    I have the LG V60 Dual Screen, and I feel it's probably the best folding phone form factor I've seen and handled, because it is a foldable that you don't have to use as a foldable if you don't want to. Since you can just remove the dual screen and use it like a normal phone. What about two separate inner screens (made of real glass) that join together with with an insanely small bezel (or no bezel at all) in between the screens. Kind of like the Microsoft Surface Duo, but an even tighter gap in the middle.
    I think phone manufacturers could eventually get the bezel down to a preciseness that you couldn’t even see the gap, plus it would be way more durable.
    Until then, there’s no way I’m dropping that amount of cash on a phone that scratches at a level 2.

    Two things: 1. Price. 2. Inner screen scratch resistance.
    If one of these companies is able to sort that out then I think we have a recipe for success.

    • @FranklinXVI
      @FranklinXVI 2 года назад +7

      Scratch resistance is compromised because of the materials they need to make it foldable so idk if they will ever be able to sort that out. And for the price, they could probably lower it but they won't.

    • @JerziTBoss
      @JerziTBoss 2 года назад +4

      You can't make hard material flexible... not to a point a bendable screen needs to be anyway and you do need hard material to resist scratches.
      Price will eventually go down if people start adopting bendable phones like it happened with every major tech... It will take time though.
      Around 2008-2009 touch phones were expensive as hell but now it's hard to find any phone that lacks touchscreen

    I'd still want to wait for some sort of glass that makes it so the folded side doesn't get marred by every little thing. I think the small gap that Galaxy has is beneficial, because even if it does cause a slight raise/bump in the middle between the two halves, you could stick a hard glass screen protector on either side to get that hardness without affecting the way it folds.
    What annoys me the most about both this and Galaxy's folders is the fact that they're only making two things better with the larger phone: Screen real estate, and battery life. If you've got so much more space to work with, then do something with it - make the higher price justified! I'd love to see what one of the gaming phone companies could do with this shell, adding fans, integrated io, an os integrated controller? Imagine a Nintendo ds emulator on one of these! It's basically ASKING for it!

    • @Nathan-te7qr

      And then on the smaller phones (zflip 3) the battery suffers and cannot be justified at the price :/

      How about a friggin' SD card slot and headphone jack? You know - basic features that EVERY PHONE should have?
      Oh wait, no. Still can't have those features. No headphone jack allowed because companies need to sell overpriced low quality wireless buds, and no SD card allowed because why should the end user be allowed to expand their storage if they need to? Buy a new phone with more storage!
      And then there are moronic consumers who praise the removal of these features. 🤦‍♂️

    • @kenbee1957
      @kenbee1957 2 года назад

      Actually, having the phone fold effectively makes it have even less space than it would if it were a conventional phone.
      It's hard to tell unless you're holding one in your hand but a large part of a foldable phone is dedicated to the hinge. That's why the screen on the Galaxy Folds had to be so narrow. And when you factor in having to tack phone components around so that they are only in one half of the phone, it eats up a ton of room. The phone is also already Uber heavy as it is. By necessity.
      I do know for fact though that Samsung could have fit an SPen in the Fold 3 but they are holding it back because of the enormous lead rhey have in the market

    If only the Oppo Find N had an SD card slot and or dual SIM, and or a headphone jack, this would be the FOLDABLE phone for me!
    I love the full screen on the outside, the power button(fingerprint combo) and volume rockers being on the same side, and the smaller footprint compared to the other folding phones!
    The rest of the specs are pretty damn awesome! SD 888, 12GB of RAM, and 4,500MaH battery! Pretty healthy numbers! Maybe the next version might have a headphone jack and SD card slot...or maybe I'm just wishfully thinking.

    you're right about pricing being the barrier between novelty and everyday use... take VR for example... it used to be so bloody expensive to get in it that there weren't really that many games or use for VR until the quest 2 and PS VR came in and changed that real quick... then we got half life alyx which just boosted VR popularity even further. (kinda forcefully tho since almost everybody loves half life)
