USA need this model! Please bring it here! I have been saving my money for this model, I know I'm not the only one. Make it a global product! This will be an epic seller!!
I doubt it will be naturally aspirated. More likely to be turbocharged. Most cars sold in the U.S. now are going turbo to meet stricter emissions standards without losing horsepower.
Producing a new ICE model is akin to being a Dodo. EV needed to stay current, but Toyota refuses. Rivian R2 will be $45k and isn't archaic from the start.
This mini Land Cruiser sounds great. With people in the US wanting giant SUV's I'm afraid this won't make it here. It would be great for narrower trails and with body on frame could be modified and still very reliable. Would certainly consider buying one if they do allow it to be sold in the US.
This would be Absolutely Wonderful if Toyota would bring this to North America. Especially with a Naturally Aspirated Engine. Much More Attractive to More People.

This Land Cruiser model could be aimed right at the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, and Land Rover Defender as long as it is NOT built on the outdated IMV platform used by the outgoing Hilux.
David, this vehicle would be a hit in North America, especially if it comes with locking center and rear differentials and has enough articulation and ground clearance to really be an off-roader!
The Suzuki Jimmy was not available here and would have sold well. If Toyota get this here it could work out but coupled with a small truck called The Scout!
So thankful Toyota is bringing the Land Cruiser FJ in the States on the big positive note naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. I'll be buying one. That mini truck would sell like crazy in the States. Thanks David for the update 🙂👍👍
@@James-il3tq A bad dealer is a bad dealer no matter what they sell...and yeah, we know a lot of H/K dealers suck, it doesn't justify Toyota dealers being d-bags either
Yes it absolutely should come to North America. Naturally aspirated sold me immediately. I would buy one for sure. Our 2019 rav 4 le has a tremendous dynamic force 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Flawless. My wife and I love rav 4 but it lacks a little bit off road. Though it does ok. A naturally aspirated engine will bring people out to buy this little fj.
I have owned two F J Cruisers and am still driving my latest. If Toyota would reintroduce a new F J I would buy it yesterday! It has been my favorite vehicle for many years.
There’s a lot of people on You Tube squawking about this new 250 series Land Cruiser. To be honest, I trust your opinion and coverage the most. What caught my ear (and heart) was the sense that Akio Toyoda wanted the brand to ‘return to its roots’ and offer a modern, well-made, no-frills traditional LC with a body on frame, gasoline-only engine, with real transmissions - at a $25-30,000 USD price tag. That’s what matters to me, and many I know. Solid, simple, quality. I was also very disappointed to learn that it will NOT be offered in America, but only in Japan - Totota Corporate rep confirmed this to me. How do we get that marketing policy changed? Can we start a groundswell of us like- minded people somehow, that Toyota reconsiders their position?
The Japanese version has world famous 2TR-FE 4 cylinder - famous for it's stellar reliability, million mile durability potential and ease of servicing. Will be incredibly popular if it's also available in the USA.
A little inconsistency I’d like to point out is that you said it will ride on the TNGA-F architecture yet later you stated it will be based on the Hilux Champ The Hilux Champ rides on the IMV architecture and not the TNGA-F architecture. While the vehicle would have a greater chance coming to the states if it was on the TNGA-F platform, let’s just hope Toyota brings it here regardless of what it’s based on
Reminds me of the International Scout 800 I had in High School. With a manual, I had no problem getting anywhere with its normally aspirated 4 cylinder. I hope this makes it to the US.
I think my wife and I would buy two of these! We absolutely loved our FJ, but unfortunately didn't need a third vehicle, so we sold it. Neither of us need a large vehicle any more.
I’m praying this SUV makes it to the US market! I’ve been waiting for news about this vehicle for sometime. I regret not buying the FJ when it was available so when I heard about the Land Cruiser Mini (FJ?) my interest was peaked.
I’m a bit confused. TNGA is totally different than the IMV platform that rides under the Hilux Champ, so which one is it? The Champ platform isn’t really new either. It’s been underpinning the Hilux, Fortuner, and BOF versions of the Innova for years now. If the Land Cruiser FJ uses the IMV platform, then I think it will be the exact chassis as the Fortuner. The wheelbase is only about 2” longer than the Corolla Cross, but with a longitudinal mounted engine, the LC-FJ could have the same overall length as the Corolla Cross. Maybe even a bit shorter (not including spare). The 2.7 would be unacceptable in the NA market. If that’s the only engine it has, then I doubt we will see the LC-FJ in NA.
Sorry to confuse you... originally Best Car Magazine reported that the Mini Land Cruiser will be a smaller version of the TNGA-F based Land Cruiser 250 series and therefore potentially built in Japan. Then just recently, they changed the story to say that it might be based on the Hilux IMV platform instead, but wasn't sure. So what I meant in the video is that it could be either one (but not both obviously) but no one knows for sure which platform. My bet is that this will be a IMV based vehicle to be sold in Asia and elsewhere and won't come to North America.
David, Many Land Cruisers are being built at Hino's Hamura plant, I hope there is still room there for FJ production. If the FJ fails to meet our standards, I am willing to compromise with a 250 Series equipped with the 2.7 2TR-FE engine😉
🎉Yes!! Yes!!! 🎉 it’s adorable! Plzzzzz Bring it to USA!!! If not, you gotta get a group discount rate for a business field trip to travel there to purchase us all one & a boat big enough to bring us home! HOPE they will just open this up to the US market so we don’t have to do that! She’s a beauty!
Yes!! Toyota please bring the mini to the US. I'll hold off in buying a new car right now if only I could know it is for sure coming around the end of 2024 to early 2025 😁

The 2.7L,4cylinder,16-valve DOHC, VVT-I, 2TR-FE is the same engine as the famous 1.6 million miles 2008 Tacoma in North Carolina. One thing for sure that engine is one of Toyota most reliable engine
I won't hold my breath. Lots of factors in play here. In the current US market I believe there is a demand for AFFORDABLE and capable vehicles. Subaru's Crosstrek and Forester Wilderness editions are flying off the shelves because you can get them under 40k.
We don't have the new Thai Hill here, but I'd love to have a proper BoF SUV built on that platform! I like the front style of that truck, imagine it with the Land Cruiser first edition round lights! Awesome.
Well the Champ can't be sold here in the states because of the chicken tax. BUT an SUV doesn't apply under the chicken tax which would make it actually feasible for toyota to bring it here.
Media in Thailand told that still not sure whether it will come out 2025 or 2026 since the emission regulation still not steady. Whether pure turbo diesl or turbodiesel with mild hybrid is in decision. Of course here we don't use petrol in light truck.
