  • In what now seems a tradition, we set off to the Midlands for my birthday weekend, heading to Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom on the Saturday. Here we took part in the Carnivore experience, where we got to get up close and feed the foxes (including Thor), the raccoon dogs and got to stroke one of their servals. It was a great experience well worth paying for. As an added bonus we got to meet the young Binturong, for which we would come back later in the year to have an experience with.
Highlights of the collection were the giant flying squirrel, the recently arrived fishing cats, the civets and the Gambian pouched rat, which took a liking to Lynsey's finger!
As well as some unique animals, Hoo Farm is, as it says, a farm and has a lot of sheep; look out for the sheep racing!
A great place to visit, and worth taking part in one of their many experiences!

flake452 Thanks! That was a Red and White Giant Flying Squirrel, the only one in a UK collection. Unfortunately it had died when we visited in August 😞
