After the events of 9/11 I wanted to visit my sister in Boston whose close friend was killed in the twin towers. I called Amtrak to become familiar with what I expected to be new security measures……the response I got was…..laughter. Laughter! There is no standard of excellence in our country anymore. Or at least it’s hard to find. My first job was at a plating factory for airplane parts. I was promoted to inspector of components that were dipped in chemicals to prevent metal fatigue. I took my job seriously. When I reported insufficient “plating” on parts I was told to sign my name indicating they were fit to be used in the manufacture of airplanes. I wouldn’t do that…….I lost my job.
