Thank you for this great tutorial. I had a lot of trouble trying to fix the ears with the switch template, but your description of how the switch template creates a square that replicates the actual controller and where it would fall puts it all into place. I thought the mistakes I was making was because I was making a complex rig, but it's really because I was missing the basics, and you explained them perfectly. Thank you again. When I'm finished my rig for my project I would love to have you check it out.

Why are you the only tutorial on the internet that explains the part about the ear disappearing behind the face? I cant figure it out at all. Or how adjusting it works. Like my ear disappears way too early and doesnt ease behind the head at all.

Whatever I do, when I press the button to create a joystick, a message is displayed that no properties in the layers are ready to be connected to the joystick

I have one question, please help me. My Joystick can't update path shape. I have also 5 keyframe with 5 path shape different. And then click Creat new joystick but, nothing happen! Can you show me how to fix it? Thank you so much

To the right of the button "Create new joystick" there is button "Update all rigged PathShape properties"

I have a problem when creating the Joystick, when I create it a shape layer is created but there is not slider inside the shape layer (I mean, in the effect control). Any suggestions?

when i hit create joystick there is not script icon is appearing there! not sure why just creating a null object
When i copy layers to switch template i get expression errors and the pasted layers are way outside the comp, any thoughts?

@@hwie544 copy and paste the Face controller into the switch template comp and it will work
Moving joystick to parent comp is confusing. Mine doesn't work. How'd you do that so easily?
c'mon its easy... just click the controller and hit the move to parent button on the script

The toolbar is KBar on aescripts. There is also a free template for it on my website www.sideshowfx.net (you will need to purchase kbar first)

I can't get the joystick to affect the shape of the path - everything else works great. Any ideas? Thanks for help

Older versions of After Effects can't write expressions on paths. Updating to the newest version worked for me

@@KJJJ-is6tn Second that! If you're trying to make it work on an existing project, update the version, unbind all your joysticks and rebind - boom :) winning!
