Never mind Carl. Your videos helped me get back into angling after a 20 year break and I'm sure you've inspired thousands more; Matt's a proper laugh. Great video as always.
@@fishwithcarl thanks for loving my comment I do fishing my self this is my mother's phone mine died and I'm out but my dad teaches me but I would say I'm a good beginner
great film, loved the interview part and the banter. Im sure you picked up a few things maybe worth a short vid on what you would change if you did it again, maybe a new talkie series Cuppa with Carl where you break down a few key things from the experience.
close match (if you remove 20 pounds from one of you). i know of a basic fishing book that might come in handy; it's not written from experience catching any fish though ;p
Back in the day - John Wilson took on Dick Clegg. And won. Just saying! 😂😂 Nice fun video. Thank you. And the Ginger-Ninja is a great sport. And leg-end to boot. 👍👏👏👏👏
This video made my Sunday morning! You guys were so funny together but what else is new? You're always funny Carl! From the shameless plug to your book (which I still need to get by the way) to catching that elusive trash fish when the boat was coming by. Thanks to you, Cal and Matt for all of the hearty laughs this morning!!
I’ve got a suggestion where you should fish and prove to people how ace you are , Harold park , it’s a hard water because there’s only 70 ish carp in there , it’s a massive park lake but if you catch its 12 pound or plus , the fish in there go up to about 32 pound (carp ) there’s 15 pound bream and about 10 pound tench , I recon you should give it a try !
A few more videos with Matt and the Guru guys would be cracking! Video idea… he has to help coach you against another guru lad. Or… you enter a local match and Matt coaches you 😂 (great advertising for guru)
Through n through carp angler but i love watching match men. Winning ways with Jamie n Andy is great, all joking aside the watercraft they teach is incredible.
Just want to say thank you! I am currently on dialysis 3 times a week I found your channel I love watching your videos and time flys in the hospital thanks pal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've always thought of myself as an amazing fisherman, until I started competing with the pros! Those people are crazy. Seriously you cannot even comprehend how good they are until you observe them in a serious competition. Tight lines!!
Great video Carl and a really great question at lunchtime. The sacrifices made to be a match fisherman. They are enormous and Matt underplayed that answer. The match circuit is relentless at Matts level. I'm sure he loves every minute of it but it's a fulltime job. Match fisherman aspire to get sponsorship and then when they get it they have no free time. It's a real sacrifice being a top level match fisherman.
Dude when you write me vs a pro, you think you are not good? Then let me tell you this: you are amazing at fishing and i very like you videos, and i really enjoy watching them. And thank you for Inspiring me
Carl, I loved this video! All fishing is fantastic and I am sure every fisherman will agree? When I was only knee high to a grasshopper my father took me to the Grand Canal in the center of Dublin city and I caught my first roach , I was 4 years old. My passion for angling was born instantly for the love of the waters edge and the need to be by its side. My pursuit of the waters finned swimmers lead me along a path to where I found myself fly fishing and in my true element of angling. Your video with Matt caught something special for me ( Matt you are a legend!) an angler in his element and Carl (you are the embodiment of what it means to be a fisherman) so skillful in your approach bringing my thoughts back to that first ever roach ! You two were great on camera together, I reckon you should do a 24hr carp angling session competition rematch! Thank you for a super video! Tight lines and wet nets!
I think im one of your biggest fans already, been watching your vids for a month and already addicted 😂 anyways, random question but when it rains could you film a vid of fishing in the rain? Know it sounds weird but its really relaxing for me. Dont want to make you go out of your way though 😂😊
@@fishwithcarl Back a month later watching this again. I think this has to be my favourite video of the year so far (total viewed) id love to see more with anglers like Matt.
Hi Carl sorry been away for a while. I’ve got a spot suggestion. Tatton Park,Cheshire. In Tatton mere is a 57lb 4oz common that I thought you would like the target. Love the content man. Theo
Carl I’ve been fishing a lake called at hartsholme park I’ve fished it for a year now and only had 1 bream but their is a 28 pound ghost carp I think that swims around with 2 commands and a couple of week ago a 30+ carp was pulled out so would u take the journey to fish this lake
Matt needs to be in more videos epic as always mate .I’ve been a subscriber for five or six years now and these videos help me get through long commutes home from work .and make me want to fish 24/7
Ive been watching your videos for years now! Ive been waiting for you to do a video with someone from the proffesional Match fishing Scene! I live in Ireland and fish matches every weekend! I was lukcy enough to Meet Steve Ringer at the World Championships a month ago! Savage Man! Need more videos like this!!!!
As a Canadian fisherman, this style of fishing in the UK has a special charm to it. Something about perfecting still fishing has turned something simple into an art almost. Love the videos!
I do not get match anglers. Takes 5 minutes to bring the pole in for a tiny perch. Where is the fun in it? I'll stick to carp and cats 👍 Neithertheless, another well put together video Carl.
Cheers Gary! Yes, it can seem like that, but in a match scenario this technique actually works immensely well and is really efficient at speed. It's also about the accuracy the pole enables too to continually bait the spot. This is why they use this kind of gear, it certainly works! And they get REALLY quick at using it too.
Buy that book its brilliant the art works outstanding and its just a great read even if you know alot of what is in it, iv just started my multi species journey after reading it after being a carp angler for so long.
I live in the north west and i really struggle to catch much on my local canal and i have wanted to catch a pike for ages so that pike matt caught on 1lb line was just an insult😂
I match fished for a few years in the 80's, a couple of decent results (Won a trophy for last match of the season with a Jack Pike boosting the weight) but it was finished for me one afternoon on the Grand Union Canal at Denham - Got an awful draw and sat there having spent £80 on entry fees, bait and the bookie scratching around for tiny Bleak, weighing in a paltry 12oz (The section was won with 1lb 8oz). I asked myself if I preferred doing that or spending a couple of quid on bait and hitting Chub on my local river - No contest. Having said that, I admire the skill of those who do it and those I fished against. Highlight was a CALPAC match on the Grand Union a week before the national championships - All the big boys turned up to get a feel for the venue before the event. I got drawn between England international Dickie Carr and USA captain Micky Thill, I fluked a big skimmer on a poor draw and beat them both (Although I only came third on the section). Apart from winning a London Youth championship qualifier when I captained Hillingdon (Another fluke, caught a Tench that weighed double the next placed team) that has to be my finest hour.

fishing is alot more than dropping string into some water and reeling it in when you feel a bite, and i mean ALOT more complex
