Buffalo, you do a great job of covering details most of us might have questions about. Great presentations and, bottom line , you are good people! 😊
God bless you brother.
Thanks so much for the comment! I appreciate ya!
I’m always blown away at how you can pull off your Tom Knapp style tricks of throwing multiple targets up and getting them all so fast - wow 🙌🏻
Thanks Ron! I sure do miss Tom Knapp showing us how it's done. His laid back attitude and amazing skills was a perfect combination.
No doubt one of the best and most informative channels on the net! Keep em comin' Buffalo!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
If I was in the market for a new 12 gauge turkey shotgun, this one checks all the right boxes. With today's turkey loads, the 3.5" loads just punish the shooter more (3" is plenty). The 940 turkey pro checks all the right boxes (gas-operated, 24" barrel, sling mounts, optic ready, nice simple camo pattern, etc...) Thanks for your great review of this shotgun!
I love your shotgun videos. Also like the fact that you do a wide variety as far as cost! Thankd
Thanks Buffalo. 👍 I have been checking these out and Mossberg is doing a really good job with the 930/940 series. The quality seems top notch and the price is very reasonable.
That 40 yard performance was awesome! THATs a no foolin' choke tube!
Thanks Gary! I agree, Mossberg has been doing a good job on these.
Good video Buffalo! If anyone is interested in the tactical version, TFB did a video on that model today.
Awesome. I'll have to check it out.
I watched that video first and thought you were joining in on James's joke about not knowing who Jerry miculek was when you mentioned your buddy with the same initials lol
@@psycopaintball22 Jamethy Reeves has jokes alright. Lol.
Love Mossberg shotguns. My first 4 10 was a Mossberg in 1961. Have the 835 Ulti mag for turkeys and it works.
Awesome!
Great job Buffalo Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you for watching!
Great review & a great turkey gun! 👍🏻
Yet another fine production from Buffalos' Outdoors !!!
What's up Jessie
Thanks WIldbill! I'll tell Jesse you said hey!
Really good job with this video. Thanks for posting
That's a great review on the Mossberg.
Have been debating the purchase of that shotgun, you just pushed me over the edge on it. Good video Buffalo, thank you. STAY SAFE
Thanks for tuning in! Glad you found the video useful!
I do like to have a red dot sight on a shotgun.
I also agree with you when you mentioned liking that color pattern on this one. Looks pretty cool too.
Thanks! I dig the old school patterns like that.
@@buffalosoutdoors Now I imagine it wouldn't be a good idea to lay that shotgun down while you're out on a Turkey Hunt some day,... you may have to spend some time finding it again LOL!
Great video, thanks for sharing! Looks like a pretty hefty shotgun.
Very nice setup. Thanks for the video
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Good stuff, Buffalo.
Nice looking piece.
Thank you!
Awesome review. Going try get this for a back up to my 870. Really wish it was chambered for 3.5.
2 3/4 is all you need.
With a 24 inch barrel with extended choke making it closer to 25 and more it would be a great all around bird and waterfowl shotgun. At just 7 1/2 pounds light to carry and short for use in a crowded duck or goose blind.
IMO, way to short for a fowl gun. If you want a 940, get a pro waterfowl with a 28”.
Seeing the pattern of that shotgun at 40yrds made me miss my old Remington 870 Wingmaster, it was the best patterning shotgun I've ever owned with it's 30" to 32"⁴ fixed full choke barrel I can only imagine how that old Wingmaster would have patterned using those Apex TSS loads because I never shot TSS while owning that shotgun, honestly I don't even know if TSS loads existed back then.
Thanks~ It done well. I appreciate the comment.
Good video Buffalo !
Thank you!
Good review Thanks 👍👍
Pretty nice rig! Shoots nice too! I used to dearly love turkey hunting, but cannot hunt any more due to health issues. I used a 1187 Rem with a custom made choke. Back then we used lead shot, didn't have TSS. But, the TSS stuff shoots some awesome patterns. As always, great video, great review.
Sorry to hear that you don't get to go anymore. I am sure you miss it but it sounds like you had some good times. Hard to beat an old 1187!
@@buffalosoutdoors I admit, I dearly loved turkey hunting, but back in the early 1990's they were very scarce here in this area. I walked miles and miles in the mountains searching for turkeys. Even got excited if I saw a turkey track. LOL Now, I can only walk short distances between stopping to rest. Had one hip replaced, and the other now needs it. Heart's not working exactly right either. LOL I've gotten used to not being able to do the stuff I once did. I enjoy seeing others enjoy the sport and share their excitement.
Sorry to hear im 30 and go ever chance I get. I absolutely love it. Fear one day I may be there somedays I can barley walk with gout and back problems.
Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoy them!
It looks like they considered people may be wearing gloves while they're turkey hunting with those oversized controls. With the great optics mounting setup it looks like it could be a good deer gun in those places that only allow that too.
Great video as usual. Thanks for making it. As always be safe out there, and take it easy man. 😎
Thanks man! Right on about the gloves. It's an amazing concept isn't it. Make guns for hunters that wear hunting clothes. I wish more makers would get it!
You`re GOOD, my man, liked it, as always!!!!!!!!!!!!! Greetz from the Netherlands!!!
Thank you, greetings from KY!
Thanks for the video. That is a good looking shotgun.
You're very welcome and thank you for watching!
Right up there near the top of the list for semi-autos in my book.
Thanks. I sure liked it.
@@buffalosoutdoors It's got a nice balance of ruggedness and upscale features, without being too gucci.
Nice shooting! And nice review!
Thanks!
Really nice man, good review.
Thanks man!
Thanks Buffalo! I bought a new turkey shotgun I decided to go with a 3in chamber 12 gauge camo Charles Daly semi automatic. And devote it just for turkey with a red dot.
Awesome! Enjoy the hunt!
I have a 930 and its always been great..... sure this is just that much better
Those 930s are great shotguns.
@@buffalosoutdoors have that and a Beretta 1301 .....great shotguns
Awesome Video I’m Liking The Mossberg.
Good USA made shotgun. Thanks!
thats a really cool shotgun i just recently sold mine to a neighbor wanting better prepared and i used the money to get a bca side charger 556 carbine upper in stainless before the rules change took me 6 months to save through bad winter but i got a build am15 lower for it s i have a nice high end a2 carbine and now a budget ar15 for a backup
Good deal man. Always good to be prepared!
Damn! That TSS looks like a hammer!
Great review Buffalo, turkey season opens here on March 25th......can't wait 👍👍.
Good luck on your hunt! I'm taking my son on the youth hunt weekend which is coming up the first weekend of April here.
Nice looking shotgun and great work my friend
Thank you! I appreciate ya stopping by!
Sweet Mossberg!
Thank you!
Very cool! We're going to be going out hunting in a couple of weeks! Can't wait, Gobble gobble!
It won't be long here either. Taking my son out on the youth hunt which is the first weekend of April. Good luck on your spring season man!
Just bought one. I put a Holosun 507k green dot on it. Amazing shotgun.
Great choice of optic!
Did the 507k require a mounting plate ?
I have the waterfowl version 940 Pro 28 inch. Very impressive for price paid, I got lucky on GBO auction. Lefty friendly safety . I believe this shotgun can do it all for me, from dove to duck to deer.
Good all around choice with that 28" barrel!
Can the turkey series do waterfowl all the way to big game like deer and hog?
I have been thiinking of a Mossberg SA 20 and a SA 28 shotgun, much like your Viper from Tristar, both are Turkish made guns, also gas operated guns like this 940, as for the camo I like it but I lean towards a wood stock gun, and the SA 20 and 2's come with a Walnut stock and I think they would work great for a turkey
Would be a fine choice!
Dont hesitate getting the SA-20. I bought on back in 2013 and never had a problem.
Looking good brother man!
Thanks Brian!
I haven't been looking for the Mossberg Pro Turkey model but I have been trying to get a Mossberg 940JM Pro in the black color for over a year. When I find them (mostly on the auction sites), they are usually only in camo and they are extremely higher priced than the normal price. People are paying double the price for the 940 JM Pro, especially the black version. That's putting them in the Beretta M4 price range. I haven't seen any available in a long time. Well, that's a no brainer at that point. Great job on the video Buffalo.
Thanks!
@@buffalosoutdoors
👍
Buffalo I believe holosun uses that footprint ( possibly wrong ) . Truly a wicked shotgun and excellent review
I think you're correct. I had a list of micros that use that foot print, if I can find it I'll link it in the description.
Oh my gosh…I’d love to have one!
It's pretty nice!
ive shot both and found that i get all the performance from good 3 inch with less chiropractic bills! very nice gun, im a mossberg fan for sure!
With today's hi tech turkey loads I think more and more people are getting away from the 3 1/2 magnum. Originally designed for when steel shot was the only real choice as a lead alternative and waterfowl laws banned the use of lead, it has just about run it's course now. I still use shotguns chambered for 3 1/2 but don't actually shoot very many of them anymore. I like my retinas attached....LOL Thanks for tuning in !
@@buffalosoutdoors yes sir! thanks for the reply!
Great video! Drop a Carlson Longbeard XR choke and be much tighter pattern.
I recently bought a 940 pro waterfowl, but my gun won’t cycle anything but heavy magnum loads. Tried all kinds of velocities and payloads in target rounds. Even some magnum rounds barely cycle…. Sent it back to mossberg, hopefully they fix it.
O' I NEED ONE!!!
I was very curious if I wanted to add this to the turkey pattern series, killer review and making me really want to add it 🦃🔨
Love your patterning videos. You do them right. I see some patterning videos of folks just trying to make their shotguns look good.
@@buffalosoutdoors appreciate that more than you know man I love the channel I watch every vid so it’s awesome to hear you’ve seen our videos!
Just heard about the new 940 Pro Tactical….that is something I want to put my hands on.
It's a good piece of hardware for sure!
Enjoy your videos
Glad to hear that! Thanks for leaving me a comment!
I love the spine located thumb safety. My double barrel has it, and when I got my rem870 I missed two rabbits in the same hunt because I pulled to shoulder and flicked my thumb and squeeze the trigger to nothing, cause the 870 have the trigger guard safety.... And I just can't get used to it
Sounds like something I'd do! once I build a habit with a gun it's hard for me to change. Thanks for watching!
@@buffalosoutdoors any time brother. That's exactly it too lol. You train one way and hunt one way for so long it's just that muscle memory. Thank you for your amazing videos
@@wickdghost3639 sorta like hunting the clutch pedal when driving your first automatic
@@ronalddavis bro I had a 94 ranger with a 5 speed then got one with and automatic... Then one night on my way home a deer jumped out and when I went to slam the brake and clutch, there was no clutch and I caught the brake with the clutch foot and stomped it right to the floor and promptly was jammed into the dash and windshield I've the steering wheel lol.
Can't beat a Mossberg tang safety. There's just no other way as far as I'm concerned.
They got it right for sure.
Even better to put the nice aftermarket tactical aluminium one on. Can't do without on my moss 500
FYI mossberg says that the factory choke on the 940 pro turkey is not rated for any TSS loads!
Nice video! Question can you get an extend magazine for this shotgun and when it comes to the recoil,
Comparing it to the Remington versa max which out of the two is the softer shooting gun the 940 or the versa max? Thank u
Beautiful gun, you just got watch the gas ring gaps lining up on the firearm. when (not "IF") they do the firearm won't cycle reliably.
Yes very nice.
Thank you!
ill keep to my 935
So..... Turkey season is coming up and I need a shotgun!
It's right around the corner, at least here in KY. Thanks for watching Pat!
I have the tungsten and gold jm pro, it's a total badass
Had to look it up, pretty mean lookin!
It's a real sweetheart, and even with the price tag the wife was like I do have to admit it Is pretty and nice, I was like babe did you just essentially call one of my guns "sexy" lol? Was like yeah I guess so, I've got several hundred through mine still right clean an runs great even with light hand loads
I love the features of the gun. I’m not sure why, In this market, they would not choose to produce a 20 gauge.
12’s may have been the choice for the last few decades for turkey but now with the innovations and leaps taken to drastically improve turkey ammunition, the 20 gauge has vastly taken over a large part of the Turkey hunting market. I truly believe mossberg made a mistake by not chambering this model in 20.
I'd be willing to bet Mossberg is working on a 20 gauge model and will release it soon.
Agree, I want this in 20g.
Preach
They make a great 20 ga but, I agree, would love the 940 pro in a 20 ga.
I was surprised that Browning didn’t release a 20 gauge Maxus 2. They have the gun already made for the most part being the SX4 is so “similar” to the Maxus 2. I bet Browning as well as Mossberg will come out with 20 gauge versions soon. TSS has changed the game for Turkey hunting. A lot of kids around here are using Stevens / Savage single shots. Even some adults are using them with TSS loads. I plan on Hunting this fall with 20 gauge.
How do you think the 18.5” barrel will pattern compared to the 24”?
Hello, Guy!
Gotta love good friends
YES!
Yeah....... Your getting one! LOL! 🤣
Probably so! LOL I hate it when I borrow something and like it that much.....
Thanks very much Buffalo. Does it come with other chokes? Sorry if you mentioned it. I’m very interested in the 24” version as a do it all autoloader.
It only comes with the XX Full turkey choke. Thanks for watching!
Are the barrels on this 940 pro turkey over bored as they are in the 835 utili-mag? I was just curious if shooting slugs out of the 940 would be a no-go.
That Apex TSS is a $10 + shell
❤Ya Brother.
Thanks for the video... could that also work on squirrels? ..... asking 4a friend🤣
Not sure it hits hard enough for squirrels. Better stick to that rifle ya got!
@@buffalosoutdoors im always on the quest for a good squirrel gun.....
Has anyone bought or shot the 18.5 version of so how did it pattern around 40yrds?
Saw the Tristar Viper G2 turkey in obsession on gunbroker the other day. Haven't seen and don't know anyone that owns one. Any ideas on who to ask to be sure before I spend the money on one online?
That red dot mounting is awesome. I have never been a fan of an optic when wing shooting... This may change my mind. Nice video buffalo!
Thanks for stopping by! Always a pleasure hearing from you.
Would you choose the 18.5 inch barrel or the 24 inch one? And why? Thanks !
I wish they offered it in a 3 1/2 chamber
Nice shotgun, but I'm still pretty partial to my 935. Especially for that price. Not saying it's not a great shooter but at that price it better be, and it won't even eat 3.5's. The 935 throws a pattern just as tight too.
That is one fine shotgun right there. Careful though, thou shalt not covet thy buddy's turkey gun! 😁
LOL! Truth!
Short barrel postal grip and picky mount makes a turkey gun
Mmm. I like it.
Do they make this in left handed?
The only 3 1/2” shotguns that are worth having a 3 1/2” shell in are 10ga. A 3 1/2” 12ga just isn’t needed.
I say to each their own. Thanks for watching!
Hoping it sells like life rafts seats on the Titanic so maybe Mossberg will produce a pistol grib model
Have pistol grip stocks on my 870 ESM and Benelli Supernova and won't own a dedicated turkey gun unless it has one.
anybody have a review on the 18.5?
I wonder if shotguns will all start coming cut for an optic like this one. Then I wonder if people will start using red dots for bird hunting and clay shooting?
I want this in the tactical model or the beretta
Nice shotguns either way you go!
is this the Mossberg 940 JM pro?!
You should try out a Stoeger 3500! They are a fantastic shotgun made by Benelli, that's around $600
Are they semi auto?
@@joshuagibson2520 yes they are and come in different colors such as mossy oak camo, wood, black, etc I've never felt a bolt so damn smooth on a 600 dollar semi
@@jone525 thanks for the reply. 3500 sounds like hidden gem of sorts. Thanks for bringing it toy attention.
@@joshuagibson2520 seems the price has gone up a little bit, but overall, anything in the 3000 series is very good
@@jone525 I was just reading on them all. I think the m3000 is going to suite me well. I hardly ever shoot 3 inch let alone 3.5, so the m3000 will do just about anything I need. Thanks again! Not sure how I've never heard of these before!
Mossy Oak shotguns are great... until you lean it against a tree and forget where it is. I knew a guy.
HAHAHA~ Good point!
Does this Mossberg seem front heavy? I messed with a waterfowl one and it seemed very front heavy and not the best to swing.
I did not notice it being from heavy. Maybe the longer barrel on the waterfowl model plays a role in how it felt, I have not tried the longer barreled models.
@@buffalosoutdoors 10-4. Thank you for that.
Ever tried a cz 1012?
Not being a 20 gauge is a deal breaker.
Stupid 12 gauges. LOL
A for Awesome 😎👍👍
Thank you!
Well if it's good enough for my hero Jerry Miculek it's good enough for me
Exactly!
It’s cool and all but dang make it in a 20 gauge with that 18.5” barrel. No need to carry a 7.5lb 12 anymore.
I don't know if they plan any other offerings in this series or not.
@@buffalosoutdoors they’re not I asked
👍🔥
Thanks!
Sixty two bucks plus tax and shipping for FIVE of those Apex 3 inch turkey loads. I can understand why your buddy only sent you ONE. Nonetheless, impressive pattern at 40 yards. That would be one very dead turkey.
Burris Speed bread 111 is the cats meeeeyowww also
Awesome!
Nice shotgun. But did you have to hit all three clay pigeons? You could of missed one. 😁👍
