VNN has speculated recently, based on the tidbits of info he's gotten over the years, that Half-Life 3 began development shortly after Portal 2's release. So, in mid to late April 2011. But in 2013 it's development fizzled out for some reason and the project was put on hold.
The game was soon picked back up again in the same year it burnt out but collapsed once again sometime in 2015.
The game was on hold ever since to my knowledge. I could have some details wrong, so here's the full video: ruclips.net/video/h1viSEMnk0g/видео.html
VNN is just speculating with no actual proof to back it up, it's more likely that Half-Life 3's development never began or was stopped early.

What people don't seem to understand is, that the event we call the Seven Hour War was probably the farthest thing from anything Humanity would call a war. There probably weren't even battles, just slaughters where Humanity's best might not have even killed a single Combine soldier. No human fortification lasted more than a few minutes and most of the time was spent traveling to the next target and hunting down any survivors.

Also, you’re not just fighting the Overwatch in HL2, you’re also fighting to free Earth from the Universal Union, even if that means going through the Overwatch and Breen’s forces.

Love how people assume that Gordon can defeat the entire Universal Union, no he cannot. The forces he defeates in HL2-HL2E2 were a shitty garrison force used to keep oversight on humanity, the reason they destroyed the portal in episode 2 was to stop the main combine forces to arrive, because they know not even Gordon stands a chance against them.

People forget that the relay to the over world wasn't opened since Gordon woke up until the ending of hl2, and then it wasn't able to be opened since it was shut down.

Which Valve did a pretty damn good job of future-proofing by releasing a large portion of the game’s code to sdk users.

Half life 2 has the worst owner soundtracks from all half life's game. The best sountracks used in the game are from hl1, the only 3 soundtracks that i remenber are Radio, Triage at dawn and aprehension and evasion.

i think half life 2 is a testament to the ruggedness and persistence of humanity. fighting a nearly endless empire that can teleport as much heavy equipment and beasts of war in as they want and yet humanity persists. wonderful.

Half life and the Portal universe are in the same universe so it makes sense

Michael Biland.It can't work outside their laboratories + Laidlaw already told us why they nuked Mesa - to destroy laboratories concept design, so, from the begging it was clear that there can't be a portal gun.
Portal has a different style of music, so nagh.
Kelly Bailey (and Mike Morasky too I think, but mostly Kelly) did the soundtrack for Portal which had an ambient, moody, sci-fi tone. Portal 2's soundtrack was different. It was composed only by Mike Morasky and was very robotic instead with some added orchestra.

this is what i love about this and Sector Sweep, and Smthng secret steers us. ITs exactly what I imagine them listening to
Great end to a great mod. Entropy Zero was a masterpiece. The fact you play on the side of the Combine was and is an amazing idea! It was refreshing seeing a mod shaking up the feel of mods. Not getting all weapons and having the others renamed and redone with recoil and new sounds was a welcome addition.
It was a challenge, that's for sure. Even on easy mode it's still just as hard as hard mode HL2. There were fps drops but with a bad PC you can really play so much.
Overall I would say Entropy Zero will stand as the closest to HL3 we'll ever get.
Edit: yeah, EZ2 is the closest we'll ever get to HL3/EP3.

Imagine You, Yes, You, as a Combine Overwatch unit you are seriously injured after an explosion happened at the core of the citadel, while you also try to stop up and blow the citadel with your injured man, of about 10 or more Overwatch units with Assasins.
You run into a corridor as you also see a guy with some kind of blue gun running away towards the core.
You then quickly think and say to your squad mates: It's The Freeman.
As you run towards him he jumps very quickly and pulls your friend's arm breaking his arm, and also using his Corpse as a gun.
He then shoots the corpse at high speeds towards you and your squad mates. You then get kicked very quickly towards the wall because of the corpse that fell like a whale on you.
The guy then kills more of your squad mates with some kind of combine electricity being released from the gun.
You quickly go unconcious as gordon freeman backhops and long jumps to the control rooms of the citadel core. And more combine units die. You then later on wake up with the core unstable and you run back towards the city. But then as soon as you exit the City you see a huge light over the top of the citadel, as everything explodes like a nuclear bomb.
Luckily you survive however, and walks over a forest just to be killed by the Resistance.
I'd wish I just went for a crummy office job instead in my dying breaths.

Chris Its always like that for me, there was a time when I left the game because I got blinded by new graphics in other games until I found that a majority of games from 2008-2013 like DMC 2013 and Mirrors Edge also use lightmaps instead of dynamic shadows for outdoor environments and now I am back playing Half Life 2 24/7
