    Link for the Jiazijia battery brand that I've had good luck with in other machines. Full disclosure: this is an affiliate link. I earn a little from the traffic upon checkout but don't get any share from the product itself:

    Excellent video. Came primarily just to see how the clips are aligned and the easiest corners to start with to avoid damage. But super informative video, straight to the point without overlooking any important details(like other posters often do).
    I may also end up doing a display replacement in one of these soon and I will definitely be using your other thinkpad videos. 🤙

    My T480 does not have a removable battery - only the internal one, which has failed completely and is no longer recognized by the system. I removed the cover (the battery looks like its about to explode), got the details of the battery, and ordered a new one. My question is that without a battery (internal or external) do I still need to disable the battery (under wall power) from the BIOS prior to replacement? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

      just disable it..Also it's probably a T480s

    Hello!
    Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. I successfully replaced my T480 internal battery. One thing which was different in my case was that the backpanel didn't fit that easy onto my notebook, didn't hear enough clicks like with yours. I just screwed it back on after trying to put it back 3 times, hope it doesn't break anything.
    Also do you know which type of glue i can use to glue the CMOS Battery in place again?

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад

      Glad you found it useful! Has the lower cover been removed in the past? Maybe the clips are just "tired". 🤔 You should be fine as long as there are no gaps around the perimeter.
      As for the CMOS - I don't have an answer for that, unfortunately, since I haven't done anything to those batteries in both my T480 and T580 yet.

    Thanks for the video. I was hoping to also learn which batteries are considered battery 1 and 2 as shown on the display bar on the bottom right of my screen so I can keep track of their levels. Would battery 1 be considered the internal battery? Thanks again.

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад +2

      That would be the case with mine! :)

    • @rar1001
      @rar1001 Год назад +1

      I just read in a forum confirming that the internal battery is considered battery 1 and the external/removable battery is battery 2. Thanks for your quick reply.

    hello, nice video. I also have a t480 but I can't find a good quality original / compatible replacement battery. where did you buy it?

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад +2

      My replacement battery wasn't original either. I have had great experiences with the Jiazijia brand off Amazon. I've also heard good things about Kingsener from AliExpress, though I don't have direct experience with them.

    Very helpful video. One question: Do you know if there are bigger internal batteries? I know that the 2nd battery can be up to 72.000Wh, but can the internal one be bigger, too? Thanks

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад +1

      I don't think there's a bigger internal battery commercially available at present. But with improving battery densities and technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if building your own high capacity internal battery becomes an option in the future.
      To make that happen, someone has to figure out how to program the battery controller to make it see and work with the higher capacity - something I do not know how to do at the moment, unfortunately!

    Thanks for the video! One question, my internal battery is already dead and I've been relying on the external battery for a while now. Do I still need to go into the BIOS to disable the internal battery before removing it, or can I skip that step?

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад +1

      Better be safe for just a minute or two longer! It's still a closed circuit with the internal battery in.
      So the steps would then be: keep the external battery in > disable the internal battery > remove external battery > verify using power button.
      Cheers

    Hey Chez, I've found your video looking for a solution for a problem while installing a new internal battery for my Lenovo. I think I've messed something up, since when I took out the old battery I didn't de activate it from BIOS previously, now neither the old and new internal batteries won't charge, do you have any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance and great video =)

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад

      If it still boots up afterwards, you likely didn't screw the motherboard up. There's a tiny emergency reset pinhole on the lower cover that refreshes the power controller. Try resetting with the tip of a paperclip:)
