the human tumbleweed was sending me. this episode was such an odd one considering that we did not see the queens do the recording of the tracks? It made it feel like we only saw a 40 minute show but it was a full hour.
Can producers just tell Michelle to chill with the "show us versatility" ONLY targeting non-traditional queens? Where is the same critique for Sam, Kori, Hormona, Crystal, Jewels?.....we can just go ahead and say the entire cast honestly because going from blue to purple eyeshadow isn't showing versatility. A unique queen can change every single thing about their look from week to week but keep 1 signature aspect and Michelle has a meltdown. It's just so off putting hearing this every season. I don't think any queen should have to change their signature makeup no matter what their style. It's their brand.

I'm so glad to see that Lexi really is living her very best life. If she if she did indeed take out a second mortgage on her house to pay for her looks she is sure serving the heck out of them and having an amazing time doing it. I just dropped by to say that quilting does not mean that it’s sewn together from separate pieces. Quilting is the stitching that goes through the layers to hold them all together. They’re confusing patchwork with quilting.

On that runway that episode way back in season 5, Coco wore a Pink Nicki Minaj inspired outfit. Everything leading up to that untucked moment. Coco, Alyssa, and Jade end up together backstage waiting for the remaining queens to come back and we get the whole "backrolls" and "get her, Jade" moment. Iconic! But anyways, the fact that the only "orange" thing they could find to give Lana an orange face was an inflatable kiddie swimming pool flotation arm device had me screaming. I could be wrong, but the reference immediately stuck out to me as Coco montrese being a middle girl between Alyssa Edwards and Jade Jolie who were fighting and clapping back at one another. If you watch it in HD, there’s like one moment where they zoom in on Arriety’s fabric and you can tell that it was actually quilted. I think she used the quilt setting on a sewing machine over a single sheet of printed fabric.

Like I can already envision a hundred clips uploaded of her coming out on stage at some club in that pillow outfit to the high-pitched shrieks of a thousand girlies whose personality is "drag race fan who hates drag race fans". maybe someone will film her doing a whole monologue about how drag race ruined drag. that kind of thing

I am so glad Joella did this look, cause everything else this season feels kinda... recycled? Like the queens are saying the same stuff that has been said on previous seasons, even the challenge based on legendary queens' moments is a recycling station (i liked it tho). Plus they all are so young that they seem to know about drag mostly from drag race itself. Like at least we finally got the gaggy stupid iconic moment, thank you, Joella.
17 seasons of this show. Almost every queen in this cast grew up watching Drag Race. It is inevitable at this point:( And they cannot really cast older queens when they focus so much on high energy performance based challenges and almost every lip sync is meant to be a dance number.

Onyas performance gave David Lynch vibes imo! The intesity to smooth jazz with the red curtain & camp. Shes really growing on me. Girl is confident! Im sad they didnt show the girls writing, creating & singing their songs 😢
I was SHOCKED when Crystal Envy didn't win - the look, to leading her group, to her great performance - BUT when I got to thinking. This wasn't a "group" challenge. Ie - The episodes where we have 2 official group leaders that must pick and choose things for the groups, coordinate things, and usually ultimately take a top or bottom placement for whichever group did best/worst. This wasn't an episode like that. So it's great that they kept harping on how insanely helpful and to the T she was when "leading her group" - that just wasn't the challenge brief so you don't get extra points for that. For the actual performance, Onya cleared everyone + all on her own. Also random: did anyone notice how Raja wore that black basket hat on FPR last week and Lexi gave us the Utica version of that in this week's episode? 👀
Onya is talented & truly has the most elevated stage presence in her runways - confident & smooth. Hope she shows a ‘nicer’ side to her in the coming episodes.

To be fair, she was wearing an outfit that was falling apart. Several times during the lip sync, it looked like Kori was holding her wig, as if it was about to fall off. Even after she exposed the long pony tail, I dont think she wanted to whip her hair too hard or the wig was going to come off. And then holding her chest piece, because the breast plate was going to expose under what little material she had in the front. I wouldn't say underwheling, it just started to get sloppy. But compared to what Joella served during the lips sync, Kori held it together better and at least knew her words . I do not think that Kori was intending to land in the bottom like she did and have to lip sync. But we got what we got. 😂😂
Tbh, I understand if Kori decided to play it extra safe when she saw what Joela was giving. She must’ve realized that safe was enough; she just needed to prevent a wardrobe malfunction 😅
Even the different face look for the dress fits her aesthetic but not in as glaring of a way as the vaudeville style. I think if she varies it she’ll go far. Reminds me of many queens who listen to the judges and sees how it can/might not help them.
She didn't even get a mention for it on the stage! She should of and would've fully deserved to have the win for all she done for her team as well as her look being so darned stunning on the runway xx onya was good so was Suzie but crystal smashed it xx
Is it me or is crystal envy crazy overlooked, she could have been top 3 every week. Talent show she obviously was top 2, in the monopoly challenge she should have been top 3 instead of onya in my opinion and this week she was the most entertaining and had the best runway

Crystal’s garment was giving me the shell from Botticelli’s Venus. So I wish the designer had used a “mother of pearl” fabric for the inner lining rather than red. Oh well. It was glamorous, regardless.
I took it to be a reference to the fact that technically she is a local queen, as she is from LA, as well as nodding to previous "local drag" comments from previous scenes. A little extra drama on the way out.

I personally have learned to ignore Michelle wih the versatility thing. What she mean is: give us basic drag because she has NEVER and she will NEVER say that to someone that has traditional makeup. It's only/always to someone that has a little bit of creativity
Suzie’s makeup still fits the aesthetic she likes but isn’t the vaudeville look. For this dress that was the better option: more romantic 1930s But yes, if it stays this way… I’ll be disappointed.
I truely think that if we didn’t have Jimbo throwing bologna or Jane being praised for burger finger, Kori would not have done this insanity. This show sometimes reward crazy in a weird way.
Yeah I think Joella's runway is going to be remembered in the same vein as La La Ri's bag look and Monet's Sponge look lol. Anytime the show references past seasons, I know I am going to enjoy it. I will say the bottom 2 were bad, but at least they each got a chuckle out of me. Overall these queens did great. Let's see how well they do next week with the SNL thing (I bet they're doing that challenge in honor of SNL turning 50).
Crystal Envy deserved a shout-out by someone on her team. She directed / organized them really well & elevated their overall performance!!! And her runway was breathtaking.
Can we talk about the questionable lip syncs of this season? Joelle not knowing the words, Hormona Lisa not being able to lip sync to her own track that she recorded? It just doesn't seem like these girls were ready.
The USA Drag Race 17 cast isn’t bad, but I’m having a hard time finding anyone memorable. Four episodes in, and for some reason, the only queens who stand out to me are Lexi Love and Hormona Lisa. Everyone else just seems to blur together. As for RuPaul as a host, how do they manage to get even more monotonous with each passing season?
I keep having to double check who is who. I forget everyone's name except onya,Lexi, hormona, and Suzie. Idk what it is but I can't remember the rest of them. It's like they all blend together
If you're not watching untucked, I really recommend It, It's so good. We get to know the queens a lot more and there's so much fun drama. Besides that I think we'll see more from other queens soon, It's still pretty early and usually we barely know most of the cast this early.

I feel that this may be due to how memorable s16 was. I mean I don't agree with s17 being forgettable, as it is still early in the season after all, and I do have some personal standouts, but s16 really was just that girl. Cast, drama, and runway wise they were definitely it so I can see why you said that.
Conspiracy theory: they included the Mariah moment because they knew it was less iconic than the others, and that it would take something genius to make it good, so that they had someone to send home.
Oh no. Arrietty definitely deserved to be in the bottom three, but to be safe. I can't stand any contestants of competition shows - whether is cooking or any kind of arts/crafts - that don't follow the brief. The brief was broad as some of the queens interpreted quilts as separated pieces of different color/print fabric sewn together or quilted on the same piece of fabric. They shouldn't be rewarded for ignoring the brief. Also, I'm with Sister Michelle on both critiques of Arrietty's signature look and especially Susie Toot's. Toot did great with the modifications of the severe Toot look. - Nobody mentions how gorgeous Onya's makeup is. In addition to her other talents, she really beats a mug (as the kid say) with artistry. Maybe because she does it with so much taste and no gimmicks, people don't notice. That olive green eye shadow guuuurrrrl. She even did a white highlight in her eyebrows that was very flattering.
If you look closely, on the inside of Arieti’s outfit on top, you can see it is sort of duvet-ish, but it seems to have no seams on the pattern. It may be, but it doesn’t read quilt. Unfortunately.
I wish she made the stitching the pattern so you could see it was quilted. It was definitely technically quilted but it didn’t read on the runway. If it was slightly more stuffed too it would have been amazing
I think an issue with Kori King’s music video is that the whole “cheep cheep” chicken joke was between her and the other queens. Like yeah you would think it’s funny because you’re apart of the inside joke but the judges have no idea what you’re talking about 😂 or why you’re even including chickens in the challenge 🤣😭 I do think whoever got Kennedy & Mariah’s songs would’ve been at a disadvantage. It wasn’t made as nicely as the other songs in my opinion. The two songs would’ve put any Queen in the bottom
Sam Star’s look was reminiscent of Blackberri from Dracula S5 in the camp look but it was executed amazingly. I wonder if anyone else has done a pillow look like this?
So you can't really see it on the runway, but if you look closely in Untucked Arrietty's look is quilted- there's stitching in a kind of wave pattern, it's actually really cool. I understand the critique that it doesn't read as quilt on the runway, because the stitching is only visible if you look really close, but it is a quilted fabric

I was SHOCKED when Crystal Envy didn't win - the look, to leading her group, to her great performance - BUT when I got to thinking. This wasn't a "group" challenge. Ie - The episodes where we have 2 official group leaders that must pick and choose things for the groups, coordinate things, and usually ultimately take a top or bottom placement for whichever group did best/worst. This wasn't an episode like that. So it's great that they kept harping on how insanely helpful and to the T she was when "leading her group" - that just wasn't the challenge brief so you don't get extra points for that. For the actual performance, Onya cleared everyone + all on her own.
Also random: did anyone notice how Raja wore that black basket hat on FPR last week and Lexi gave us the Utica version of that in this week's episode? 👀

Double Sashay moment missed again this season
To be fair, she was wearing an outfit that was falling apart. Several times during the lip sync, it looked like Kori was holding her wig, as if it was about to fall off. Even after she exposed the long pony tail, I dont think she wanted to whip her hair too hard or the wig was going to come off. And then holding her chest piece, because the breast plate was going to expose under what little material she had in the front. I wouldn't say underwheling, it just started to get sloppy. But compared to what Joella served during the lips sync, Kori held it together better and at least knew her words . I do not think that Kori was intending to land in the bottom like she did and have to lip sync. But we got what we got. 😂😂

I thought Kori did well. Not amazing, but well. I thought she moved smoothly and seemed to know the words. Didn’t seem awkward. 🤷♀️ I liked it.

Anytime the show references past seasons, I know I am going to enjoy it. I will say the bottom 2 were bad, but at least they each got a chuckle out of me. Overall these queens did great. Let's see how well they do next week with the SNL thing (I bet they're doing that challenge in honor of SNL turning 50).

The USA Drag Race 17 cast isn’t bad, but I’m having a hard time finding anyone memorable. Four episodes in, and for some reason, the only queens who stand out to me are Lexi Love and Hormona Lisa. Everyone else just seems to blur together. As for RuPaul as a host, how do they manage to get even more monotonous with each passing season?
I keep having to double check who is who. I forget everyone's name except onya,Lexi, hormona, and Suzie. Idk what it is but I can't remember the rest of them. It's like they all blend together
If you're not watching untucked, I really recommend It, It's so good. We get to know the queens a lot more and there's so much fun drama. Besides that I think we'll see more from other queens soon, It's still pretty early and usually we barely know most of the cast this early.

@@orion6372 I disagree. On episode 4 I usually know at least the name of 5 queens. This season everyone is kinda the same. I’ve been wondering if the queens are actually that basic, or if the show is just making them look that way.
I feel that this may be due to how memorable s16 was. I mean I don't agree with s17 being forgettable, as it is still early in the season after all, and I do have some personal standouts, but s16 really was just that girl. Cast, drama, and runway wise they were definitely it so I can see why you said that.
Michelle needs to change up her own look before she continues talking. She has been various shades of jersey shore since season 3.

Conspiracy theory: they included the Mariah moment because they knew it was less iconic than the others, and that it would take something genius to make it good, so that they had someone to send home.
Crystal ATE the runway. And the challenge. Period.
Oh no. Arrietty definitely deserved to be in the bottom three, but to be safe. I can't stand any contestants of competition shows - whether is cooking or any kind of arts/crafts - that don't follow the brief. The brief was broad as some of the queens interpreted quilts as separated pieces of different color/print fabric sewn together or quilted on the same piece of fabric. They shouldn't be rewarded for ignoring the brief. Also, I'm with Sister Michelle on both critiques of Arrietty's signature look and especially Susie Toot's. Toot did great with the modifications of the severe Toot look. - Nobody mentions how gorgeous Onya's makeup is. In addition to her other talents, she really beats a mug (as the kid say) with artistry. Maybe because she does it with so much taste and no gimmicks, people don't notice. That olive green eye shadow guuuurrrrl. She even did a white highlight in her eyebrows that was very flattering.
I need Kori to reel it in like I'm rooting for her i need her to get her head in the game she totally has the potential to make the finale

If you look closely, on the inside of Arieti’s outfit on top, you can see it is sort of duvet-ish, but it seems to have no seams on the pattern. It may be, but it doesn’t read quilt. Unfortunately.
I wish she made the stitching the pattern so you could see it was quilted. It was definitely technically quilted but it didn’t read on the runway. If it was slightly more stuffed too it would have been amazing

I think an issue with Kori King’s music video is that the whole “cheep cheep” chicken joke was between her and the other queens. Like yeah you would think it’s funny because you’re apart of the inside joke but the judges have no idea what you’re talking about 😂 or why you’re even including chickens in the challenge 🤣😭
I do think whoever got Kennedy & Mariah’s songs would’ve been at a disadvantage. It wasn’t made as nicely as the other songs in my opinion. The two songs would’ve put any Queen in the bottom

So you can't really see it on the runway, but if you look closely in Untucked Arrietty's look is quilted- there's stitching in a kind of wave pattern, it's actually really cool. I understand the critique that it doesn't read as quilt on the runway, because the stitching is only visible if you look really close, but it is a quilted fabric

I don't understand how the judges say they want the Queens to have a point of view and a solid brand, but those who do are criticized for not "switching it up". If they don't like their POV or brand, fine. But why try to force them to step away from that?
