It actually cost more to mine the materials from existing devices both financially and in time it takes, space is needed for the very specialised equipment, extra staff and energy etc. Apple have designed and developed the equipment and process needed to keep it in house so very innovative.

Hey Zack! I think I figured out why the 15 PM back glass broke on you bend test. As far is I can tell from your teardown videos there is an aluminium plate glued to the back glass of the 15 (plus and regular) whereas the back plate on the 15 PM sits is in the frame of the phone. This would be an ' amoured glass' providing the glass with a safety net agains bending(maybe locking out sooner than normal glass) compared to the 15 PM where there might be just a thin sliver of nothing between the two materials. I guess the surface of the 15 pro is just too small to be bended(like bending a small pice of the same metal compared to a larger piece). I see it as a design flaw people would have to live with. Great time to pass along some information about Samsung (and Motorola’s) flip phones directly from an AT&T representative (not me, an acquaintance of mine). He told me tell everyone to beware of those phones . They are trendy and cute and oh, the click when it closes! But after about a year a line develops across the screen where the phone bends, and Samsung and Motorola give their customers hell every time they try to use their warranty to repair or replace it. It’s a mess!

Excited to see what you feel after using an iPhone for 6 months. One of my friends said he would die before switching to iPhone but eventually he did, and never went back to Samsung. Don’t really understand the tribalism when it comes to what slab of glass and metal you use, but he took it pretty seriously, so it was very funny when he switched and found he preferred Apple
I have nothing against Android, I just like the look a feel of iOS.
