I love seeing 611 with this Whistle compared to what she was given after being restored in 2015. This whistle really brings back her days in 1992 before retirement
Waaaaaay back in 1985, N&W ran a few excursions in the midwest, i took my wife and kids on the eastbound portion between Jacksonville and Springfield Illinois. It was my kids first ever train ride, and behind 611 to boot! As Bob Hope used to say, "Thanks for the Memories!"
Definetly nice to hear 611 working hard again at a good speed. Interesting how the meet with the cardinal they had amtrak hold the siding and not the excursion.
It was awesome to see! As I never had been able to see it run on the mainline before. Also found it interesting Amtrak was the one to wait; my guess is because it wasn’t Amtrak’s tracks, and Buckingham Branch had authority to hold them
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and pass, i like it 5 stars, keep up the great work, my friend, you earned a new subscribed, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
About how long is there between the morning run arriving back in goshen and the afternoon run leaving goshen? I'm also assuming this was filmed in one run
About an hour and a half to two hours before they depart, and then it takes about a half hour for them to back out of the station onto the mainline in Goshen
I like the shot of all the people running to their cars at 16:00 then pretending to be "courteous" and duck even though they've already ruined your shot. ;)
did you chase the train on october 7? If so I was a passenger on the 2:30pm train!! it was my first ever mainline steam excursion of my lifetime!! and i have to say that i will never look at an amtrak train the same way again lol

Random question but what day did you record this? I rode the 611 recently so this might have been when I was on it! EDIT: Just checked the description and HOLY CRAP THIS WAS ON THE DAY I RODE IT!!!
@@PANortheasternRailfanit was phenomenal! Honestly the coolest thing I've done all year. The best part was that I got to bring my model N&W J-Class with me and show it to the engineer (he loved it)

They have already helped restore steam locomotives like ATSF 3751, US Sugar 148, Southern 4501 & 630 and right now they are restoring Pennsylvania 1361, Pere Marquette 1225, and an Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 Pacific.

I realized that after I had filmed my intro I Goshen unfortunately. That’s why I made sure to say it right when describing the excursion as you would see later in the video

Colin. You are the next Gen railfan. Great composition. Hewlett Rd. The pacing,,,keep it going.,
Thanks, will do!
Glad you got to see 611. Once I get a car, I plan on seeing her in the future.
It’s definitely something to experience; hope you get to one day soon!
@@PANortheasternRailfan after all, my channels goal is to provide railfaning videos just like yours, with my own spin on it of course

Awesome catches man, I was happy to see the 611 run on the mainline again. It was also nice to meet you👍
Thanks! Nice to meet you as well!
Great video! If it weren't for the charger on the Cardinal, I'd say this is the 1990's!
Awesome video!! We were there Saturday and Sunday! When was the Amtrak catch? That must've been awesome to see!
Thank you! The Amtrack catch was during the 2:30pm trip on Sunday; 611 met the cardinal at the west end of north mountain siding

Definitely take Rt. 39 through Goshen Pass when visiting Goshen. Well worth it.
Fantastic video

Yeah I appreciated their effort at least. Then again, it’s kinda what you expect from a pacing shot, captured some of the atmosphere of the chase

Is that her original whistle??? Okay, we need a fire up 1218 movement.
I don’t know that it is her exact original whistle but I was told it’s a J Whistle so, a sister whistle. Would be awesome to see 1218!

hi me! (I was on the train)
It sounds like she got her old whistle back.
It has the whistle that she used back in the 1990’s
I don’t think it’s the official whistle know as the “Claytor” whistle, but I do think it is one from one of the other J-class engines
