Hi I’m from Canada and lemons look deserve to be in the top. The stem I believe was like a Canadian mounted police uniform with a little bit of a drag twist but the hair I understand thanks for all your stunning vids tho❤️❤️🏳️🌈
Hey Bussy. I think it would be really interesting to hear your take on how the AS2 / UKvTW elimination format has evolved and whether or not you think it's worth continuing. AS2 was amazing, I think we all see how much of a gag it can be. But ever since "The Manilla Incident" I think it's become almost the better strategy to target the frontrunners and send them home. After seeing the extremes this format can lead to like in UKvTW, should it be retired? I honestly think that after this season, Queens in a future season may INTENTIONALLY UNDER-PERFORM so they can ride the middle, rather than excel and score some wins, only to get targeted and eliminated. Do we want these seasons to turn into "let's all ride the middle" rather than showcasing the best of the best like we want?
Can we stop sending queens hate please? It’s not that deep, girl. Really. Let the queens settle things themselves: they don’t need you to participate in the drama. Just sit back, get a pot of tea and a bowl of popcorn and enjoy from a distance.
Sending the Dolls themselves hate is nonsense and bad for everybody. Complaining that one doesnt like the direction the show is going in in public, particularly in places like RUclips which we know production monitors is perfectly legit.
I feel like the non-US contestants were told "wear eleganza representing your country" and the US contestants were just told "eleganza extravaganza". Anyone else with me? It feels like everyone else did something specific and the us contestants just Dressed Pretty -- VERY pretty, mind, but it felt super weird when watching it.
Just a small correction and little bit of history dive :-) Pangina was channeling Elizabeth I, which is end of 16th century. The other references shown were more Marie Antoinette, which was 18th century. So the correct reference to looks would be Rose's Snatch Game character of Mary, Queen of Scots, that was the same era as Pangina's ;-) means I wouldn't say this kind of look was done often during all those years of franchise ;-)
post mortem analysis: please address the horrendous prize of a medley song with rupaul not even a brand new song and blu was added to the song for a good 30 seconds, it seems blu never get to record with rupaul either, that is an insulting prize for an insulting no winning prize season
The prize thing is a BBC thing. The winner of the Great British Bake Off get's an inscribed winner's plate and a cake stand, that's it. If it had been held in the US or Canada or almost anywhere else they could've given a big prize. It's why DR UK never has a monetary prize either for the finale or the episodes.
@@brentbentKRFP that’s the thing though, Ru chose to have the UK host it so she could skimp on the prize and blame the BBC for it giiirrrl she was so shady to do the queens like that when she could easily host it in the the USA where she could give $100000 to the winner but she didn’t wanna do that so yuh
They did this season with a quickness. Wanted to throw the UK a bone because it would look bad for them not to. Plus the prize is a joke. Fly Mo across the street to upstage Rupauls vocals? 😆
really really lackluster season. the problem with "voting out the competition" is that it leaves you with a boring group of queens at the end who you're not exactly rooting for, bur wouldnt be mad if any of them won because.. you're indifferent.
I'm honestly tired of the lypsync smackdown for the crown BS... It's a very tired idea. I wish the Queens could come up with a finale performance of their choice and be judged off of that. If some of the winning queens of the past had to go through a finale like this, they wouldn't have won.
And queens don't lipsync to any old crappy song, they pick specific songs that they can do a gag too or make it humorous in some way. The songs that were picked for the finale were not it.
I mean, what does the "best" queen even look like? It's so subjective and everybody in this cast brings something amazing to drag that it would be impossible to decide.
@@RobertPrestley best queen is the best outfits, funniest, and most entertaining lipsync -always been the same -and of course its subjective silly-its called RUPAULS drag race and isnt it always subjective to his opinion?
@@jakkudemoff3043 So what you mad about? It sounds like you gave yourself your answer. It's RuPaul's show, RuPaul's game, RuPaul's rules. If you don't like it, make your own drag show with rules you prefer.
@@Gltokensp06 true but the original rules were set in place to reveal the best queen under above parameters--these relatively newer all star rules were set to create drama which i know we all enjoy to some degree but ultimately i want to see the best queens in the end
I had this thought too and came looking for this comment, but then before I commented I googled Mounties and they actually have a solid red top for their uniform, so this isn’t really that as you and I had originally thought.
That was my impression to. And honestly can we retire repping Canada with the RCMP costume yet please? I mean at this point hopefully we all know they are a racist genocidal force (70% of Canadians agreed that they have major racism issues, that many Canadians stately agree on racism issues these days)
I thought so too! But then I remembered the Mounties where a solid red uniform. I still think her outfit was amazing though! Lemon and Jimbo really were serving looks. Its unfortunate they were out early😢
Janey did say that she filmed UK vs The World less than 6 months after Holland S1 and without being able to work due to the pandemic. So I'm going to forgive some rickety crickety runways.
And a lot of that time we were in lockdown in the Netherlands. We had such long lockdowns :( but I'm proud of Janey! She really proved herself 👏 and she showed in DRH she has amazing looks 👌
Regardless of her looks, did no one notice her grace and composure? As someone with ADHD (and related incoordination) who has fallen over more than once trying to put pants on, I am amazed at the control she has of her body. Her posture. Her facial expressions. So purposeful without seeming tight or overly controlled. It's like watching a panther move
Can we just take the moment to appreciate that Blu did what Tina Burner and Lemon have been trying to do, without making it a big deal? Blu managed to wear Blue for a majority of her looks and did it so well that you didn't even notice that she was doing it. Love the Queen.
I really love this more expressive and playful style of editing you’ve been doing recently!! The quality of your videos has always been high but recently you seem like you’re having so much fun with it!!
The Netherlands was in full lockdown for 6 months so miss Janey had no income at all.... she actually did really well with what she had... Like clubs opened back up a few months ago in the netherlands
@@MrMykeel Drag Race UK is the second biggest franchise and has a LARGE US following, Holland is the least popular franchise together with Thailand. The UK queens have merch sales and England reopened over summer in 2020, The netherlands did not. Put some things in perspective lol
I love Jimbo and all she has to offer, but from what we’ve seen before if it came down to a lip sync smack down and if those crazy eliminations hadn’t happened, and if Jimbo and Pangina were in the final, the win would’ve most likely been Pangina’s. So, Blu’s strategic move most definitely helped her win that crown. And those twists made this season an entertaining ride.
After watching JuJu speak about how much she drastically changed her life around from alcoholism, it helped me understand her better, I believe we are all being reintroduced to her as she is being her authentic sober self❤️
I don't think it's a coincidence that the two queens who seemed the most tired and unmotivated at times are also both recovering from alcoholism (Juju and Baga). When you're addicted to something, you can use that substance to avoid any negative feelings (sadness, anger, stress). Learning how to cope without it is a process. Plus long-term alcohol abuse is extremely hard on all parts of the body. It can lead to chronic health issues and pain that can leave you feeling exhausted. Reality tv competitions are a tough format for someone in recovery, because it is an intentionally stressful situation crammed into a short shooting schedule. And you're entirely cut off from any outside support. But they survived! And were able to share their stories.
Except Juju has been sober since at least her last All Stars. Maybe longer. It isn't recent. Don't know about Baga. However to me, Baga looked overmedicated the whole time.
Have to say in general i felt really underwhelmed by this finale, no real challenge, a reaaaaaaaally long build up to the smack down. The only thing of interest was the criminally short untucked moment. You could tell that Blu really wanted the win, but I have to say that her choreo, whilst very versatile, often didn’t particularly match the music. Unfortunately I kinda felt like while Mo was matching the mood of the music, her choreo was too basic. So all in all, pleased for Blu, but this could have been a much better season.
i agree, the problem is blu's frantic jazzercize knocked me out of the moment every time the camera cut to her. mo may have gone too simple but at least her performance was inviting and in the moment. it was suspected by some that the bbc may have required a queen from uk franchise to take the crown as a condition of hosting the show. that would make sense why the american girls both gave a really tepid showing compared to their past seasons. it would also explain why baga was acting as tho she didnt need to compete for most of the episodes. maybe she assumed it would be handed to her specifically.
Babe the Elizabethan era fashions Pangina referenced are from a solid 150+ years earlier than the Marie Antoinette / rococo looks the other girls were rocking. Like were there royal ostentations, curls, and corsets in both eras? Sure. But just for example, the collar ruffles referenced in the skirt and neckline are 100% Renaissance era and would've been laughed out of court by the 18th century.
to be fair to janey, the filming of ukvtw and drh1 were very close together. holland finished airing in november 2020 and this filmed in early 2021 iirc. she probably didn't have much time to prepare. regardless she did pretty well and i hope people check out the holland seasons (even if they're very, and I mean very flawed)
Yup, the tutu was more of a wheel farthingale instead of a pannier like the other examples. I don’t know that we’ve ever seen this type of high mannerist renaissance look on the runway before.
It’s just such a bummer that they don’t win any money, or anything. I think that’s why some peoples runways were let’s say, lacking. Why spend $20,000 on looks when you aren’t even able to make any of that money back. Ya know?
That’s because the show is under the network BBC which is a publicly funded program. For that reason the show are not allowed to give money as a prize. If you ever watched the Great British baking show, the winner gets a cake stand.
I agree with that, but if that's the choice they made then they shouldn't play the victim and say that's what I've always thought about myself my whole life like miss juju was saying. 🤗
Historical point from a historian: it's not the same style era. Elizabeth I lived and reigned 200 years before the era that inspired all the other looks listed here. The same style era would have been Rosé's Mary, Queen of Scots.
The fact blu hydrangea were a blue dress that was textured to look like hydrangea petals... girl! It was gorgeous. Didnt care for the shape of the back panel tho
For the next dissection of this series, you should discuss the unaired looks. Lemon’s kitty girl was beautiful and Jimbo’s art look was… a masterpiece! Love your commentary on this season! ♥️
@@iialarcon30 Jimbo mentioned in the post that it was inspired by Schiaparelli, an Italian fashion designer who dealt a lot in surrealism. The look is special because Jimbo gave a shout out to all the people who helped create this look, shining the spotlight on artists in her community.
I refuse to give WOW any revenue my view might give them, I only watch the recaps because I can't stand the riggory. I like a fair competition, which RPDR hasn't given in YEARS.
It’s the only thing I watch and Mera Mangle about it… ever since Pangina left. 💔🥵 I am Canadian and I am not impressed with Jimbos attitude at all, he was being kinda hateful towards Pangina. But everyone needs too stop taking it all so seriously and sending and saying awful things. Pangina is also trade of the season.
I left this finale feeling underwhelmed. As much as I like Blu it felt like they were trying so hard to make it seem like she won the lip-syncs through the editing. Honestly I loved for the Pangina/Jimbo and Pangina/Blu drama it was the most entertaining part of the episode LOL
When watching Mo lipsync I saw how controlled she was, considering there was a lot of pressure and nerves she never looked bad. She wasn’t the most energetic but I don’t think that energy always means better.
I saw command of herself and the stage. I saw a PRO👏FESS👏ION👏AL👏, giving me all I needed, while schooling the young ones that you do not need somersaults and splits when you know how to do it, Mama. Adore her! I want Mo!! 💛💜💗
Yes! Mo clearly won! Blu looked frantic and Mo was powerful and commanded the stage. If they are doing a “lip sync for the crown” they should honour that.
Blu looked so desperate throughout the entire lip sync, like she was really fighting for her life and loosing, meanwhile Mo looked so confident and collected to me, she won in my opinion.
She is a lip focused diva. She wants you to see her articulation of every syllable. Drag used to be less about dancing and more about knowing all the words and embodying the song.
This whole season was just one big ROT. They need to rework the entire thing if they’re going to do another one. Scrap everything and start from scratch. Blu won Drag Race Survivor so good on her. She definitely doesn’t deserve to get hate, nor do any of the queens and I can’t believe we have to keep saying this. If anyone feels inclined to message someone hate, I beg you to step away, maybe get some fresh air, drink a glass of water, maybe get a snack. Do you need a nap? I wish we had got to see Lemon and the rest of Pangina’s looks on the runway because the IG posts have been sickening. And they both absolutely turned it out with their finale looks. So creative and beautiful. I’m curious about Jimbo’s other looks but I don’t think he will post them. I couldn’t care less about lip sync battles so the whole format doesn’t do it for me, but I’m glad e we got to see everyone back and their finale looks (even if some were…interesting 😂)
Imagine blaming DRAG QUEENS for being shady when it's literally when they've been doing since the dawn of time. The early seasons' Untucked were WAY shadier than what Jimbo said... or didn't say ;)
Please talk about that second-hand-budget-couldn't-care-less-about-it MEH-dley winner song! (I hope Blu at least got a badge or something, because that prize was worse than the infamous dress from DR Holland season 1!)
So true! They couldn't even bother to do an original song for the amount of time and effort the contestant put into this show. It's embarassing for the franchise. How cheap can you get.
I'm 100% certain that doing a megamix (very badly, I might add) was done as to not spend as much money making a new song from scratch since the proceeds the song would earn are being donated to charity.
@maron kasukabe all im saying is that they obviously found all the cheapest ways possible to keep their end of the bargain since there was no profit to be made.
@@cuppapablo thank you captain obvious, we're well aware they cut as many corners as possible to fulfill their end of the prize as cheaply as possible. That's what we're complaining about.
I thought it was pretty obvious. Maybe if she added the hat but that might have interfered with the maple leaf. I thought the whole thing was gorgeous!
It doesn't actually look like a Mountie does though. I don't know how a Canadian could aim for Mountie and miss so badly. I'm not convinced it was even supposed to be a Mountie look
@@wendylongbottom5280 It broke my heart hearing her talk about the three different designers that bagged on her at the last second and trying to scramble to get something together. It was painful to hear her talk about knowing that she didn't look great on the runway. I can't imagine how it feels to know that hundreds and thousands of people are watching you and judging you and you already feel like s***.
Yes life is hard, so I don't need a show reminding me that the world is full of cut throat back stabbers and talent & hard work alone is getting you nowhere.
If it were another person playing this card. People would be eating them alive. Insulting someone for your "humor" is not good. I assure you that if Mo was doin this you yourself would not be this accommodating
@@rachymn7883 it’s the projection for me mo ain’t a saint she stared off the the season with juju reading every other queen…. Bussy, you HAVE to include that damn prize Blu won. That song is dirt. It’s a bloody remix that Blu could have recorded via a voice note instead of flying to LA for that. Which makes Jujubee the real winner of the season because she spent about $3.50.
I am just so incredibly impressed and proud of Blu. You can tell how much work she has put into improving her drag over the past few years, and her passion for it just shines through. Seeing how amazingly she has performed on this season just makes me so happy!
Lemon and Pangina were the only ones to make me gasp on the runway. I guess I'm greedy but want that for everyone's finale look!! Would have loved to see those two in the finale--it would have been a TRUE smackdown for the crown if it was them versus Blu and Mo.
Blu even said in their popbuzz winner interview that the moment between Pangina and Jimbo was very tense and that Jimbo could’ve been shady in a more funnier way, Jimbo was rude and that’s that. But y’all will let it slide cause “that’s just Jimbo lol”
Janey said in an interview with Manila and Latrice that not only she was trying to prepare for this season very shortly after her original season in the pandemic with no work, but also when she was preparing, everything except grocery stores were shut down in netherlands and she literally had to go to friends' basements and trade fabrics with them, so I think her end result was still pretty amazing.
I get why people are happy Jimbo gave some great reality TV, but she really seems to be carrying that attitude off tv and in to interview and other stuff that starts to blur the lines of what’s a character and what’s just her. And I’m personally willing to believe it’s all just a character she’s playing, it still comes off as really nasty. You start getting real sore loser vibes from her. I guess it’s just a matter of balancing the character with knowing when you’re crossing lines.
You should know that if she is really mean or something, no other queen will response her in social media, and that is enough to prove that she is playing character. Other things if she is mean like that, why audience didn’t complain in her show?
As someone who was a tween when The Reflex broke, I'm loving everyone's confusion over this song. This song gave me all the life and Blu understood it.
this season was SO underwhelming I feel Jimbo and Pangina deserved to be in the finale and to tell you the truth win as well, no way did Jujubee deserved to be there her fashion was non existent and wasn't even funny and the rest were so meh it was so sad, you just know Blue and Baga were in the finale because they have a show coming up on world of wonder Mo was the only one that was credible to deserve to be there
I was screaming about Baga’s gown not hitting the floor it drove me I sane because otherwise I was so into the look. And Jujubees AS5 finale look was her visual peak I don’t think she can top it 😅
I really liked this season, and I was thrilled to see Pangina shine so brightly, even if she didn't make it til the end! BUT I have to say that for a season with queen of the "world" I found it weird to have more than 1 queen for each country at first... and this lack of representation for less popular seasons from different countries shows in the top 4... I mean it is supposed to represent the world but, even if they are really talented, we have to admit that it's more a representation of the "english-speaking-countries world". They are already well-known to the majority and I would have loved to see more queens not from UK, Canada or US to go further. Anyway congrats to Blu! I'll never forget what she did to Pangina, but congrats for showcasing her talent successfully! (even if the final prize...)
@@nellrose4699 I also think so and it's a shame not to have seen more diversity in the origins of the participants. We were waiting for an international season and in a sense it's not really what we had.
@@muhammadzikri8492 nah I'm so happy Blu won but so many queens UNDERperformed in this. Mo didn't do anything good in challenges till the song challenge, Juju was shockingly dog shit throughout, etc. etc. Just SO MUCH disappointment
"[Pangina] took a classic look from a style era that has been done many times on Drag Race" you say, while showing four photos of what I would describe as Georgian-influenced looks that don't look at all Tudor-influenced to me. The other Tudor-era looks I can remember from Drag Race are a couple from Rosé, including her Mary Queen of Scots, and Bimini with her pink Anne Boleyn-inspired look. Lawrence Chaney's all-purple look with the ruff and Scarlett Harlett's pearly queen look seem at least partly Tudor-inspired, as well. Considering that people today talk about the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, etc. as being different style eras and they're only different decades... well, the Tudor period and the Georgian period were over 100 years apart. Marie Antoinette (who was clearly an influence on at least some of the looks you're saying are from the same style era as Pangina's) wasn't born until over 150 years after the Tudor period ended.
Lemon's look was based on a Mountie and Queen Elizabeth I and Marie Antoinette aren't remotely the same era. 😂Great vid though and glad you covered this season. I for one loved it!
No hate to Blu by any means (the girl worked for the crown, no doubt, and deserved it), but her lipsync was very much "let's give a 3 year old ten pixie sticks and see what happens." That said, Mo (whom I absolutely adore) did seem like someone slipped her a fourth of a Valium. It just felt like a weird lipsync on both sides, and I really don't think there was a clear winner.
Since this season premiered and was filmed during the pandemic, I think it would interesting to talk about how that affected each of the queens financially, emotionally, etc. in your wrap-up video. Jujubee and Janey have talked about it in their interviews but I'm curious to know more of what was going on behind the scenes.
Loved this video and I agree with all your observations... The only thing is when comparing Pangina's look (Elizabeth the I inspired) with all the Marie Antoinettes' insipired ones... They're 200+ years apart from each other, so they're very different refernces But stunning video as always 🙌🏻🔥
i’ve waited AGES for them to use a duran duran song for uk. so when i saw that it was the reflex, i was so excited. but the cut they used cut out the best parts of the song.
I feel like this was the most underwhelimg season yet...I saw someone suggesting that they shouldn't have eliminations in an international season but rather work off a score system and have the best 4 scores compete in a lip sync smackdown - that way all international queens get to showcase their drag and we won't have another Jimbo-Pangina were very clearly winners moment.
Very happy for Blu, she was my fav going into the finale and I think she did really well the entire season. With her we have Northern Irish representation as well which is a little consolation for me who would have really liked to see a non US or UK queen win. Overall disappointed with the season :( Everything was there for a fantastic season but the early elimination of front runners killed the mood (plus a bit of sketchy judging in the beginning, such as Lemon being in the bottom). No shade to the queens though, they were just playing the game and Blu would probably not have won if she hadn't kicked Pangina out. Do wonder if they'll change the voting style for the next season. I also hope they won't cast a seasoned queen such as Juju (and lowkey Mo) again because I think the queens were a bit scared to vote such a well known queen with so many fans off.
I believe that Lemon’s “band uniform” was actually a nod to a Mountie uniform. Especially when you look at her hips, it smacks of jodhpurs. It would explain the buttons as well. Plus, the colour blocking represents our flag ❤️🇨🇦
For your breakdown of the season video. I forgot the exact details but Janey mentioned she was told last moment she couldn't perform her orginal idea for the talent show. She was also not aware if she was allowed to lipsync hence her just dancing on music with no lyrics.
I'm very happy for Blu, her whole speech about feeling she was a 'filler queen', really got to me... but if I'm being honest- I kinda thought Mo won that lip sync... I just felt like she gave a more emotional performance, to Blu more energetic one? Idk. I'm from the UK, and I had the feeling from the beginning that a UK queen would win (since its UK vs the world), so, as pleased as I am for her, I also saw it coming a mile off. Also Pangina's outfit also completely got me too" I audibly gasped when she turned the corner, and her runway walk/voiceover gave me goosebumps. I really hope to see more of her soon!
I'd love to hear your take on making the Allstars seasons more exciting and different than the others. This felt like a budget version of a normal Allstars season and I just felt like it could have been bigger and more over the top and with more challenges we haven't seen before!
Pangina kicked off the unfair eliminations, then fell victim to it. Jimbo & Blu doubled down on bad choices. Mo winning might have helped, but as it stands this whole season was a loss.
I'm still sad that Pangina didn't win, but at least this season led to me discovering her. She definitely should have made it to the final, though, and I firmly believe that her lip syncs would've seen off the competition. I've got tickets to see her when she comes to the UK and I'm really looking forward to finally getting to see more of her. Thanks for your videos; they're really interesting.
I think it would be super cool if you included all the unaired runways that the queens posted when you do the postmortem!! I think it would be fun to think about hypothetical ways the season could have gone with different eliminations that way
janey's look is giving the blue, nice version of katya's pentagram runway. but yeah the flowers should have been flat appliqués and not 3d. cheryl's was fine but the dress could have been green like an english garden so the flowers popped. i like blu's very hydrangea shaped dress and yes panpan stomped over all their looks. mo looked stunning! and i hardly realized lemon wasn't wearing yellow. that maple looked so good on her. love juju's bubble peplum and hem but perhaps a laotian neck/shoulderpiece?
Mo’s fashion has been incredible all season, I love her nude illusion work Wish the queens would stop trying sending hate to other queens. Especially ones that play victim in the narrative like Silky.
Mo smart as hell in that they found/had a source of nylon that matches their skin during Lockdown. I imagine this was a lot harder for white queens who had more competition for the little stock that remains.
I think you should analyze the finale (it was lackluster imo), the length of the series (weirdly short), the lack of monetary compensation and how that lowers the quality of everything, and if the lipstick eliminations really mean "good television" when the most entertaining and talented contestants are sent home early. This felt like a trial run to see how it goes, and the lack of investment showed.
A lot of people outside the uk dobt realise that the bbc cant offer money prizes because we the public pay for the channel. Channel 4 has adverts so they make money off that and can offer monetary prizes. Unfortunately it does take the edge off competing for the queens, plus ru just seems think 'hell, lets give everyone a badge! They dont cost anything!'
I feel somewhat bad about saying this, but these finale lip syncs felt meh, I found it funny when Michelle was giving praise to Juju justifying it “at first you were not here, but when you turned it up, you were here”, and she is referencing literally Juju starting to do better on the very prior episode. I hope with the developments in the season, production re-examines the elimination format at risk of having a boring season.
In your breakdown, I think it's probably worth considering the incentive structures that the season produced. The key incentives that I mean are A. The effects of the lack of financial incentives. Obviously DRUK already doesn't have them, but given the structure of All Stars, it's worth commenting on B. The lipstick elimination format
I had the same reaction to Lemon's look. The look was stunning, but that white fabric wasn't doing her any favors. I was getting granny panty vibes unfortunately. Good video Brossy! Noice!
Girl I love ur work so much but PLEASE don’t tell me that Elizabeth I is the same style era as Marie Antoinette 😭 they’re not even from the same century 😂
I love the Hydrangea look that Blu wears! Gorgeous! That's how you play off your name! But yes of course Pangina wins the runway, I love her so much ❤️ queen of my heart ❤️
My main issue with Cheryl Hole's outfit was that there were no Scottish thistles on her gown. Scottish thistles have a green bulbous & prickly base with a bright purple feather like flower. What was seen on her dress was some blue whispy thing that looks like the thistles that are native to South America.
Does anyone else think the “sending queens hate” discourse is getting fully out of control? I’ll explain. First and foremost, the responsibility isn’t on queens or other celebrities to “get a thicker skin” the responsibility is on the fans to not be disgusting. I’m genuinely not trying to do the obnoxious devils advocate thing. But at the same time, I think people forget that a HUGE demographic of people that watch drag race are young girls. I’m fairly certain a lot of the death threats and hate queens get comes from those teens. So by acknowledging the treatment and legitimizing it we’re letting an army of shitty internet trolls be centered in the conversation. It’s turning into a constant rotating door as each season comes faster and faster of “don’t send these new queens hate” and then “stop sending these queens hate”. Rinse and repeat. Every single queen I follow regardless of their online following posts constantly about getting hate or threats. It’s starting to feel like it’s just a part of the culture now (as if having a problematic fan base wasn’t already part of the culture to begin with, but still) to endlessly talk about the hate. And then the hate never ends because it gets attention from literally everyone. Again, not the queens jobs to respond a certain way. They are entitled to do and feel whatever they need. They deserve our sympathy and respect because most of us don’t know what it’s like to get bombarded like that. But as a fan I am exhausted by this never ending discourse. I REALLY wish RUclipsrs, queens, producers, Ru, whoever would remember that the Streisand effect is very real. I really just wish that more people would start ignoring it (or turn off their dms and set up spam folders) so more people would lose interest in doing it.
Previously to this episode I was only rooting for Mo, but Blu proved me that she really deserved to win I personally think that Jujube and Mo didn't gave their all in the Lypsincs, I mean we've seen what both of them can do in the past, like Jujube on Season 2 and Mo on AS4 vs Latrice But either way I'm happy that Blu won, she really deserved it in the end.
And Just Like That.... We have a winner, baby! Let me know what you want me to include in my future post-mortem video!

I think in your post-season video you should definitely talk about the "grand price" aka the song Blu and Ru released together.

Just a small correction and little bit of history dive :-) Pangina was channeling Elizabeth I, which is end of 16th century. The other references shown were more Marie Antoinette, which was 18th century. So the correct reference to looks would be Rose's Snatch Game character of Mary, Queen of Scots, that was the same era as Pangina's ;-) means I wouldn't say this kind of look was done often during all those years of franchise ;-)
hahah I came here to say the same thing!
Thank you! Niche geek niggle but that did make me go huh? 🤣

They probably had Blu do it when they were recording that garbage frock destroyers album lol

I'm honestly tired of the lypsync smackdown for the crown BS... It's a very tired idea. I wish the Queens could come up with a finale performance of their choice and be judged off of that. If some of the winning queens of the past had to go through a finale like this, they wouldn't have won.

YES! Bring back back what they last did in season 8!
Agreed. The format let the queens and the audience down this series. It felt like a fever dream of a drunk high school art project at times.

I don’t think this is the last of Jimbo in RPDR. She’s a talented queen who loves Drama! She’s good TV, I live!

I agree. Mo looked to me like the best dancer in a club (not on a stage), while Blu gave a performance (although sometimes mismatched with the music).
A MUCH BETTAAAH season 😏
Could have been so much better.
This show was lackluster. I could have skipped it all together🤦🏽♀️
i agree, the problem is blu's frantic jazzercize knocked me out of the moment every time the camera cut to her. mo may have gone too simple but at least her performance was inviting and in the moment. it was suspected by some that the bbc may have required a queen from uk franchise to take the crown as a condition of hosting the show. that would make sense why the american girls both gave a really tepid showing compared to their past seasons. it would also explain why baga was acting as tho she didnt need to compete for most of the episodes. maybe she assumed it would be handed to her specifically.
*cough* Vivaldi *cough*
Totally agreed, it could also be a reason for Janey, to have less budget this season then on her original season

The judging and editing is atrocious, the queens are underused with uninspired challenges.
@@ephraima3328 I still cannot BELIEVE she wasn't DQ'ed. I still get pressed thinking about it lmao
Pangina’s look was TUDOR! The examples you showed were Georgian Bussy.
That was exactly what I thought as well. Queen Elizabeth I is not the same as Marie Antoinette
Yup, the tutu was more of a wheel farthingale instead of a pannier like the other examples. I don’t know that we’ve ever seen this type of high mannerist renaissance look on the runway before.
Thank you! As a lover of historical fashion I was screaming inside.
Right!!! Elizabethan and Rococo are not the same
It’s just such a bummer that they don’t win any money, or anything. I think that’s why some peoples runways were let’s say, lacking. Why spend $20,000 on looks when you aren’t even able to make any of that money back. Ya know?
Because it's international TV show and you're going to be watched by people, who may or may not hire you?
And especially since the song isnt gonna make any money bc its lazy and barely a collab
@@draven2237 and the proceeds are going to charity anyways... so no gain anywhere...

My thoughts exactly, just a shame the untucked was so short!
Blu's first outfit was awful. If throwing yourself around a stage is a good lip sync, no reason to keep tuning in IMO.
Mo won that lip sync
'pangina took a look from a style era that has been done MANY times before' - babe, tudor fashion and rococo fashion are like 200 years apart
What a disappointment this season was with blu :/
And I’m personally willing to believe it’s all just a character she’s playing, it still comes off as really nasty. You start getting real sore loser vibes from her. I guess it’s just a matter of balancing the character with knowing when you’re crossing lines.

I wouldn't compare Pangina's inspiration of Elizabeth I to the many iterations of Marie Antoinette. They're distinctly different eras in costuming.

I’ve been away for a few months, and I come back to see the incredible makeup! Your application is even better! 😍
Since this season premiered and was filmed during the pandemic, I think it would interesting to talk about how that affected each of the queens financially, emotionally, etc. in your wrap-up video. Jujubee and Janey have talked about it in their interviews but I'm curious to know more of what was going on behind the scenes.
In the Netherlands it’s always frizzy hair weather so Janey Jacke’s hair makes perfect sense for that gown.
Always love watching ur videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ production quality is always on point, very entertaining videos for sure
Loved this video and I agree with all your observations... The only thing is when comparing Pangina's look (Elizabeth the I inspired) with all the Marie Antoinettes' insipired ones... They're 200+ years apart from each other, so they're very different refernces
But stunning video as always 🙌🏻🔥
i’ve waited AGES for them to use a duran duran song for uk. so when i saw that it was the reflex, i was so excited. but the cut they used cut out the best parts of the song.
This song is the prize this season deserves…….a race to the middle. Thanks all stars rules.
I believe that Lemon’s “band uniform” was actually a nod to a Mountie uniform. Especially when you look at her hips, it smacks of jodhpurs. It would explain the buttons as well. Plus, the colour blocking represents our flag ❤️🇨🇦
She didn't look at all like a Mountie though. It gave generic military at best. I loved the leaf, but the jumpsuit was a boot from me
For your breakdown of the season video.
Mo winning might have helped, but as it stands this whole season was a loss.
yes 100%
Mo’s fashion has been incredible all season, I love her nude illusion work
Wish the queens would stop trying sending hate to other queens. Especially ones that play victim in the narrative like Silky.
Mo smart as hell in that they found/had a source of nylon that matches their skin during Lockdown. I imagine this was a lot harder for white queens who had more competition for the little stock that remains.
Black queens like Silky are entitled to point out instances of racism and hypocrisy in the fandom.
@@Exiled.New.YorkerDefinitely agree with the first part, not sure about the validity or point of the second part :D
I feel somewhat bad about saying this, but these finale lip syncs felt meh,
I found it funny when Michelle was giving praise to Juju justifying it “at first you were not here, but when you turned it up, you were here”, and she is referencing literally Juju starting to do better on the very prior episode.
I hope with the developments in the season, production re-examines the elimination format at risk of having a boring season.
the way ive been patiently waiting for this video since watching the finale
I wanted Baga’s gown to be pastel to match the head piece - she’s so stunning and I feel like she’d suit pastels
In your breakdown, I think it's probably worth considering the incentive structures that the season produced.
The key incentives that I mean are
A. The effects of the lack of financial incentives. Obviously DRUK already doesn't have them, but given the structure of All Stars, it's worth commenting on
B. The lipstick elimination format
Petition for Bussy to head up a panel of drag queens that help produce future seasons
I think thd body part of Lemon's runway is supposed to be a jockey outfit to represent the mounted police of Canada but IDK.
Why is no one talking about the Song that Blu and Ru released 😂😂😂
Mo totally looked like one of the muses from Hercules ans it was STUNNING
I had the same reaction to Lemon's look. The look was stunning, but that white fabric wasn't doing her any favors. I was getting granny panty vibes unfortunately. Good video Brossy! Noice!
The level of disrespect...
"Unless they're paying your bills, pay them bitches no mind"
The queen's should stick to that.
The internet is the internet, it'll never change.
@@silentsaturn7604 Exactly!! I really hope that mentality makes a comeback
Baga Chipz claiming Elizabeth Taylor as fully British made me LIVID lmao
She was british
@@rodrigoca3288 British-American
Previously to this episode I was only rooting for Mo, but Blu proved me that she really deserved to win
I personally think that Jujube and Mo didn't gave their all in the Lypsincs, I mean we've seen what both of them can do in the past, like Jujube on Season 2 and Mo on AS4 vs Latrice
But either way I'm happy that Blu won, she really deserved it in the end.
