I agree with what Sammy said here. I would like to add my observance that racketeers actually seem to make the better bosses in that they are better able to stay cooler under government pressure, and can fly under the radar longer, since bodies are not piling up in the streets. Take the Philadelphia crime family. Angelo Bruno, "the Gentle Don," was more the racketeer type, and he was able to successfully lead the family for decades before he was murdered in an unsanctioned hit that cost the perp his life. Nicodemo "Little Nicky" Scarfo, on the other hand, was a kill crazy gangster, who was much hated and feared by his own men, to the point that they turned on him. Gangsters - like Anastasia, Gotti and Scarfo - end up making lousy bosses if they are unable to transition away from the gangster mentality to some degree. This doesn't mean that racketeers always make successful bosses, however, as they can end up as failures if they get too greedy or heavy-handed with their underlings.
Killers are most of the time only good at killing and hurting people. They are not made to make big money they are the brainless ' i dont care' type people that do the dirty work such as killing and letting people pay their debts. Racketeers are the smart guys who make big money without to much problems.

I'm totally on board with what Sammy said here, two sides of the same coin, everyone has their part to play. Michael never snitched like that so he can’t talk about anything he did that was illegal, he doesn’t have any kind of immunity period so if he said yea in 1993 I killed this person or did this, they can and will open up an investigation. He also saids if you listen to him, even if I had immunity, I wouldn’t talk about what I did like that because that’s the way it’s supposed to be and Sammy even agreed with him. My problem is that Sammy talks shit and acts like Michael didn’t do nothing because he doesn’t talk about it when Sammy clearly knows Michael can’t talk about it. Also, Michael was beyond well known by all the major players as well, he was literally in articles with the top monsters that even Sammy wasn’t in. Michael’s father was the epitome of Cosa Nostra until the day he dies and while Michael doesn’t agree with him living like that, he admires the fact that he was as Cosa Nostra as it gets and he taught him everything he knew in that life. Sonny was a heavy heavy hitter and respected by absolutely everyone, Michael can talk about him all he wants because when he got into that life, he proved himself useful and became one of the most successful monsters ever and he did it without his fathers help. He wasn’t like Gotti Jr who joined and never did anything but live off his fathers legacy.

There are two sides. Michael is like the mob nobility. He brings in the money. The money brings great power. The head of the family likely respects the guy who brings in all the money more. There are likely not many of these guys in a family that don't deal drugs. Sammy is the thug. There are tons of thugs in the family. Kind of blows my mind that you decided to charge like $40 for this. You could have used ads on the video instead, and made an insane amount of money. Everybody would have watched it, and it would have been accessible by anybody. But instead you slapped a ransom on it. Forget the gangster/racketeer paradigm, Franzese is someone who genuinely abhors the "Cosa Nostra" life, and all the harm and misery it brings to not only the innocent people it preys upon, but the people in the life and their families. Yes, he is cashing in on his criminal history and past stories, and while that might be viewed as hypocrisy, he at least comes off as viewing that as a sad chapter that harmed people. Gravano on the other hand still seems to think of Cosa Nostra as something honorable and acts like he's still a part of it, which is not only repulsive, but ridiculous considering what he did.
