@Rob Dahm You can probably learn a LOT about alternators and electrical from the EXTREME Car Audio community there's a good possibility that you could benefit from a larger diameter alt pulley or just better wiring and grounds on your charging system...? Like, maybe a 0ga "big-3" or something? And a simple heatshield between the motor and alt could be VERY helpful too..?
Big 3 & a nice lithium battery would be great for his setup, his alt wont have to do as much work & voltage would stay steady over 13V. Man spent 300k on the car, pretty sure he'd be fine paying 1k for a battery & thick wiring that wont let him down.
Extreme car audio is what those cars have who can flex chasis with their sub sound. Definitely I good way to lear more bout pulleys and energy in general as they demand enormous amount of power to work properly and not burn amplifiers or coils. Keep in mind some of those demo vans drop from 5k rpm to 800-600 or even engine stalls when they hit low hz tones, bcs of the energy they consume
@@Ayane13b Audio guys with big speakers go boom boom, so boom boom they can melt a power station. He is suggesting to use wires thicc as a dik and some alternator optimizations including some safety additions to avoid the bad burn burn. This car goes boom boom in a different way, but the power requirements are similar.
Iirc Rob's already using a pretty chunky alternator for this build?... I wanna say maybe a 300amp? And possibly made by Mechman or one of those types of companies, so the power should be there but one of the ways those companies build that much power from their alts is by using a smaller pulley, which is great at idle, but not so good for high rpms. I had a similar issue with a Singer alt on a turboed F22 engine that was having major issues at high rpms and we couldn't figure out what was happening but the minute I switched back to the stock alt the problems cleared up. Turns out it was the diameter of the pulley causing the alt to over-rev and create a considerable amount of EMI!?
