All or most of the Beta soundtrack songs are from elsewhere. Dependant on release date I guess it's possible they were genuinely used as stand-ins during development but yeah they're probably just stuck in by whoever originally uploaded the beta files to the web.

Pretty sure this was the intention, actually the train ride was much longer. It would start with the train moving through the wasteland, before passing through a ruined section of City 17, where Xen creatures could be seen killing themselves on the walls, trying to get in. A gargantua would be seen attacking a razor train before being torn apart by the vehicle, and then the train would arrive, and cremators would clean the outside of Xen wildlife that might have gotten in, the doors would then open.

Also considering that the Combine was removing the water in the ocean for precious materials and replacing the oxygen with toxic gases instead of what they do now, yeah. One more thing, the metrocops actually acted like real police officers (they didn't push people around, they acted cool), and in one part in the Beta a Combine Soldier dropped down from above, aimed at Alyx and Gordon, and told them to "Hold it right there", without shooting them.
5 years late i know ... But The "combine soldiers" in The beta were just humans with improved armor and military grade guns... They weren't The brainwashed soldiers that we fought in The hl2 retail

It's actually pretty impressive that the HEV suit is made for hazardous materials/environments, but can stand up to bullets and military-grade explosives.
+SgtDumpling Considering what happened during the experiment, it's probably a good thing that it can. Even just within the context of the Scientific experiments, that thing has to be Tonka tough to withstand those kinds of dangers.

Combines started attacking to train with a big ship that has same speed as the train... they started sending soldiers to train Gordon stopped all of them but... oh no! combines are blocked the railway! gordon is taked a car in the train that so fast. He drived to where railway block is. He has only 10 minutes. He has to blown up the railway block in 10 minutes! Gordon blown up the railway block and see the train while passing near him... after this, Gordon see the combines and get to his car and drive to the train 3-4 (its like 4 days ingame) loading screens later they arrived to the city 17 and they see the Citadel and the fire... everyone is dead in the trainstation, but someone hear them and call the other people to come. Now Resistance has more ammunation and other stuff. After like 3 chapters gordon arrived to Citadel.
some people might doubt the validity of a new half life, but all you have to do is play half life 2 episode 2 and you'll know that the team isn't ready to give up on such an important project. I'm not just talking about the amazing game play, I'm talking about the director commentary. play through hl2 ep2 again w/ the director commentary on and they make several clear implications of the next game release. also, Alex with a socket wrench ftw.

@MrCodename4711 You could still do it on the Source Engine. You would just need to tweak it a bit, if you do want to do it. Then try and replace the textures with something a bit more high res, and try doing it on the Left 4 Dead 2 SDK (looks much better)
