i've always enjoyed this movie personally but i get why people hate it
This is one of the best monsters of all time Godzilla 1998 is different but now we have more divers Godzillas with unique spins and this was ahead of its time
This is actually the first godzilla movie I ever saw as a kid. It's definitely a guilty pleasure movie of mine.
This was also my first introduction to Godzilla. it's fun but not good Godzilla movie.
That's like saying Starship Troopers the movie is not good because the director didn't like/understand the books politics.
They're just different.
As a classic Godzilla fan, i was disappointed. But i cant deny that the movie is pretty decent in its own right. Had it not been released under the Godzilla name it could have been a bigger hit than it was. That said for what it is, its a pretty good movie that i could recommend. Just dont expect the same as Godzilla classics in the slightest from this.
If you want a good modern take on classic Godzilla, look up "Shin Godzilla" and have fun.
if it was just a cheesy monster blockbuster movie then its at best harmless and average. it really is just the name of the movie and monsters that is the issue. i still enjoy coming back to watch it every now and then.
To me, GODZILLA 1998 is little more than Ferris Bueller Meets Godzilla.
I grew up with Godzilla so I did not like this the moment I saw the Godzilla design, the plot made me dislike it more. However, I loved the animated godzilla series that used this design

1998 gave us alot of good movies,this one was enjoyable to watch and honestly whenever it comes on I watch,sure it didnt give that real GODZILLA feel but,it had a balance of action throughout
Still my favorite Godzilla. I remember KFC used to have Godzilla toys when this came out. I got the helicopter.
I might have to watch it again. Liked it in the past.
It may have been a bad Godzilla movie but a good monster movie. It definitly redeemed itself for being the prequel to the best Godzilla animated series ever!
I honestly have always liked (even loved) this movie and maybe some yes to nastalgia, but i still think his design is amazing. What i dont like about this movie is how there end up being 2 Godzilla. Like if they reproduce asexually why does there have to be 2 adults?? Like Godzilla no matter how you put it should be a stand alone entity.
what do you mean by two adults? if your talking about the ending that's the same Godzilla.
