    Frigidaire makes the best window air conditioner overall. See it on Amazon: geni.us/WindowFrig8k
    We researched 2018's best new air conditioners and tested the top three brands, and Frigidaire had the best cooling performance. It was also easiest to install.
    Our picks for the best window AC in 8,000 BTU size for 300+ square feet:
    1. The best overall: Frigidaire - FFRE0833u1 geni.us/WindowFrig8k
    2. The quietest air conditioner: Friedrich - Chill CP08G10B geni.us/WindowFriedrich8k
    When purchasing a window air conditioner, the most important features to consider are:
    • Do you have a vertical sliding window?
    • Room size - follow mfr. recommendations to avoid the dank.
    After testing, we found that the Frigidaire is the best Window AC.
    Check out the features here: geni.us/WindowFrig8k

    The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

    Thanks for taking the time to do these reviews. Ordered the 6K Friedrich mostly after this video. Also i want to give my thanks where in the written review you pointed out how sound measurements work with sound doubling in loudness every 10dB. It's the small details like that that point to some of the readers to know that you more or less are paying attention to what you are writing and measuring.

    Moved into a 3 storey townhouse with ducted air con and heating the circuit breaker computer piece broken . I am having to toss the system and get a Panasonic heat cool aircondioning x2 the original company went under. No spare parts, and it fuses our power source. Power company charged us 200 for the power surge. All because of the faulty boards on the unit. Building is only 5 years old. I appreciate the info on the air cons .purchased a portable cooler with a hose to get by. Thank you for the great info.

    Those square feet charts can be deceptive since rooms are three dimensional. I have vaulted ceilings in my bedroom, and a 5,000 BTU wouldn't really cut it. Even with a 6,000 BTU air conditioner, the air was really dry. I currently use a 8,000 BTU air conditioner, and it seems about right. I do use a small humidifier on a humidistat to add some humidity back to the air, but if the fan ran constantly, I doubt that would be an issue. I prefer a cycling fan to save on electricity and overall life of the air conditioner motor.

    Even though it's not recommended for a bigger BTU than what's really called for my question is what about a kitchen living room area for 18 BTU but instead can a teen get a 24 because I have more than for Windows and I live in Texas so it's always hot

    • @YourBestDigs

      Lea Pot yes it does but it depends how big is your room. If you install it in a not to big of a room it can be a bit loud even on low fan. So the 8000btu is great for a big room. If your room is small you should get the same one but the 6000btu. Overall their both great a/c. This is the second summer they are being used.

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад +1

      At that price point, the gamble you're taking is on quality control: all the parts probably come from the same OEM. One or the other might be slightly quieter depending on how they designed the insulation and so forth, but availability is all over the place so it's hard for us to test them. We stuck with the biggest names so we could at least give you something to compare against that should be available where you're shopping.

      Danby doesn't make much of their own stuff; we tried to test the best-available products from manufacturers with a closer connection to the components. (Though even Friedrich uses parts from other manufacturers.) Danby isn't likely to be worse than any other inexpensive generic "window shaker" AC, but we didn't find anything that stood out as a reason to test their window units.

    I've looked everywhere for reviews on Soleusair window AC units and couldn't find any. My 24,700 btu worked good for the first year,2nd year barely did the job and this year,it doesn't cool at all! I've kept it clean and this is what I got. Warranty ran out 3 weeks ago! This the 2nd product I've bought with this brand name and it's the last! Always had great service from Frigidaire products,but I'd have to travel 60 miles to get one,but I'm sure it's worth the drive! Soleusair,in my opinion is junk,don't waste your money!

  • @YourLocalFireAlarmTech
    @YourLocalFireAlarmTech 5 лет назад +1

    Frigidaire, Whirlpool, and Haier are my go to's for AC. At least for the modern ones. What made me not like the Friedrich's is the fact they use LG compressors, and I've had nothing but bad luck with LG. Y'all should compare a dual hosed portable AC to a window unit to see if there's difference in efficiency, I'm curious because Dual hosed portable units are supposed to be MUCH more efficient than single hosed units. Single hosed units work but not as fast or well, noise isn't an issue with me. They create a negative pressure (basically a vacuum) in the house, pull the cold air coming out and blow it back out to cool off the condenser. At the same time, that negative pressure pulls hot air from cracks and crevices in the attic and outside, making the rest of the house hotter overall... thats why you see these new BTU ratings on them. 12K BTU machine is equal to 7.5K BTU window unit. If you buy portable buy DUAL HOSED! Make them popular because they're much better!

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад

      Check out the chart here: www.yourbestdigs.com/reviews/the-best-portable-air-conditioner/#dual
      That's a set of 12k portables vs. an 8k window unit. Even dual-hose portable designs are seriously down-rated under real-world tests. It would be great if dual-hose options were more popular, but portables are clunky enough as it is and it seems like manufacturers are averse to the extra hose for that reason.

    R22 or R410a? R410a destroy the ozone layer.

    • @AFluffyMobius
      @AFluffyMobius 4 года назад +1

      Most of the models here probably use R32. Check each model's website though. For example, the 8,000-BTU Friedrich Chill CP08 in this video review uses R32 but the 6,000-BTU Friedrich Chill CP06 uses R410A.

    • @stevee7774
      @stevee7774 3 года назад

      R22 is an HCFC. It is an ozone depleting refrigerant.
      R410a is an HFC blend. It does not harm the ozone layer. It does however have a high Global Warming Potential (GWP). Many manufacturers are switching to R32 which has a much lower GWP than R410a.

    The reason the Frigidaire is a lightweight is because they are very cheaply built there what we call disposable air conditioners. The Friedrich is a much better built air conditioner that’s why it’s heavier and quieter. LG units tend to have a high frequency of repair record their fan motors are not the most reliable.
