    Why did you take the upper control arm & tie Rod off ? I just installed my RS9000 XL and used a pry bar with maybe 30 lbs of force & no problems at all !

    I just bought those with the n3 shocks as well. I'm looking forward to getting it installed. Tires will have to wait as I'm not really willing to toss out a set that have only been on for 2 years. And I'm calling bs on the strut install and UCA just popping loose.

    Just installed these on my 2014 Sierra (4wd). I only loosened the tie rod end and sway bar end link to provide a little more play. You can remove and reinstall the struts without taking everything else apart. HOWEVER, you will have a harder time as you will have to force the old strut out and the new one in. I'm 6'2, 235lbs and could not do it with just a pry bar as some suggest. Maybe if it was on a lift rather than in my driveway I could have gotten a better angle and leverage. Ultimately, I ended up jacking up the bottom of the strut just a bit while pounding out the lower mounting bracket with a 2-3' piece of 1" steel pipe. To install, I jacked up the bottom of the strut and used a pry bar to pop bracket into place. If you don't want to muscle it out and in the way I did, then spend the extra time to disconnect everything. At the end of the day, this is a nice ride improvement over the Rancho strut and spacer puck I had.

      Breaker bar or extendable ratchet handle. Alternatively, cordless impact drivers (Ryobi, Milwaukee, Ridgid, etc) are coming down in price and work great for things like this.

Basically my question is could I put that 3 inch spacer on that new strut without hurting anything. I do have aftermarket uca fyi. Or should I put the inch and half spacers to get 3.5 inch lift. • @bmstylee
      @bmstylee 2 года назад

      2.5" will do it but you're probably wanting to do an LCA upgrade to help with suspension geometry. anything over 2" starts to put ball joints into a bad position and will wear them out faster.

    • @bmstylee
      @bmstylee 2 года назад +1

      I've spoken to a few companies including Rough Country and the UCA isn't necessarily needed at this height. You can still use a factory UCA at 2.5" but beyond that you're going to need to upgrade the UCA and rims as they will potentially not work with the modified geometry.

    • @AimingWanderously
      @AimingWanderously 3 месяца назад

      Your factory rake is 2.5 to 3", so a 2" kit won't make it "level", it's just called a leveling kit because it makes it more level. Besides, do you want your truck to squat when you have a trailer on it or weight in the bed? Likely not, and that's why they put rakes on them.
