Great review. You sure know your material. TY. I heard there was a shortage of Toyotas. I walked into the dealer yesterday and drove out with the exact one I wanted 2 hours later. Salesmen are savvy. They tell you how great of a deal you're getting. I probably would've gotten the same anywhere. They charged $60 to attach the license plates I carried in.
Great review thanks! I'm not a fan of low profile tires so I'd likely go with the SE. My thought is a standard sidewall tire would give a softer more forgiving ride and would protect the wheel more. Is that accurate? Also 0W-8 is the recommended oil? Never heard of that...must not be much thicker than water!
Tires and rims are tires and rims, should not be the reason stoping you from selecting XSE. You can change to any tire if you want, all specifications listed in user manual. And you are right, actually the user manual mentioned that 18 in rim will make the tire last fewer years than the 15 in rim. By use the 15in, you have better ride quality, a bit better 0-100 time (yes they are faster), a bit longer brake distance, noticeable better gas mileage, and much lower cost.
Well I test drove both cars and I love the way the Toyota handled and it looked amazing, however I went with this Subaru based on the price and the fact that I live in a very snowy City.... I'm enjoying it!
Luckily I bought my Hatchback in 2021, while the 6 Speed manual tranny was still available. CVT is a no go for me, so this will be my last corolla unless I go for a GR.
I owned a new 2020 TNGA SE sedan version of this vehicle for 2 years, & had a few problems & breakdowns/towings for warranty repair while I owned it. It was Japan built, as the earliest versions of the latest TNGA sedan were. The large, low profile 225/40R18 tires tires make for some poor ride comfort on all but the best of roads. Poorly insulated cabin & lots of tire/road/wind/outside noise bleeds in. Inside cabin developed too many rattles, vibrations, & buzziness in doors, pillars, roof & dash to count on mine while I owned it. Only the XSE trims have a hood insulator pad standard these days, & engine sounds whiny & hollow without it. Watch out for mismatched paint on the plastic painted front/back bumper & lower side sill pieces vs the painted metal section, & check it in different lighting conditions. Hope that you have better luck than I did. My experience was that Toyota doesn't build them like they used to.

Just ordered the base model of this. Cars are pricey these days. Even the absolute base was 30k here in Toronto.
They included dent and scratch repair, tire and wheel repair, and windshield-crack repair for 6 months...no charge.

Looking between the nightshade model or a subaru crosstrek...not sure which route to take. The Subaru is manual tho
which did you choose? I also am choosing between those 2 cars.

That sucks bc my 2020 LE that was built in Japan in June 2019 was very solid
