    Beautiful footage! Interesting fact: I'm pretty sure that C&O 614 under Ross Rowland's leadership ran this route or a stretch very close to it in the 1980s. If so, easy to see why a number of heritage groups would want to run excursions on it. The scenery is glorious.

    Words fall short of the impact of this absolutely wonderful video. As a child in the 50s, my mother and I rode behind this J Class several times from Suffolk Va to Bedford Va,
    It's Boiler plate of May 1950 is the year and month that I was born.
    I rode it in the latter 1980s, on Saturday for the excursion between Norfolk and Lynchburg.
    The next day was the employee excursion, and I was waiting at the Suffolk Va station with other rail fans, they with scanners, I was the only one there with a VHS camcorder. I have all the scanner audio, unfortunately when the consist derailed in the Dismal Swamp, that I recorded standing next to the one's with the scanners. I have the only video when the remaining consist was pulled by the 611, and, no I did not take gratuitous video of the injured, did get the rescue vehicles arriving at the Suffolk Station, but respectfully have the best video of the true engineer bringing it in, for transfer. In all it's beauty and glory. Sad day for many, most certainly, but a one of a kind video.
    Absolutely wonderful video the previous day, walking as quiet as a mouse in the sound car as many elder rail fans were recording audio, which was a very unique video to capture.
    No match to the beauty of this excellent quality, framing, pans and staying in place while it continued to move, and the audio gave me goose bumps.
    Reminded me of the audio recording O Winston Link did on Christmas Eve, while the bells tolled Silent Night coming in, and departing.
    You are very perceptive and gifted with what you did with this video. We took our grandson to Staunton for the Santa Train last December, and the black and white effect was powerful.
    Reminded me of Lynchburg to an extent, around 70 years ago... thank you!!!!

      @@fuscoproductions I really appreciate you taking the time to follow up with your kind reply. Keep on doing what you are doing, you have an eye and a perspective that brings maximum impact to all of the senses, and really moved me to share that with you.
      I take heed and notice people who not only appreciate this once in a lifetime work of art, during an era many have not had the pleasure to experience, but know how best to express it. You succeeded in touching the deepest and fondest neurons from 70 years ago, job well done. I subscribed, and will be checking out more from your channel. Bravo and Thank You once again....
      Side note, when my twin boys were around 7, I took 2 Radio Flyer wagons and built J Class bodies and put them on the wagons. For Halloween, I had recorded steam locomotive sounds on Tape Players, placed in each locomotive, and coupled them up together, pulling around our neighborhood.
      Black, Tuscan Red down the side, trimmed in Gold, and bent 1/2" conduit for the rails down the sides. You only live once!!

      @fuscoproductions  Месяц назад +1

      @@hsavage3350 That's quite the story with those wagons - I'm sure they turned some heads! I'd love to hear those recordings!
      I once again appreciate your commentary. I love being able to share these videos with others and hearing people like yourself are enjoying them. It is hard to put into words why I like trains, especially steam locomotives, but the videos that I make are an attempt to express that excitement. Nothing replaces being there, but I sure do enjoy trying to recapture the magic in my own way.
      While I may not post that frequently, I do have more videos coming soon. Stay tuned! :-)
