  • Located at the back of Fletcher's Country Garden Centre in Eccleshall, Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre really is a little gem. They do such great work here, all voluntarily I believe, looking after rescue animals, such as injured birds and unwanted pets.
They have some unusual animals there such as a wolfdog, a singing dog and some hybrid Savannah cats which were bred illegally to sell in the pet trade. They also house capuchins, coatis, kinkajous, lemurs, and of course the two meerkats, Sybil and Basil.
We had the pleasure of meeting these two little terrors when we took part in the meerkat encounter, they really are adorable, and it is well worth the money.
Highlights were watching one of the capuchins try to get yoghurt out of his plastic bottle, the playful raccoons and the baby kinkajou which Lynsey got to hold!
Jenny and her colleagues do a good job looking after these animals. At £5 entry this place is a must visit. I'm certainly looking forward to going back this year!

Awesome, how does it compare to other small zoos in your opinion

Ro zoo review it was great, the staff are passionate about looking after the animals they have in their care. With entry £5 they probably don't make much money but they do well with what they've got.
