Fishburne was only 29 when they filmed this, and only 7 years older than CGJ, but based on his maturity you would think he was much older.
When The Bold & The Beautiful debuted in 1987 John McCook (Eric) was only Seven Years Older than Ronn Moss (Ex-Ridge #1). Also they made him put some salt & pepper in his hair to look older and there was only a seven year age difference with Larry Hagman and Barbara Bel Geddes (JR & Miss Ellie). Also there was a ten year age difference with Phylicia Ayers Allen (At The Time), and Sabrina Lebeauf (Sondra). Tre talks about The Funny Papers and Michael corleone talked about the Funny Papers in The Godfather I.

That Furious isn't a monk, that Furious doesn't assume he's above everyone else, that Furious and her are different in more than just parenting style, that both brothers across the street could have had the father experience Tre got....could be a lot, could be nothing. I suspect, tho, it answers a question no one but the audience would ask--what if? it closes that door with one line.
I can respect him for having a talk with his son about using protection. Instead of getting mad for being SA, he's realistic and tells him if you're going to do it, use protection.

Not much missing in her, except being too vocal on her preferences with her sons. Maybe this is what Furious was referencing.

In his own way Furious was a "Father" to many african american boys with this film. Also he didn't want Tre to go down the same road he went down when he got Reeva pregnant at 17. He stepped up and manned up but alot of Fathers didn't. In the UK Simon Webbe got his girlfriend pregnant at 18 but he stepped up and was a part of the Man Band Blue whose distant cousin Keisha Buchanan was in The Sugababes.
Furious seemed to be the smartest man in the world. He asked Tre if he had some sex yet lol

Furious is an S-tier dad tbh. He’s one of my all-time favorite fathers in film.
My Pops wanted me to think and be like him. He shared his story about while he traveled abroad he was robbed of his watch at knive point he gave it up, it can be replaced but we only have one life. Respect Women, and obey and follow the Rules! Fathers Know Best! Because They All Ready Done It!,
What I really admired about Furious was that even though he lived up to his name, he wasn’t a stereotypical black father, i.e. a contrast to Ike Turner (replace “wife” with “child”). From smacking Tre with the comb, to not smacking nor chastising him for being a smart mouth (“quit sweatin’ me”). As well as in the beginning of the movie - From Trey’s “do what?” triggering Furious about his son's attitude regarding raking leaves, to Furious answering Tre’s snide question about chores, “What do YOU have to do around here?” On a Facebook post asking, “Name something you got a whooping for,” a girl posted, “for telling my mom that I accidentally called my teacher ‘Mommy.’” And I witnessed my then-neighbor (who was about eight years old at the time) get smacked in the face for crying. This was during a water fight on the block. While he was seated in the doorway of their house, he accidentally got hit in the face with a hose, which brought him to tears because of the pressure of the water stinging his cheek. His dad heard the "ruckus" and "enhanced" those tears. POS like him, as well as the mom of the daughter who called her teacher “Mommy,” don’t deserve to be parents. They could learn a thing or two from Furious Styles. Reason with your children, but bang that gavel when needed.

This movie along with Friday have heart. Where I grew up I didn't have to deal with the situations like these characters. It's sad our communities in our country face these trials and tribulations. The finger needs to be pointed at politicians and the media for stoking the flames.
