50s and he still sounds like a 20 year old. It's like this dude is never gonna age, lmao

I knew Zach recorded his lines at home, but I understand why he didn't come to conventions for so long. He must have kind.of felt separated from the rest of the cast compared to everyone else but im so glad he's back and rekindling his relationships. Definitely better late than never
He said before he was building up the courage to do them. Maybe Dante coached him. It’s definitely not easy, especially if you have a huge line. Zach came to a con in California. I filmed his line, it was packed all weekend, but he handed it well like a pro. If it was me, I be nervous AF.
Separated how?
Age gap and most importantly, he only met and filmed with the cast a handful of times during the entire filming of the show.
Aang primarily recorded at his parents home. I believe among the few times he "filmed" lines with the rest of the cast was when he was flown out for TV spots and specials so they can give the impression he filmed lines with the rest of the them.
I forget exactly where and when they went into detail, but I believe it was on Dantes podcast

Zack reminds me of Hayden Christenson. His demeanor appears pure, uncorrupt or unspoiled by fame. Seems like wholesome down to earth guy.

Considering how popular this show is, I'm surprised it's taken this long for a cast reunion.
Idk about all of them, but probably all of them have been having careers, so they've been busy.

And they haven't cared enough until now because it's an animated show. It sucks but that's the reason. Since you were surprised I thought I'd explain why it's taken so long

Bummed that Mae Whitman couldn't make it (and that I didn't get to ask my question), but as a day one fan of this show, this was such an incredible experience ❤️

@@drfifteenmd7561 well to be fair she’s the most busy one in the voice cast , she’s constantly working in new projects for example she has a Hulu series rn so it makes sense why she can’t always make these conventions

Glad Zach is meeting the fans. It’s tough and scary but we are all glad to see he is doing well.
It fills me with so much joy that Zack is attending these now, it never felt complete without him! Seems like he’s happy with it all too. Love the cast, and how you can see bits of their characters in them.
It's wild to me that Dante Basco is pushing 50 and still sounds exactly like he did 32 years ago when he played Rufio in Hook.
Yup, he was 16/17 around that time.

Dante talking about a fan interaction where they stated the show inspired a generation that wants to restore balance through protest gave me chills. Absolutely true!

Avatar the Last Airbender is like the Halloweentown movie. Those who loved it as a child, probably had shown it to thier children.

I watched/loved/rewatched a 1000times as a college student, when it came out first. Now my elementary school kid asks to watch this (and Korra) every 4-5 months. It's become a tradition. So, we watch this series at least twice a year.
@@calico27 I introduced it to kids i was taking care of during the day. They loved it too! And the little girl who had been 6 at the time would run down the hill saying that she is "AVATAR AANG".

I see why since they want the voice actors to be more fitting to the actually ethnicities of the characters. But I do kinda wish they stuck with the original voices, just to hear what it’s sound like since they’d fr be the characters aged up

12:17 I love Zach and Jack for this. Dante is kind of representative of how most of those people are. Truth hurts, but it's already been said. There wasn't a triangle. It just came full circle. It started with Katara and Aang, it ended with them.
I disagree that it started with aang and katara while the shows ending frame certainly paints it that way but storys not about surrounded around them and their relationship
@@theold4284 I'm sorry to break it to you, but whether or not you disagree, that's the way it was. Katara fought for Aang and Aang fought for Katara. The Avatar journey was only able to start because of these two. The ending doesn't paint it that way, it proves it that way. And the theme song is literally called the Avatar's love. You don't have to agree, nor do I need to make you see that. As I said, that's just the way it was. Sorry.

I was there! They apparently started turning people away it was too full. Mae Whitman was supposed to come, too, but we had such bad weather that weekend (like torrential downpour) that her flight got delayed and she was only available Sunday.

Since Avatar: The Last Airbender is turning 20 years old next year, I think it would be cool if Zach Tyler Eisen got invited to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon; even though Zach quit acting after the show ended, he could talk to Jimmy about the 20th anniversary of the show and how he was picked for the voice of Aang.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad that this video is here. I just wish this reunion panel consisted of all of the voice actors for the full "main gang" of the series. We still needed "Michaela Jill Murphy : Toph, Mae Whitman : Katara, Dee Bradly Baker : Appa". Well I guess in true Avatar fashion this panel just leaves the viewer wanting more from it, just like the series did.

Me and my brothers used to set up our TV to record avatar when we were gonna miss it. Straight to vhs. The TV had to be on and nickelodeon channel had to be on as well. Amd the vhs thing was set to record at a certain time.....the time the show aired. Commercials and all.
what do you think about uploading these tapes? there’s ways to get them on a digital format. i think i speak for fans that there will be an audience for vintage tv avatar, commercials and all.

Dante is great, but maybe a little oblivious - though that adds to his charm! I have to wonder though, does he know that Zuko's character arc is one of the greatest character arc journeys in any medium (books/tv/movies/etc)???
