If your control arm isn't bent or rotting away from rust, it's good. Its literally just a piece of metal.

I find it better to find an old man to turn the wheel. I am a woman doing my own car repairs. Just something I've always done. An old man generally has nothing better to do. 😅 (My daughter wrecked the backend of my sweet baby Monte Carlo, I looked under and saw nothing but bars. I can do this. So I did. The only scary part was lowering the sway bar and getting it back. But, did it. Add a pre assembled shock and spring and done--Im totally bragging😊😅😂🎉)

you can also check by watching the tire when you shift from park to drive or park to reverse if the wheel shows movement when you go from park to drive bushing are bad Their will also be a sporadic clunk in the front end when driving if you have both the bushings are bad
My drivers from end squeaks when it goes over and bumps at at.like a rubber kinda squeak. Also I drive a 5 speed and when i shift it always pulls forwards the left after I complete my shift .what do you think?

Would've helped if you showed a defective one. Then again every bushing fails in it's own different way and may not look similar. Good video nonetheless 👍

On the drivers side, if youre alone you can unroll the window and "jerk the wheel" while touching the rim.
Makes it a bit easier to hear AND feel clunks.

i did this and noticed that my new LCAs are making a creaking noise, i dont hear it when driving mainly when braking and turn left and right while stopped. i believe its only the right lca making the noise
Do you need to replace the smaller bushing (the rotating one) arms too? Or just the big bushing one?
I do have, an almost clunking/clicking sound on close to full steering on lock and my car pulls to the left slightly.
I had my wheels aligned etc. and the guy doing this said I need to replace the wishbones and (of course) the bushing due to being badly worn.
Could this be what is causing the pulling to one side?

Right i just checked all of this like video, BUT i still get like a small squeak when going over bumps (noise from left side control arm) i just added WD40 Silicon to the bushings is that a good idea, well the squeaks over bumps have gone now
Mine did the same .bushing was dried out .just buy new control arms and you're good .word of advise ,when you put new ones on and torque the bolts ,you HAVE to do it under load .which means with the car in the ground or even have the knuckle jacked up with a jack .that goes with upper control arms as well

So i just got my car looked at for this problem. My car is crunching when i apply my breaks, Toyota said its my lower left control arm. Getting it fixed this weekend.

Do you recommend doing both left and right bushing at the same time when one side goes bad?
Usually when one goes bad,the others are not far off,so I'd suggest doing them all at the same time✌

@@billetitosverdes7892 In my situation I found two control arms complete with all bushings and ball joints for less than just the bushings on their own. So I'm going to swap those in, and save the old ones because I have some ideas on how to make cheap bushings.

What about the other side behind the rotor? This method doesn't factor this in. So this is only a partial detection method.

I changed my rims & tires plus the front roters & break pads and still I feel the wheel shake if I'm breaking between 45mph & 65mph... WTF. could this Lower control arm bushing be the problem? someone lmk if im on the right track... thanks
check the sway bar end links, usually thats the problem. cost about 30 bucks a set and 1 hour of labour, they are usually the culprit when it comes to shaking.

Bro, the example of it being "normal" is showing wayy too much play... no legit alignment shop would ever even try to align the car in that state...they should always check steering rack bushing, ball joints, inner tierods and control arms for play... that example would raise a red flag.. Thtas going to cause your toein to vary a Large degree, everytime you accelerate and bake... ignore it if you wish, just my 2 cents.

Well why make more simple by not doing the wheel jerking in the beginning. Skip that and look under the vechile while someone jerk the steering wheel the 2nd step? Are both steps needed it's the same step just the 2nd is more observation and hands on. It's not complex but no extra work if not neccessary. Thanks for the video I will check mine ASAP.

So instead of going through all that could you not just drive it and hear it I mean it doesn’t sound like a CV joint or anything like that it sounds like a low-key kinda clicking under light breaking and slowing down when the balance in the car is on the front for a short period of time while through all that trouble to do it when you could just drive around the block and you would know in about a half a second
