Aye good luck to you mate. Some time's you just have to take a step back from your own reality and indulge in someone else's lol. I do the same when my s#-ts getting on top. And even though every now and then I do manage to find time to do the things I take pleasure in watching others do on RUclips... When I can't it's such a good way to decompress and chill, it helps me soooo much to forget the ills of real life and then I'm ready to keep stepping forward. Sorry for long message pal. Hey Robert, loved watching your videos for just over a year, I’m a new salmon angler started end sept 22 and must have missed you on the tweed at the Yair by a few days. I fished Chester’s a few weeks later than you with a tinny bit more water in and similar experience, loads of fish showing and rain. My legs were so bruised and no fish. I did well from dilston in the summer. You inspired me to go to Alston I hooked and lost first go and second to last day of the season I got a 14lb in the same pool as you on the switch rod. Can’t wait to see more vids. Maybe bump into you on the bank sometime. I’m based in Leeds so get up and fish the the tyne, tweed and wear quite a bit. You don’t realise how much you have helped my fishing! 💫

I watched this video while on the bank and great video carl in my opinion your the best fishing RUclipsr and I want to say thank you for all your help because just last week I landed my first ever 20 pound carp !
To be fair I think you’d beat most people in fishing contests. Riverpiker and Ginger fisherman possibly exceptions in their specialties. Rods Angling would be the prefect competition on a beach. Great video!!! Like a weird dream. What a wonderful collection of people all unexpectedly together. I think Adam from Adam’s fishing adventures would be a good match up.
Carl is my kind of angler - in a hurry and lazy. That's why I walk around the banks here in London, Ontario, Canada with 6-12 rods ready to go. If I want to try a different presentation, it's already tied on!
Great vid as usual! We do have Crucian carp in the UK.. I have caught them in Lodge lake, Milton Keynes and im sure they are present in many other waters!
Cheers Mike! Yeah we have crucian! Love them :) however this is called a Prussian carp/giebel (Carassius gibelio), very similar! But only found in Europe.

I loved the video. I think the main reason the catfish were hard to get in is likely due to the reel(a really strong and durable one) or line(you would usually need around 25 - 50 pound line). Not sure about the rods but catfish poles are really thick. Around an inch and a half thick. Ive seen the wels cats get up to 200 pounds in rivers. Nice job!

It's amazing how many different colours the sturgeon are, no 2 look the same. Well done lads on all the fish you caught.
I’m no expert, but I believe the ones with the white markings are European Sturgeon, and the darker ones are Siberian Sturgeon.

They're special, we saw a different species of kingfisher in Thailand, darker in colour, almost black! Ahh glad to hear it mate :) take it easy

Very nice video as usual! The fish you caught at the 17min mark is called a 'Giebel' in dutch I believe. Very fun to catch on a light feeder rod.
