If the USA had started contact tracing at the very beginning like many other countries, maybe the infection could have been contained to clusters instead of being widespread. A lot of people will point to this to say that we’ve overreacted in response to the pandemic, but the truth is the most concerning part it how infectious the virus is. Even assuming a 1% death rate that’s still several times more deadly than the flu, and we have a vaccine for the flu. If we never put any quarantine or safety measures in place and continued life as usual, and let’s say 1/4 of the country caught it (which is absolutely feasible) we’d be looking at 820,000 deaths.
In my state we’re actually adding MORE cases per day than we were two months ago and we have some of the strictest quarantine measures in the country.

May 11th I lost my 99 year old WWII Marine Corps veteran grandfather, I called him Poppy. He was a milkman at his fathers company in his early days before being a Scouts Observer later on in the Marines. He needed up being wounded and became the recipient of a Purple Heart. My poppy got shot through and through both knees and was still up and talking and walking just 2 weeks before he passed. Don’t even get me started on the strength of his bear hugs. He would have been 100 years old July 24. He and other residents in his assisted living unit tested positive for Covid-19. He never showed a single sign other than no appetite, he actually tested negative before he passed but his body at that point was too weak to recover. I will miss my poppy for the rest of my life but I’m so blessed and grateful for the time I had with him and the wisdom he taught all of his children & grandchildren. Rest in Eternal Peace with Mommom now Poppy, I’ll see you again one day. I love you so much RIP ARMIT E HARRISON 7/24/1920-5/11/2020

The power and impact of sharing individual stories is incredible. Seeing the number of deaths is jarring, but to hear Mr. Vega's story, a great man who moved to a new country, started working young and moved up the totem pole to eventually own his own business, is heartbreaking. A wonderful life only halfway lived cut short by this awful disease. May Mr. Vega rest in peace, and his family find solace in the fact they had the privilege of being loved by him for as long as they were.

This shows why testing is so important, but most countries still haven't done enough. Covid-19 has also become a political issue in many countries, making the numbers even less reliable, and the US is no exception.

Family friend works in a hospital in Queens. She said for every 30 deaths, only 13 are put on record. Why? Because the hospital doesn't want to be in trouble for negligence. The bodies piled up so much that they were stepping on the dead bodies. That explains why large refrigerator trucks keep coming by. This absolutely breaks my heart to find out after lockdown, because when it was lockdown, I felt so depressed and sad hearing the ambulance sirens every 15 - 30 minutes. I live near Elmhurst Hospital, and the sirens just keep on going on all day all night. 💔

@Raz Patnaik Virus reacts to host's body differently. So, symptoms of the disease differs from person to person. Corona Virus is no different. In USA the symptoms are different and in India its different. It is predominantly asymptomatic in India and was symptomatic in Italy and Spain.
The reason Why it spreading in India faster (as you said like 1000s and 1000s) is our habits. Spitting pan in public places could be a reason. Coughing and sneezing, even speaking loudly (culture) can spread this as this is a first ever air-borne disease.
