Would love to see a vid on your top x number of regretful purchases (in your 20s maybe). Another idea would be a video on your style evolution and how you have come to identify what your style is now. Thanks for yet another fab vid!
I did a huge declutter last year and have been able to keep it minimal. It’s so much easier to get dressed with a smaller wardrobe! Less decision making too 🌻✨
Your wardrobe update is great. Practical, pleasant to look at and very good for layering too. Over the years it is interesting how minimalists get to really understand their own style. Thanks !! :-)
I really like these wardrobe updates. I think the trial period you subject your less worn clothes to is what makes your wardrobe so interesting. I also love how curated your style is
I just went from 180 items to 90 and I know I still can come down, maybe later or sooner after this pile is donated. It's so inspiring to see your video 🙏🤩😍
Yes, please keep doing these videos. They really encourage me to do another sweep of my own closet. I would love to see another video on your food and meals for the week too. The last one you did was really good.
I excitedly clicked on this video then saw what is hanging there and thought "oh, those are the same clothes that were there last time, not interesting.." I almost clicked away but luckily caught myself with that thought. I am shocked how deeply entertainment and consumption culture are intertwined and still sitting in me. I feel repulsed that I even had that thought. I am really glad you continue making videos even if there is nothing new to show (I am cringing myself..). You do have interesting and important stuff to say!
I love wardrobe updates! I am trying to get to a 30 item wardrobe myself! Currently struggling with too many tops ! I’m at 40 items at the moment so I am not far off. Very inspiring to see what someone else has in their wardrobes.
So glad to see a new video as I am not an Instagram person! Yay for my beloved star print shirt!! Glad it made the cut. Would you do a 'how I care for my clothes" video? I know you keep your clothes for more than a season or two and they all look brand new. My things get worn so quickly so I know you must have laundry secrets we all could use!!
I enjoy these updates and seeing what works for you. It is always very inspiring. I have lots of options with clothes but seasonally donate ones I don’t reach for often. Everything must fit well in the space in which is assigned. I have access to nice gently used clothing very inexpensively so I tend to enjoy gathering and then replacing when I find better. The whole process is actually a hobby and a relaxing stress management skill I practice. I love the process of decluttering and enjoy watching others do the same. 💕
Re black jeans. I had great luck with a pair of Lauren Ralph Lauren black jeans. They are a jeans cut and style but the fabric is actually black twill. I wore mine at least 10 days a month, 3 seasons a year for at least 3 years (maybe more?) before they started looking too faded and dull.
Always enjoy your videos. I wonder if you would consider a wardrobe care video. You keep items for quite a long time, so the care of those clothes must extend their life.
This is my first visit here but I do like to see seasonal wardrobe updates. I don't know where you are based but in the UK, our Winters tend to be more wet than cold so a raincoat is a must for me! 😁
I love your channel and your approach to your wardrobe and your physical items in general. I enjoy watching declutters because it gets me inspired and motivated to do the same. Comparing your no nonsense way of getting rid of things to the wishy washy way other people declutter clothes, I suppose I do have a question. How do you did distance yourself from the things you declutter so you don’t end up hemming and hawing about it? I realize you have 3 years of this to look back on and I think that makes you all the more insightful on this subject. Love your videos, been looking forward to an update 💜
I enjoy seeing your seasonal wardrobe even if it hasn't changed much. It gives me a lot of ideas about how to use the clothing I currently have. I live in an area with 4 seasons so my wardrobe would look a bit different than yours. Would love to see a Winter clothing closet tour.
I love the updates! I think it would be helpful to interject images of specific looks or combinations when describing the versatility of a piece. Your image of the grey blazer was a helpful visual and more of that sort of b-roll would be great.
I've pared down my wardrobe, but I keep a black skirt and a dressier top for special events. The skirt can be more casual with a sweater or blouse, but can be dressier with the dressier top.
like someone else said, try redying your jeans. rit dye is great and has options - dying in a bucket or in the washing machine. you can also do this for your other jeans or your sweaters if the only thing going is the color for them. i don't think you're ever going to find jeans that don't fade ever, but using it every year or two will keep things with you way longer.
I love your star shirt! So glad it's made the cut for so long. question: 1. Will you talk about laundry? How many times will you re-wear your stuff before washing?
Hi, i love your minimalist wardrobe videos. Super inspiring and i almost have to feeling of a game show, 'who stays and who goes next' since at this point i know every piece of your wardrobe haha.
Great video! I did an initial clothes decluttering in December and got rid of 50% of my clothes. I am aiming for 75-100 items at the most. Please do a video showing your loungewear too.
When you can, can you make a video talking about how you care for and wash your clothes to keep them longer lasting? Maybe also talk about the frequency of wear before washing?
I love my Banana Republic fade resistant black jeans which I found in the US on my visit last Christmas. I also love the fit of their high rise skinny so much that I ordered two blue pairs (with international shipping) to Australia.
Question I’d love to have an answer to... why do people who count clothing items leave out things like workout clothes, sleep/lounge wear, and undergarments? To me it seems like this would actually double your clothing item count? I’ve seen this same “counting” method used be others. So I’d love to understand the rationale behind it! Thanks!!
To me I don’t count my strictly loungewear clothing Items because it doesn’t represent what I wear out and therefore doesn’t matter when I try to pick out an outfit. For the most part I think counting is more of a wardrobe curation thing
Emily R. - I am curious about this too! I used to use this counting method to make myself FEEL as though I had fewer clothes, but then I found myself “decluttering” items (really just moving them to the sleep/loungewear category), & therefore my loungewear kept growing with no accountability. So now I just have “capsules” instead, & count ALL clothing as part of my wardrobe! If I wear it, it’s clothing! This method is easiest for me personally & my own sanity. 😂
I would also like to see this - pajamas, loungewear, workout attire (if you have any) and swimwear. I think it’s fine if this even doubles the number of regular clothes but it’s something I’d also like to see.
I think it's maybe the mindset of clothes seen by the world and those not. Or more for creating various outfits with 30 items or less. A lot of people don't care if their loungewear or undies match but are interested in seeing how 30 items in a workable wardrobe can translate into a variety of outfits. It's usually the hardcore minimalists who will count underwear and socks in the mix. Like I have less than 30 items of clothing counting sleep and underwear only because I couldn't care less about clothes - I have more underwear than shirts, TBH.
I think, You do not count gym etc clothes when building specific capsule wardrobe, but You do count them in the "all clothes I own " type of the video..
Hi VI! Your channel has always been so enjoyable to watch. My question: what kind of work do you do? I have always been curious since you are able to wear jeans to work, and also you are very analytical, well-spoken, and numbers-oriented. I wondered those qualities factor into your work life at all. Hope I get an answer! Thanks!
30 items, wow I don't have much but I am intrigued as to how many I have, I think it may be 40ish. I need to count now and see, I love decluttering and intentional buying but I've never actually counted.
Love your videos so much, so excited to see a wardrobe update as these are my favourite videos of yours! A bit of a personal question that you will only obviously answer if you wish but I'm always curious to know what you and your husband think about having kids . As a mother and a minimalist in the process I'm always curious to see how my favourite minimalists deal with parenthood (and all the millions of objects that come with having babies and plus as they grow up discovering that one of your kids is a hoarder like I've done). I also thought of you when I saw a video called "Couple Saved Cat from Shelter. He Can't Stop Hugging Them", if you haven't seen it please do. Oh and one more thing (sorry, lol) in the last year or so I've been a bit disappointed in some of my favourite minimalists because it all became a bit commercial and I saw a lot of contradictory values... You keep my faith going as does this other minimalist youtuber who I want to recommend if you don't know her called Carmen Elaine, who is also a musician and has done recently a song all about fast fashion and compulsive buying.I ts called "Roll up" (and the group is Nixe) and if you do listen to it please choose the lyric version as they words are so powerful, the last sentences of the the song always gives me a shiver down my spine. Thank you so much for everything you do and I enjoy your content so much!!!
I’m also intrigued! She’s such an amazing inspiration but would also be really helpful to talk about even dressing as well. I.e. bachelorette parties, work Christmas parties, engagements, themed parties etc.
I think a great way for these occasions would be to either ask a friend or family if they have something you could borrow, or to look for services that rent out formal wear or costumes that you can return after the occasion :)
Rent the Runway or other online temporary use source of higher end clothing. You can also just buy something special from time to time and sell it afterward.
Wooow 15!! That s amazing! How do you deal with having so few t shirts? I change a t shirt every day or every second day because of bad smell so i am have 7 t shirts short sleeve and 7 long s. for winter. I have about 36 37 pieces.
Will you be fostering any more kittens in the future? Also, minimalist tips if one has pets. (i.e. toys, helpful products, ways to store pet items, environmentally friendly supplies)🐱👍❤️
If you were to say what the most essential, multi purpose articles of clothes were for the year round 4 seasons what would you list? I like your videos very much, thank you.
I’m loving this currently going through my wardrobe I feel like I can’t find my inner style so I impulse shop a lot I’m currently becoming a minimalist to discover my color palette so far I found dark colors look best on me we have similar hair and skin tone I will be buying quality over quantity haha thanks for sharing
Question for the Q&A - do you feel a need/desire to keep to a cohesive colour scheme so you can have less pieces or because you like just those colours? Thanks :)
Hello VE, Great video! I appreciate and get a lot out of your wardrobe updates so hope you keep them coming a few times per yr. Possible upcoming video would be what you and your hubby eat for a wk (bfast, lunch & dinner.) Especially in this Covid climate, I prefer not to go to the market unless I have to. I want to feel fortified so I can focus @ wrk or to get through all of my errands over the wkends without feeling starved. What are good snacks and what is your idea of a well priced delicious dinner or lunch? Thanks and look forwrd to your next one. Stay healthy & safe! ☀
Ramona.....I've wanted to try Rit dye but have wondered if it ever rubs off on skin or other clothing if you sweat or get caught in the rain. Any problems I ought to consider before trying it on my jeans?
It’s helpful to see your wardrobe for inspiration!! I am still in the midst of excess. Living in four distinct seasons, I need a great variety of clothes (but not as many as I have). It’s good to see how you were able to cull your wardrobe. I’ll keep working at mine.
I can relate! So hard to minimize when you have 4 distinct seasons and big temperature changes. I also love dressing for the seasons. Been on this journey for a while, and I still have a longgg way to go.
Could you please share what you eat in a week? Like an example of 2-3 breakfasts, lunches and dinners, snacks etc. thank you)) or if you could make a video or video series on it that would be awesome too)
I wash my black jeans and pants inside out and in cold water. I use Omo liquid detergent for sensitive skin. This detergent does not contain any dyes or perfume and I don't have any problems with my black clothing fading. I am so impressed that you have downsized to 30 pieces of clothing! I am still trying to declutter more clothes. Love watching these types of videos. 🙂
I definitely still enjoy your updates. I was curious how you were going to handle summer without your stripe tank, but it seems like you're doing fine. You must have good AC! Baking here in MA.
Thanks for sharing your wardrobe I have a small amount in my wardrobe too and haven't gone shopping for winter clothes I write a list of how much of wach clothing I have. I really enjoy your tips and they help me a lot in organising can you share with us a update in your bathroom
I would like to reduce my wardrobe, but I struggle with items to keep. I work full-time so I need work clothes. When I work around the house, I don't want to wear "nice" clothes, so I need something for that (usually grungy work). When I work out, I need something for that. I have a specific way I dress when going to church. I sometimes want to really dress up or dress "nice casual." Any suggestions for my extremely varied lifestyle?
Keeping “black jeans black” ideas ... don’t wash often (to “clean” - put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer and/or air out) ... when washing, have them inside out and if you can, wash by hand with minimal detergent ... if drying on a line, keep them inside out so the sun won’t fade them.
I love your videos! I would like to know about the rest of your wardrobe too? If I only count like the things on hangers My wardrobe is 26(Arizona Weather really does allow a minimal wardrobe I’m sure I could go lower I just love a good cute T shirt not super practical) This seems small but this is only casual clothes I don’t count my work uniforms because I have multiple sets because they are destroyed every shift and I can’t rewear. But I tend to overthink having a lot of underwear and lounge wear because I try to make it so I don’t have to do wash as much. Like I probably have like 20 pairs of underwear and like 6 bras(i rewear these)... I would like your take, I guess on because i feel like there’s something to be said about laundry too?? Also maybe a look at your husbands closet? My husband has so many clothes he just doesn’t get rid of. I’ve gotten him to comply with the if you get something new something has to go though so that’s helped.
do you think the weather of where you live affects the number of items you have? I live in the desert so very cold winters and very hot summers, I can't really use the same shirt after one use because it has already created the smell of sweat and street smells, etc haha I'm interested in a capsule wardrobe but I am a bit worried that I will still be having a lot of clothes. How do you navigate having "a small wardrobe"? on another topic, how's the no plastic glass containers been working out? is it all pros or does it have its cons about it love your content, thank you for another video! and 8:51 on a wednesday it's a great time to upload! lol
I live in a similar climate. Layers are my best friend. I own one winter coat and one that I can wear in both spring and fall. I only own 3 sweaters but I have thermal under layers I can wear under other long sleeves when it’s cold. I basically try to have a “core set” of clothes I can wear year-round and for seasonal pieces (tank tops, shorts, sweaters) that get worn 2 months per year, I have 1 to 3 items of each. Also, getting natural fibre fabric can really help for wearing things multiple days!
A tip for washing I just checkt how many t-shirts I have in my basked right before washing them... did this for all 4 seasons (2 times each) and now I just keep that exact amount.
I know that I am late to the video but I just discovered that you can dye your black jeans using strong black coffee. I read up on it a bit and watched a couple of videos before I came back to let you know, just in case it didn't work. Give it a google and maybe you can color your jeans the easy way without chemicals.
🤯 whhhhaaaattttt, that's amazing! I recently bit the bullet and used conventional dye on my black jeans that were more grey than black and it worked wonderfully. I'm intrigued and will definitely look up these videos. Thanks for the tip!
I've tried Everlane jeans, albeit when they first came out and they only had a few different fits, but even their "skinny" jeans made me look like a child swimming in my mother's pants. The next time I'm in New York, I'll give them a try again though. They have come out with more fits.
Hey loved the video, I always get excited when I see your uploads! Check out Nobody Denim for good black jeans that hold their colour - I’ve had a pair of them for 5 years and they’ve held their colour really well.
I’m very reluctant to get rid of old cell phones and computers. They’ve been in the house for so long that I don’t even know where the chargers, plugs, cables that came with them are anymore. Before taking them to say, Staples for recycling, how can I make sure that nobody else will be able access the information that I had saved in these devices. Thanks!
Nudie Jeans have an "ever black" wash that supposedly resists fading. I just ordered a (heavily discounted) pair from Amazon and am really hoping they live up to their name.
@@VestedInterests if you don't mind doing extra loads of laundry there's black laundry detergent to help prevent fading. i haven't tried it yet myself but it may be worth looking at for your black pieces. fading of black jeans is the bane of my existence.
Yes! Updates are great. Would like to see lounge wear and similar stuff.
I know Im quite randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Orlando Aiden Flixportal =)
@Iker Maximilian Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it!
@Orlando Aiden No problem xD
Would love to see a vid on your top x number of regretful purchases (in your 20s maybe). Another idea would be a video on your style evolution and how you have come to identify what your style is now. Thanks for yet another fab vid!

Black & White are classics and look elevated even when causal to me. Solids are classic. I love your style.
I just went from 180 items to 90 and I know I still can come down, maybe later or sooner after this pile is donated.
It's so inspiring to see your video 🙏🤩😍

I've pared down my wardrobe, but I keep a black skirt and a dressier top for special events. The skirt can be more casual with a sweater or blouse, but can be dressier with

Can you talk about what made you choose your current home, what changes you made to the house (other than the wood and paint in the guest bed?)?
I have about 10 items in my wardrobe. It’s not because I’m a minimalist. I’m just poor.
Being poor is now a thing - apparently 😶
Shop at the thrift stores, most of my shirts are from there for like 1-2 dollars
But you could be a minimalist. It might be fun, and it obviously saves money when you’re not buying stuff.
@@Stumpybear7640 lol
Evelina Gutauskaitė I wish thrifting was still cheap! It’s so expensive here in NYC ):

You can always re-dye the black jeans with RIT. Just be aware that then you can only wash with other blacks afterwards due to bleeding
Always love your videos!! It’s always a treat to see them in my subscriptions. Closet size goalz 😭

Ramona.....I've wanted to try Rit dye but have wondered if it ever rubs off on skin or other clothing if you sweat or get caught in the rain. Any problems I ought to consider before trying it on my jeans?
Love this!missed you!
You could try over-dyeing your black jeans to refresh the colour.
I recently did this to my jeans and it worked great! It was a little messy but still cheaper and less stressful than shopping for new clothes.
Like an example of 2-3 breakfasts, lunches and dinners, snacks etc. thank you)) or if you could make a video or video series on it that would be awesome too)
Yes updates are great. It is good to see you.
I have 1 question. What is your name.
I love your videos so much!!
My question: Minimalism and digital clutter - I am curious what your phone looks like
My wardrobe is nowhere near as minimal but I do put a few things back into rotation since working from home and being home more.
I really like the longer length of your hair
What resources did you use or how did you end up figuring out your style?
Keeping “black jeans black” ideas ... don’t wash often (to “clean” - put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer and/or air out) ... when washing, have them inside out and if you can, wash by hand with minimal detergent ... if drying on a line, keep them inside out so the sun won’t fade them.
Good job
You can redye the black jeans, I’ve done it. Easy to do
I love your videos!
I’m curious about you Invisalign journey. Was there anything that you experienced that was not brought to your attention before starting?
would you ever consider switching to more sustainable clothing brands that maybe cost more but last?
do you think the weather of where you live affects the number of items you have?
I live in the desert so very cold winters and very hot summers, I can't really use the same shirt after one use because it has already created the smell of sweat and street smells, etc haha
I'm interested in a capsule wardrobe but I am a bit worried that I will still be having a lot of clothes. How do you navigate having "a small wardrobe"?
on another topic, how's the no plastic glass containers been working out? is it all pros or does it have its cons about it
love your content, thank you for another video! and 8:51 on a wednesday it's a great time to upload!
A tip for washing
I just checkt how many t-shirts I have in my basked right before washing them... did this for all 4 seasons (2 times each) and now I just keep that exact amount.
Hello, are your lounge wears included in your capsule wardrobe? I believe your PJs aren't.
Love your content
For your black jeans issues, you could dye them black again once they fade.
Black jeans that don't fade, eh? I got a pair of Everlane black jeans, and they've kept their color through multiple washes so far.
I've tried Everlane jeans, albeit when they first came out and they only had a few different fits, but even their "skinny" jeans made me look like a child swimming in my mother's pants. The next time I'm in New York, I'll give them a try again though. They have come out with more fits.
How hot is the weather were you live?
Love this! New subscriber here ❤️
Hola! Welcome!
I've never heard of that brand, but I just looked them up and I love their "Out of office" shirts. Super cute and relevant at the moment.
@@VestedInterests if you don't mind doing extra loads of laundry there's black laundry detergent to help prevent fading. i haven't tried it yet myself but it may be worth looking at for your black pieces. fading of black jeans is the bane of my existence.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You are an inspiration. Thank you for your quality videos. Regards from Australia. Stay safe
Thank you! You as well!
Love these kind of vids😍❤
Where are the tshirts. Sleeveless of short sleeve tops
Did she say something about going to court?
What region of the country do you live in?
Yo don´t own very chunky o thick sweaters, is that ok with the weather in your area? You had those in previous videos...
Ines Clement she said winters are generally mild in her area - so maybe she didn’t replace chunky knits she had before
Just buy black dye for clothing. It works great
❤️
Why dont you just redye your black pants?
