[4K] Reading & Northern: Roaring EMD Power on NRFF and QAPE

There's nothing like a good nostalgia trip when you hear the roar of several EMD locomotives hauling freight! On Sunday, April 23rd, we ventured over to the Reading & Northern for a small chase of the railroad's flagship manifest - the NRFF ("North Reading Fast Freight", North Reading - Pittston turn) between Leesport and Jim Thorpe Junction. Sporting a quintet of locomotives, SD50 5014, SD50-2s 5019 and 5018, and SD40-2s 3069 and 3052, along with 72 cars, "America's Train" lived up to its name as it has for years and shook the ground in classic fashion on its way north to Pittston. Following a tip from our friend ‪@trainutjob‬ , we managed to also catch QAPE (Tamaqua to Penobscot) hauling loaded sand cars north on the heels of the NRFF, sporting a screaming quartet of SD40-2s 3055, 3057, 3053 and 3058 through the town of Nesquehoning. What a sight to behold! We highly recommend turning up your speakers for this one.
