Interestingly enough, in warfleet, when high charity is being discussed the book mentions that “the inner reaches of high charity became inaccessible millennia ago” it’s pointing right at the spine and could be referring to the fortress class not allowing entry and literally doing surveillance from inside the covenant capital
Wouldn't it be cool if we had a short story about a Forerunner monitor on observation duties in the Western Front in 1944 and basically being noticed by dogfighting American and German fighter pilots as a _Foo Fighter_ .
Us Germans at the end of the war made our wunderwaffen like the V-2 and jet engines using a tad bit of old busted up forerunner tech lmfao
Problem with creating content like that is, it requires actuall labour, which nobody is willing to invest, if you can just slap a multiplayer on a game and call it a day.
Same reason why the new BF 2042 has not gotten a campaign.

Fun (personal) fact about 2011QF99. It’s become my favorite nugget of Halo lore and I actually got it on the dev list for a Kerbal Space Program mod to add some planets to the stock (base game, unmodded) system.

When I see "exclusion zone" in Halo I think of the Flood.
Didn't know it was a real planetoid, but considering the Gravemind was just about to reach Earth before the rings did their thing, it is a scary thought that the parasite lay in stasis of sorts beneath the ice.

The Fortress-class warships were always my favorite in Halo lore. The fact that they took on the rogue Halo rings when Mendicant Bias attacked Maethrillian is peak Halo lore. It would absolutely blow my mind to think that ONI found a Fortress-class vessel and hid it away from everyone. Knowing ONI, though...
I wish that there was a species in Halo that was able to get some info about the rings and their species left messages for themselves for when they got reseeded and was able to bounce back faster and knew about the rings but why they where fired

That would be strange in the larger timeline of Halo. In the heart of human held space, for over 500 years since humans were in space mining, exploring, colonizing, and only now is it coming to light? If ONI found it much sooner, why hasnt it advanced human tech like it did the covies? Having a fortress class vessel like that would surely have catapulted the UNSC's tech way before the Human-Covenant war.
The covenant had the engineers humanity didn't have the engineers to reverse engineer forerunner tech
@mattmc9812 humanity would have been able to do something with it tho. It's a treasure trove of tech AND humanity are reclaimers. They would have had easier access to activating the tech than anyone else even without engineers.

Well Travelyn had that forerunner map that could zoom in and out in real time for a view of the city all the way out to?...so im sure that's not the only version of that map system nor their most advanced.
Or, more boring version, ONI marked the planetoid off limits because the navy had a support facility on it for the drydock that built the Infinity and was working on the Eternity in the deep outer solar system.

Will you do a breakdown on how the ONI is organised and operated?
Chief in particular is being watched and prepared for a particular role.
This reinforces my theory/idea that he in particular is the reclaimer and the individual who will take on the mantle of responsibility. There’s more to the theory, particularly Chief and Cortana’s connection to the domain.
Oumuamua could also be easily included in the lore as a derilict forerunner ship.
Off topic, but could you do more Most Detailed Breakdowns. I really enjoy them. I would like to see the Wasp or Sparrow Hawk. Maybe you could do all UNSC aircraft.

If there was an easy to access (relatively) Forerunner artefact in the Sol system, wouldn't it be pretty easy to loot and reverse engineer? Especially of the complexity of a Forerunner vessel as opposed to just a research station? I suppose flood spores and an actual quarantine might explain the lack of looting, but that's hardly stopped ONI before. Unless it's the Assembly quarantining the site and keeping it out of human reach, I suppose.
We need to consider the possibility that the assumed ship would have Forerunner-level stealth measures. It could quite easily shrug off any attempts by humanity to try and scan it, from simply absorbing any signals or radiation that hits it to actively messing with scans and perception by making itself appear as just an asteroid in ice. It would only be when humans would send in personnel to directly see the object up close and realize that what their readings say and what is actually under the ice and rock is VERY different, at which point whichever agency who discovered it would contact that time period's ONI equivalent and the fund would be covered up.
But it got scanned by humanity in 2011, so the stealth can't be that good.

Funny thing, if Ancient Humanity was chosen by the Precursors, then how could the Forerunners pass it to the UEG Humanity if the Forerunners wasn't the ones to hold it in the first place?!
The Precursors led the Forerunners to believe they'd be chosen for the Mantle of Responsibility, the Forerunners then went and destroyed all Precursors all the way to the satellite galaxy orbiting our galaxy because the Precursors then said Humanity would inherit the Mantle, with the Precursors gone, the Forerunners took the Mantle upon themselves, it's not known if ancient Humanity had knowledge of the Mantle, or maybe they simply didn't want it but the Librarian and other Forerunners millennia after the extermination of the Precursors and a few centuries after devolving ancient Humanity, gave them certain genetical sequences to give their offspring higher intelligence, stamina, strength or even resistance to certain phenomena, with this they claim to give Humanity rights to the Mantle of Responsibility, these remaining Humans would be indexed and reseeded after the firing of the array.
It just comes down to the forerunners wanting the power to determine the fate of the galaxy and feeling insulted by not being chosen, and did so by nearly exterminating the entire Precursor race.
Winner takes the spoils and it just so happens the Mantle was the spoils.
The Mantle is not a tangible artifact or document, it's a title and privilege that the Precursors would bestow upon whatever species they consider to be the most worthy.
Therefore, after the Forerunners killed all the Precursors they could find, they could claim the Mantle and there would be nobody with a greater authority than them to call out their bullshit and actually back it up.
So then, the way the Forerunners can pass on the Mantle to the Reclaimer humans is because they were the only civilization with the power to get away with it. The Forerunners altered the Reclaimers on the genetic and psychological level to develop in the exact way they would prefer using things like geas, and when they eventually encounter Forerunner tech, they would have the genetics to unlock its full potential and use it intuitively, giving them a significant advantage over any other civilization that encounters Forerunner tech since those others would need to conventionally figure out the tech themselves.

Using the fortress-class concept art on the wiki was a mistake, it makes no sense. Not only does it not match the descriptions in the books of them- but you literally showed the one High Charity was built around, which was the accurate one lmao

Wouldn't it have been more intriguing if humanity was the forerunners.
That is how it was supposed to go but they altered the lore to suit Greg Bear’s books and in Halo CE it is explicitly implied that humanity is descended from the builders of Halo rings

you mean right before the battle of earth also humanity attacked those ships because they knew the covenant were on there way and wouldn't take any risks

As for the question is humanity being watched take a look at religion and culture you have gods and other beings such as the fae this means humanity is being watched likely by more than just one force. We know humanity is being watched in halo due to how bias speaks to us thru the terminals so to some degree in the halo universe humanity is watched and such or at least certain people of humanity.
I want to know more about that new Alien Race they showed us at The End of Halo Infinite.
