That was so hard for me when I was living with my parents! You're not alone, and it gets better when you spread your wings for sure. Enjoy the time with your mom now though and don't let the stuff get under your skin because it isn't yours.
You can do it! I became a minimalist by force in my college dorm and I never turned back! Now I’m married to a man who is definitely NOT a minimalist but he has his space and I keep the rest of our home minimal.

On the contrary to (maybe) most people, I decluttered my closet of not only items that I didn’t wear too often but also items that I wore too often. Of course if I loved the piece I kept it but there were some items which I only wore because they were an easy grab and matched with a lot of things. Thing is, I never really felt that confident in these pieces as they were too casual for my taste and made me feel as if I didn’t put much effort into my outfit (which technically I didn’t). Bottom line: don’t keep clothes that you don’t love even if you do wear them often. Have a nice day to whoever reads this btw!! ☀️🌱🌸✨

True. Im trying to wear more dresses and nice outfits, but when I'm grabbing an outfit in the morning it is easy to grab a t-shirt. I need to get rid of a lot of my t-shirts so Im forced to grab the things I will actually feel better wearing.
I've never thought about decluttering like that before, that's a really interesting way of thinking. By getting rid of pieces you don't like (regardless of how often you wear it), it pushes you to wear the pieces you actually do want. Thanks!
This is exactly how I’ve been feeling. I’ve sold a few and used the money to replace them with items I really feel confident in.
I have 269* items of clothes - they're all in a spreadsheet! That includes clothes, shoes, jewellery, bags, coats, accessories, loungewear and sportswear - everything except underwear! It's still a lot but I'm actively working on it. I used to have over 1,000 but in the last couple of years I've decluttered a lot AND I'm now doing a low buy. I don't think I'll ever have as few as 30 but I'm working my way down and hope to get to 100/150ish by the end of next year.

@@KarissaFajardo It might seem a bit excessive but it's really, REALLY helping me buy less. I'm a sucker for a white top and it helps to look at my spreadsheet and realise I truly don't need any more 😂
@@sofiaalsaraygi6985 That number includes everything except underwear - I haven't counted knickers, bras, tights or socks in that figure. But I currently only have five pairs of socks!

I love that I finally found a true minimal de-clutter. A lot of videos show people with tons of clothing to start and they are still left with an entire stores worth of clothes. This video gave me more inspiration to EDIT my already de-cluttered wardrobe. Love your channel .

I have 158 items (not including shoes, socks, underwear, bras, scarves, hats, and winter coats). I also only have about 1/4 the amount of clothing that I used to over a year ago. Thank you Sarah. Your minimalism series helps me to donate more and more every month and now my family doesn’t buy me clothes anymore! I finally enjoy laundry days because I don’t have to worry about jamming things back into their drawers or my closet! I think what needed the most help when I first started watching your channel was my socks and underwear. I went from having 1 sock drawer and 1 underwear drawer, to having about 20 pairs of socks and 20 pairs of underwear. It has given me a huge reduction in stress and made such a huge difference in my life. And bonus points because now all my items get a lot more love than they used to!
I just counted every article of clothing I own ( jackets, everyday, seasonal, athletic clothes, everything but my pjs, swim suits, and dirty laundry ) I have 120 articles of clothing 😱 I live in Arizona (110 degrees Fahrenheit summers ) and I have 12 jackets / sweaters. When did I collect so many! I need to de clutter so badly right now 🤣 thank you Sara for the inspiration!
I just counted all my clothes too. I have about 50 items not counting underwear, pjs or swimwear.

Kellian ham i love your approach. I’m only minimalist when it comes to decor and household clutter. I love clean, neat spaces our wardrobes don’t need to be sparse if it isn’t fulfilling. We also rotate toys but it’s partly because we’re broke and it helps.
I have a little bit of clothes and my sister has a bunch and I feel so bad for myself since I have so little 😂

Yes this! Going to college I packed about four outfits to wear and about 15 that I may need if I suddenly start living someone else's life, all to fit into the tiniest of closets :D
I probably have about 35 pieces in my closet. I actually wouldn't mind getting rid of a lot of my clothes, because I don't reach for a lot of them (hammy downs that I thought I would wear or clothes that I have had for many years). I'm trying to figure out my style just by window shopping and watching youtube videos. I don't want to "invest" in pieces, just to get rid of them a bit later. So at the moment, it is worth keeping my clothes, even when I don't wear them that often. Can anyone relate to this???

I'm currently going through all of my clothing and donating whatever I don't use, but it would be my DREAM to get to this level. This is really inspiring me to declutter my wardrobe. Wardrobe decluttering has been difficult for me because I havent wanted to let go of the pieces I used to love. I used to wear a lot of wild colors and patterns and I've realized my style is changing and I don't reach for a lot of these items anymore.....so it must be time for them to go!

I actually managed to get rid of 3 items from my tiny closet yesterday. I tried them all on and finally let go of an ugly dress I would always wear for comfort whenever dressy clothes were needed (even though I have 2 other nice dresses), another dress I loved but it was orange and not my color 😂 and I decided to give a t-shirt that my sister mentioned she loved to her cause I haven't worn it in so long. I never counted my clothes but thinking about it (I can't see them atm) it's around 17... I haven't bought any new clothes in over a year and it was just oversized tshirts for work lol. Most of my clothes are bigger cause I like baggy clothes as a bigger girl lol but I don't really love most of them. Hoping to slim down and switch out my sweatpants and tshirts in a couple months ❤️

I have minimal capsules for both non maternity and maternity and I did this when I saw 1 of your minimalist videos. I absolutely LOVE living minimal and we’ve added the component of minimal waste. Unfortunately 100% zero waste is not sustainable for our family but we’re at a good 80/20 balance 😊 thanks for all the inspo! Also going to be looking into those looser longer scoop bottom and scoop neck tops, those look SUPER comfy.
