The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. God....take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.
Class of 1976 here. My obituary will include how fortunate I was to have grown up in the 1970's listening to the best rock bands in history and driving American made muscle cars. My first car was a 1969 Dodge Charger.
This song and his voice always puts me iin a nostalgic, contemplative mood and brings a deep longing for my late husband who grew up in Southern Calif in the 40s, 50s; Calif and countrys best days IMO.
I was very young when he was on tv in Spain, he was on tv a lot, I think. I remember falling in love with his music, but also his smile and happy twinkle in his eyes… only 10 yo and had such a crush on him! Still have 😂❤❤
Like DB below here said, A LOT of young men followed similar dreams ok n route to California. As for me? I wanted to continue my career in music out West. However despite being able to make a living as an instrumentalist in the East Coast? The music business didn't hold similar opportunities like we had back East. In fact there are few traveling bands making a living as compared to say Boston, New York, Florida and New Orleans. So I largely failed. It's okay to have dreams but one needs to find a way to survive. I did keep going with my music but not on Ann every day job. Eventually became happier making money in construction. As it offered my own hours and better pay.
Wow, admirable live performance. Really nice to see. A personal fave; and let's not forget, he co-wrote "The Air That I Breathe" . Talented bloke. If everyone in the world has already gone on at length about "Air", I apologize.
This brings so memories back ...I had just moved from Southern California to Denver Colorado and longed for the warm southern California life and beaches...Denver began to grown on me later but so missed California.
damn i met this song when i came out of my house, and i was too far from it, cuz i went to the university. And i played this song every day that i was far form my house. sad days, cuz was the first time that i was far from my parents. now, 7 years after that. working online, living with my parents. and play this song makes me remember those days. thx hammond ♥
Happy Birthday Albert Hammond born on May 18, 1944. he is a British-Gibraltarian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is also a solo singer in his own right. His biggest (and only top 20) U.S. Billboard hit was "It Never Rains in Southern California", No. 5 in 1972. Other songs of his include "Down by the River", "The Free Electric Band", "I'm a Train", and "When I'm Gone". For a time, he was part of the Family Dogg, a vocal group with whom he had the hit "A Way of Life". He has also produced for a number of other artists. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Hammond
Como amo essa música me lembra tantos acontecimentos da minha vida me da uma saudade de não sei o que ela é o toque do meu celular e consegue contagiar a todos à mínha volta
never rains was written about 2 years before release. Albert got introduced to MUMS label and played as demos the set that would become his first album, but none of the tracks were particular liked, this was done as a desparate ?! throwaway tune that the label owner wanted in the end, though a different track was released as the first single of Albert's on MUMS it did not really go nowhere , but this did !

I grew up with this kind of music, the best times.

Made history as a writer, producer and arranger. But he turned out to have a most pleasent voice as well.
WHAT A GREATTTTTT SONG. IT BRING BACK GOOD OLD DAYS
I was born in 1965, and this song is such a part of my childhood.
I wish the 70's could remain...What bad music today.
This song and his voice always puts me iin a nostalgic, contemplative mood and brings a deep longing for my late husband who grew up in Southern Calif in the 40s, 50s; Calif and countrys best days IMO.
I understand how you feel. Sorry for your sad loss 🙏🏻❤️

Oh!
I'm very glad.

What a beautiful song, it makes me cry that a boy went on an adventure and apparently did not realize his dreams, no success, no money and no love
Story of my life

Also co-wrote To All the Girls I've Loved Before and When I Need You
Just amazing song and outstanding live performance!

I will always miss him. A true entertainer with a marvellous voice.
Que simpático ha sido siempre este hombre. La canción es magnífica.
中学生の時生まれて初めて好きになった洋楽です。最高😃⤴️⤴️最強です。
How I wish I had a time machine. Such beautiful hair and face.

Absolutely awesome. He's so handsome.
The one guy in The Strokes is related to him, he's handsome too :)
This brings so memories back ...I had just moved from Southern California to Denver Colorado and longed for the warm southern California life and beaches...Denver began to grown on me later but so missed California.

I will never forget the time in grammar school David Timmons singing “It never rains in California” while it was still raining

what a great voice
AM Gold CKLW 800 on the AM dial. Windsor Ontario, Canada.
Absolutely excellent!
I actually prefer this live singing version to the lush studio background vocals.
yeah, great job by Albert, eh? Really wonderful.
Not sure it's live. I hear drums, I see a drum set, but nobody is playing it.
I'd say the vocals are live, singing over a backing track.
Una. Cancion. Estupenda.
Y. Tengo. 87anos. Q. Buenos. Recuerdos. ❤
What a talented man..
His live vocal, just kind of hanging out there in space, sounds really great here.
Ay nooo, me mueroooooooooo!!

A handsome man!!!❤
El mejor tema de este emblematico cantante y compositor
1:18 the emotion
Mind máig imádom.
I never realized how much his son looks like him
I thought this is him but back in 1975?
I remember when this song was on the Radio. Talent. Not like most of what the music producers have been pushing for the last 20y.
Como amo essa música me lembra tantos acontecimentos da minha vida me da uma saudade de não sei o que ela é o toque do meu celular e consegue contagiar a todos à mínha volta
It never rains in Southern California?? It’s pouring today January 16, 2019!!
That's good!!
If you listen to the lyrics..He finally sings that it Pours, Man it Pours.
Clearly if you listen to song its not about rain? It's about broken dreams of many chasing acting life in CA
It’s a metaphor
It's not about the rain. It is about broken dreams.
Sos divinooo.
Mi infancua. Fui genio
Esta musica é à realidade do momento como chove na Califórnia!!!
Love my soñg
☺️❤️
you can see that his voice starts to crack after "I wanna go home" at 1:33 and his eyes are watery. He really meant that part.
Verygood handsomman for me
👍🏼
I want to come back to california after living there half my life. Had to come back to scruffy england
Jackie Eick if it makes you feel better neither are all that great 🤷♂️
terrific ..
I wish I wasn’t born in 2002!
This song may not age well over the weekend...posting this on Aug 17th, 2023.
Helemaal top
Some chords sound a LOT like “The Night the lights went out in Georgia” by Poppy Russell also in ‘72. Wonder which was first?
