At 34:00 when he said “I hope you’re well in life right now” I got chills😞 The way they handled her belongs and talked about her with such grace and respect without knowing she has passed was very inspiring. This world needs more people like you two. Thank you for being such kind, respectful humans❤️ I hope you’re resting in paradise sweet Emily.
She pass as a result of an illness or age maybe? However she came to pass its tragic but while she was alive I hope she lived well and bared no scars from her parents evil deeds and now that she has passed away may she rest in peace❤
I want to say his enthusiasm and heart towards the animals and the little girls doll house brought me to tears. You can tell he is a real man’s man but he is also à sensitive man. I wish God create more men like this man and his Bro
People who abuse children and animals are beyond redemption. Thank you, as always, for your respectful and insightful explorations. You are the very best.
It's only a b use to you people when it's pets. Wild animals die in harsh conditions all the time but that's fine because nature. Either animals are less than us or they're not. They are, as God said they are.
It’s taken me a few days to process this but I wanted to share my perspective here to try and set the record straight. Emily was a dear friend. We’re the same age and it was from around ages 22-27. We met and started hanging out almost every day because the guys we were dating were best friends. Emily had an apartment in the city which basically had an open door policy for her friends. She hosted hundreds of game nights and birthday parties and anytime a friend needed a place to stay in the city Emily would offer her couch. Her friends were truly her family. Emily was extremely creative she used to have journals that she would pass around at parties that became like a living record or the artistic scene she helped create. For work she was a stage manager at a local play house. She lived to help other people make their dreams come true. I see all of her dolls and stuffed and I imagine her as a little girl putting on plays with her animals. The dresses in the closet are stage costumes, Emily grew up a theatre kid always putting on a show and performing for those around her. As bright of a flower that Emily was her short life was marred by something much darker. I didn’t know until later in our friendship when I went through my own hospitalization experience about Emily’s childhood which she almost never spoke about. Starting around age 7 Emily’s mom was in and out of mental health facilities. Little Emily must’ve witnessed countless episodes from her mother which her dad tried desperately to protect her from. The mini horse and other animals were definitely distraction presents as Dr. Gladstein doted relentlessly on his daughter. She never let it turn her into someone who wasn’t loving and grateful and generous to others. The bedrooms next to Emily’s were guest rooms for when her friends were over. She was an only child and her friends became her siblings. It was pretty well known that her parents hadn’t shared a bed in a number of years. Around age 11 Emily was living nearly full time with her Grandma somewhere else on LI. The apartment Emily lived in in her 20s is above Dr. Gladsteins practice so I’m assuming he lived above the office while his wife was in long term hospital. Yes he still practices because he has to make a living. He’s looking at moles all day he’s not a psychologist or a pediatrician. It must’ve been horrible for the people who lived in the area to see the property to fall into disarray and the animals suffering. I blame Dr. Gladstein for getting in over his head with the house, not hiring a care taker, putting his wife first, but it’s hard for me to think of him as a bad person knowing all he went through. No one had really lived at the house for years when it was raided. It’s wrong to characterize it as Emily was “left behind”. She was with her grandmother. While I do believe Dr. Gladstein should never be able to own a dog or a mini horse again I think this entire situation speaks to the horrible fate of people who suffer from mental health in this country. Emily always had a long haired cat around her who she took very good care of and adored. She was vegan and very strict about it. I saw it with the my own eyes. She and her family do not abuse animals. Mental health in this country is too expensive. Emily was the kind of person who had hundreds if not thousands of friends and it kills me that I’m the first one to try and defend her and her family in this very mischaracterized video. I’d love to encourage people to look at these situations with more nuance and sensitivity. I miss Emily so much. She was the kind of person who said “I love you, text me when you get home” to everyone she said good bye to. I love you Emily, text me when you get home.
Thanks so much for this. There’s so much misinformation and speculation about the family going around and I’m sure it’s painful to see. I hope you’re doing well and I’m sorry for your loss. She sounds like a beautiful person.
@@CarolinePax thank you for providing this perspective. I’ve done a bit of digging around the internet after seeing several videos about this once beautiful property and I can tell that Emily was an amazing adult and much much loved both by her friends and parents. It’s sad to hear about her mother and your comments on the state of mental healthcare aren’t lost, this is a perfect example of people who suffered despite seemingly having all the resources. I’m sorry for the animals who suffered and for the damage to this historic property, but mostly sorry that Emily lived in the shadow of this as a child who had no control over any of it. I can’t imagine the comments she was subjected to over the years and how she felt as an animal lover and a vegan and knowing about the fate of the animals her parent’s kept. (Although I now understand why things deteriorated to the state they did.) I hope your comment provides others not just a defense of your beautiful friend, but also some context to the non-monetary costs of mental illness. I hope Emily is at peace in the best, most sublime afterlife she could have dreamed up with her artists mind, and that someday you’ll all be reunited. What an immense loss to the world to be denied her talent and her kindness. 💔
Michael and Marilyn Gladstein were arrested in September of 2010...that house was condemned just 1 week after their arrest so they were never allowed back inside which explains the advanced state of decay. The husband was a predominate and wealthy Dermatologist in Long Island NY. There were 115 dogs living in degusting conditions there. Marilyn ran a puppy mill out of that place. Michael Gladstein is still practicing in Brooklyn NY... though they were found guilty neither did any real jailtime. Their sentences were commuted to 5 years probation and they can never own animals of any sort. So that house has sat empty for 12 years now shadowed only by the memory of the terrible neglect those poor animals suffered. No food, water or warmth until that kind neighbor saved them from a terrible fate.
Another reason to never buy from a puppy mill. They almost always involve neglect and abuse although I’m sure this was one of the more extreme cases. Still puppy mills are always horrid to the animals. There are no good ones. They need to be banned.
This is why it's so important to rescue OR find a RESPONSIBLE breeder. Not everyone can handle a rescue, I understand, just like not everyone can adopt a child. But in that case it's extremely important to put a lot of research into what makes a good responsible breeder and finding one so you aren't just paying for a possibly inbred puppy to be born into the filth of those garages with dozens of other dogs. Really sad reality. Looks like Marilyn literally just chucked them in those sheds and let them fend for themselves and do whatever. So disgusting.
I personally will never buy an animal from a breeder. There are so many dogs in the pound that need loving homes. Why create more animals when others are waiting for a family. Breeding should be banned as well. Money is the reason people breed. Sad. Get your forever pet from the shelter or a rescue.
The smaller rooms and laundry were actually the ORIGINAL Servants Quarters. That is why there is the smaller set of stairs from the kitchen. This home was built long before the Gladsteins owned it. The air and heat in the basement was retrofitted to the home. That dumbwaiter was a lift for coal from the basement area to the upper floors.
I love how you guys are always working together, passing the camera back and forth, and sometimes helping finish each others sentences. You're a great team. I love your channel ❤️
I did a little bit of searching on the internet about these people in this story. His name was actually dr. Michael Gladstein who is a dermatologist and his wife Marilyn was his receptionist. The information that I found said that the way they were brought to the attention of the authorities was because their smoke detector went off because of the high ammonia levels in the home. The story also said there was one pony and three goats it did not mention how many cats but it did say their work 115 dogs rescued from the property These people absolutely DISGUST me! The story also said many of the animals were removed from within the house where the detector went off because of the high levels of ammonia do to the urine in the house. These people were not good to their animals and to let their child live in that kind of cells makes up horrible parents as well I don't care how much they let their child dress up and bought her trinkets you don't let a child you love live in that kind of Filth.
Mrs H 🇬🇧....Hallelujah..🙏 No animal or child should grow up in such filth & No animal or child should ever experience such trauma.. I hope Michael & Marilyn ROT IN HELL for a sickly, traumatic experience for both the children and the animals & for those fur babies that never made it through..RIP to them .. 🐾🐾💔🙏🇬🇧
They were extreme animal hoarders.......remember the Case many years ago and did see the early house photos. Always wondered what became of this house.........it was never a ''Grand' home but for it's area a nice place
Why the house was so decayed..They neglected it also.. This 8 bedroom, 4 bathroom mansion - nicknamed “Sweet Hollow” - was built on 27 acres in 1938 by attorney Francis Plimpton. He included a dollhouse in the back for the kids to play in. When Francis passed away in 1982, his wife continued living there until she passed in 1995. Then along in the 2000s came dermatologist Michael Gladstein. He purchases the mansion and he and his wife Marilyn settle in.
Most informative comment yet. I wish poor widow Plimpton would have sold to a loving family instead, so that Mr. Plimton's years of hard work would have been kept up and enjoyed for many years to come. Good thing they're not alive to see it.
About Emily: I saw a video of this place some time ago and wanted to find out what the story is as they didnt gave much information in the other video. The decay in the other one wasnt that bad yet and there was still a picture of their cat on top of the piano. I was wondering what happened to Emily after the parents went into prison so I checked if I find some informations about her and her life afterwards and I did. I found her instagram account, the same picture of their cat still on her account, and another page created by her friends. She's deceased in 2022. I don't knew her myself but it made me so sad to read about her passing...
@@antoniapaul6260 I know, I saw tons of articles in the newspapers and on different sites about him and his wife. But what I wrote was about their daughter Emily, the girl with the princess room. I didn't said a single thing about the parents, so saying that what I wrote is wrong and just posting the fathers name doesn't make the slightest sense and doesn't has any connection to my post at all. You sure you wanted to answer me? XD
These people collected animals like they collected things. They were true hoarders and I feel so badly for those poor animals that were collected and neglected. That is abuse. I’m a dog owner and lover so this explore was especially dark for me. It looked to me like Marilyn doted on her child so at least there was that, but was she trying to put pretty things in front of Emily’s eyes to try and disguise the ugly horrors that were going on at that place. This whole thing broke my heart. The young pictures of the house when it was white and bright were beautiful. I think the dark redecorating was a reflection of what was happening to the souls of Marilyn and Michael as they spiraled further into the world of animal abuse.
It was condemned shortly after the arrests… noxious ammonia fumes from the urine triggered a fire alarm and is how they were discovered and later arrested…
I was thinking the same thing, I always watch videos of abandoned houses, and this one looked like it was abandoned for over 50yrs, I was surprised to know was only 10 yrs, the paint was literally falling from the ceiling. the place is actually turning to dust.
This huge house is so haunted looking, the decay hangs like moss on swamp trees, and yet we see the ghost of elegance around the edges of the rooms. What a grand dining room set. The doll house was beautiful. Thank you for sharing you two.
This is such a tragic story. Who could even imagine that this magnitude of evil would be going on in this lovely mansion and beautiful property. They obviously adored their daughter. How can you be so affectionate and demented at the same time? Thank you for not lingering in the barn where the animals were tortured. I could tell it was unbearable for you to stay. The evil side of the parents cost them YEARS of being with their daughter. Terrible choices destroyed this family. I’m thankful there was an observant neighbor that took action when they saw how cruel these innocent animals were being treated. This was a very sad story. Thank you for the lovely way you spoke of the little girl. I truly feel sorry for her. 😢
Such an emotional life story, too bad people don't realize lack of responsability and bad choices can ruin their children's future forever! I love Emily's bedroom, all those cute little toys ,the dresses, her innocent fairytale like universe! I also love your gentleness, care and respect for any of the family's personal items,Lesley! Thank you for this touching exploration!!!
The fact that she devoted her life to the protection and care of animals, had no relationship or children, shows how traumatised the whole evil deeds of her parents deeply affected her
One thing I noticed is that Emily’s room and the other children rooms are very intact while the master bedroom is totally devastated which I personally feel like has something to do with purity. I might be sounding completely rubbish but I feel like innocence and a pure heart won here to nature

The book you found in the siblings room is vintage written in 1889. Thank you for your tour. So sad that Emily passed away so young at 29. I hope she had some happiness after such tragedy losing her parents and living in filth. I also pray all the animals were rescued and loved by good families. Sad story but appreciate what you do. ❤️❤️
I came upon this video after seeing a reel of another socia media influencer that searches abandon places. Great job being respectful & open minded as you explored this property with tremendous respect!
Reading on the condition of the house when the 115 dogs, puppies, and a few other animals were found and taken from there, no wonder the place is in such poor condition so rapidly. The ammonia from the urine of the dogs actually set off the fire alarm. I've never heard of this, but that shows how bad it was. It was said that the dogs were actually fighting over the water from the fireman's hoses. Hard to imagine what it was really like.
I believe the owners were Michael and Marilyn Gladstein - there are a few articles if you google their names. He was (is) a dermatologist and she was supposedly his receptionist. In any case, a sad story for sure. Sincerely hope the child(ren) are doing well. However, I think I read that the couple were both 57 when they were charged with animal neglect so the kids must have pretty much been grown up by then. Still sad to see such a beautiful property come to such ruin. Lesley - thank you for your wonderful videos. You always present such interesting stories, for sure.
@@unsocialbutterfly5760 But the girl who died/gofundme, she posted photos of her with Michael and Marilyn on her Instagram account. You instantly recognise her parents (the parents from this video)... So no, sadly, the girl who once lived here is deceased. However we don't know if she lived here at the time when her parents were arrested? Because it would indeed be weird if she lived in such a princess doll-room at the age of 16-17. Perhaps she had another room, perhaps she lived an odd life there.... Who knows.. She can't tell, and I wouldn't trust her parents story.
Discovering that Emily passed away in 2022 makes seeing her belongings in her room even sadder and more profound. Poor kid didn't stand a chance after such a huge disruption in her young life. RIP!
Emily has passed away. This is so sad, & things aren’t always as they seem. He father wouldn’t hold a funeral for her & blamed her drug usage on friends therefore denying this young talented lady’s friends a chance to say goodbye. Emily was very talented in theatre & was very loved by all that knew her. I never met her, I just feel as tho she should be known as a loving, successful person who believed in equality ❤ the people who did know her really do feel an emptiness with her transition 💔 fly high & in peace. You deserve it Emily❤️
I was struck in awe at how Emily's room was the only room so full of light. I also took notice to the fact that her room had the least, if any, amount of decay or even any dust. No dust is very unusual for a vacant property. It looked like she had just stepped out. Now knowing that she has pass, I believe her spirit lives in that room comforted by the things she loved and a time in her life that brought her happiness. RIP sweet girl ❤
I'm sad an shocked reading your response to learn of the beautiful young lady Emily. I'm 73 years old and think of my two daughters. It's hard to comprehend. Rest In peace EMILY 🙏
so so so Sad😭drugs d evil cause of all dark future for d children of today inc all lost souls living🙏if only she was with the RIGHT KIND GOOD MORAL FRIENDS, it cud hav bn d other way around😔😢praying for her soul🙏
Sadly, Poor Emily passed away in June 2022. I do not know what caused her death. Bless her.😢 The house was originally built in 1938. As of today, it’s currently listed as a pending sale online. Thank you for touring this home.
4 minutes in and I am crying. How can anyone hurt vulnerable animals who just want to love us and be loved by us. Their poor child also. 5 mins in now.... and this is going to be a hard watch. Thank you for your sensitivity 🩷
The daughter Emily passed away. Her mom years ago showed up to court in non matching crocs and pajama bottoms. These parents were terrible people. They had many dogs that were deceased in the house rotting away in front of their daughter. The dogs were given a tiny bit of water to fight over. Imagine how that messed up that girls mind to live in filth like that. These people were trash, may they rot in Hell for an eternity
OMG. How awful. Those poor animals. What did the daughter die of? How old was she? Was she still living with the parents? Sorry for the all the questions?
I don't think they were living in the house when this happened. Only the dogs, sadly - alone and abandoned. From what you describe of her mother's behavior, it's pretty clear that she suffered from some form of mental illness that got worse as she got older. It appears that she suffered from periods of grandiosity that were punctuated by periods of absolute malaise and utter despair. The house was a reflection of her grandiosity. Her inability to properly dress herself was a reflection of her despair. I think that Emily was adored as a child, but emotionally abandoned as a young adult. I'm sure it confused her. I doubt she understood her mother's apathy and emotional withdrawal. I'm sure it broke her heart. She may have blamed herself. I hope she had someone to help her understand those childhood landmines as she navigated through her own adulthood. Sadly, I don't think she did. This is a family tragedy.
@@Fuzzamajumulasounds very familiar.. wonder what the connection is worth the patterns that are so similar. Sounds exactly like my own life story only we didn't have a huge mansion or abuse dogs. Just abused to death women and children
I almost turned this film off. I just cant stand people that abuse amimals. Another film of a very sad home not coming back. You two do such a great job. You two should be more carfull running around these homes. There is no telling how un safe they can be. You can get hurt real bad in some of these homes. I will keep watching anyway. You two stay safe. See you next week.
My guess about the dumbwaiter is that it was used to hoist firewood up to the living room with the fire place in it. There was probably an easy way to load firewood into the basement (that open area near the dumbwaiter perhaps) and then rather than carting firewood up the stairs or through the house, that was the cleanest and simplest way to bring wood to the fireplace.
I love the way you explain the History on the home and the family!!! You make it feel like we are exploring with you. Thank you for sharing these beautiful homes with us!!
It really is terrible that people like that would commit such a heinous crime against animals. They're selfish and cruel actions are truly disgusting. I don't believe 8 years as a sentence for animal abuse and neglect is enough.
You mean the same way Americans treat people in other countries with disrespect and kill them for their resources yeah I don't see whats enough for you
true - shame the animals could not tell their side. perhaps then a harsher sentence would been handed out. people do such acts of horror towards animals should get same sentence as if human beings.
I just love that you can find so much beauty and joy amidst the darkness of the background story, not sure if you already told in the comments, but the sitting room with all the windows is called a sun room and I believe the dumbwaiter was for moving firewood up to where the fireplace was from the basement, great job as usual love you guys God bless
The man was a dermatologist - just read an article regarding this case, its horrendous. Thank you for showing this documentary - keep up the good work. x
In 2009 Carrie Cagata of Lee County, Florida faced 120 counts of Animal Cruelty. I adopted my Hound Dog from Cagata in 2008. She was married to an Oral Surgeon and ran an “Animal Rescue”. I found my Hound Dog on Pet Finder. The only thing written next to the picture of his face was that his adoption fee was waived. I KNEW that meant he was going to euthanized so I sped to the rescue to adopt him. The rescue was crowded but not overly so. It was clean and the dogs seemed well cared for. I didn’t see any red flags. When they brought my hound out he was so terrified he urinated on himself. I was horrified to see his ribs and vertebrae protruding. Carrie Cagata told me he was gaining weight after she “found him in the woods”. I had NO IDEA the woman had starved him and had a farm with almost 100 other dogs. Long story short, Boo had suffered tremendous abuse. It took almost two YEARS for him to really trust me. Boo was a tremendous challenge for years and all I knew to was love and care for him. Boo was the most gentle loving Dog I’ve ever known. He passed away last year at almost 17 years. I was privileged to have him for 15 of those years and miss him every single day. IDK why anyone would mistreat an animal. Wealthy people like this have NO excuse to neglect animals. Very sad what happened here. I’m grateful for the respect these gentlemen showed these animals memory.
Leslie and Danny you have such beautiful souls, such a horrible story as a dog owner i can not imagine how animals are treated that way, but such a beautiful house i hope who ever buys it makes it into a happy home
I believe the house is condemned because of the urine (which is why it's in such rough shape seeing it's only been abandoned for 10-12 years) so sadly no buying it. Also explains why the children's stuff was all left behind
I’m glad you didn’t linger by the buildings where they kept abused animals 😢 I too am an animal lover and cannot handle the thought of anything being hurt. The poor children of that family. Thank you for another explore. ❤️🇨🇦
@@sav2823 If you are an animal lover, then you don’t support the abuse of any animal. Eating animals and using products made from them supports animal abuse and cruelty. Hence, being vegan has a lot to do with it.
@@melaniekolomyja7335 I'm not going to argue about this for the million time. It doesn't matter whether you're vegan or not, anyone can see this was absolutely horrible. No animal should be in this situation.
They actually found animals throughout the home too… along with dead carcasses… it was a fire alarm that went off triggered by the noxious ammonia fumes from the urine saturation… the home was condemned shortly after their arrest… and it appears the daughter died young at 29 last year… sad all the way around…
Hi guys! I love you guys and your show so very much. You're passionate about your work, you have compassion, love and kindness for people and animals. This video has left me feeling so sad but it's also good that you put it out there so that people know that they should never ever hoard animals. Such a great disservice was done to these poor animals by these people and their poor daughter. I've heard many stories like this and no matter how many times I hear it I can't believe the ignorance and selfishness of people like them. The little picture you see of a cat on my comment is my little Peanut. She died just this month the 6 of April 2023 I thought I would die to. It was unbearable the pain I felt of loosing her but, she was after all 19 years old and I was blessed to have her for 17 years. She was a rescue from outdoors. I was unconsolable up until 2 days ago. I miss her so much. Thank you guys for all the wonderful videos and I love that you always have a story to go with your videos. Keep up the good work. Hello from Canada! Love and peace to you.
This is the best , by far, of all of your videos. It had me spellbound. It sickened my stomach about the poor animals 😔 But the tour of the home was magnificent ! Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventures with all of us. ...... From your armchair Urban Explorer.
This 8 bedroom, 4 bathroom mansion was built in 1938 by Francis Plimpton on a 27 acre piece of land he called Sweet Hollow. He built the little child's house in the back, for his children. He passed away in 1982, his wife lived there until 1995 when she left because she was too old to live in the house. In the 2000s, Michael and his wife Marilyn bought the house and lived there with their daughter Emily. It all came to an end, when the urine in the house turned to ammonia, which alerted authorities. Dressed in full hazmat suits, they found a horrible scene, dead animals everywhere. There were 115 dogs, 3 goats, one cat and one pony. 30 of the dogs were dead, some of their bodies found piled in the sink and bathtub. The pony's hooves were so bad, a hacksaw had to be used to trim it's hooves. They were fined $142,000.00 to take care of the animals and were arrested for what they did to the animals. The house is for sale, the price tag, 1.7 million. Michael still practices dermatology in New York.
This tour was by far the most amazing. I loved both of Your descriptions. You both are PROS! Should be in TV, or Hollywood! Love both of your accents, and Lesley, you have a charming, and soothing voice. I never tier of listening to You!! You are a true storyteller. It is a Gift. More power too you both!!! Mike from the States!!! Love You both!!! ❤❤❤
Lovely Emily with beautiful voice studied musical theater and worked as assistant director. She look like a strong woman and surrounded by friends, I wonder what really happen to her passing away. Parents karma hit Emily hard, I guess. RIP Emily!
Most USA houses with dumb-waiters were built around 1880-1910. Almost always in rich, large American-Victorian era. A young friend and I used to get into one at his house and pull ourselves up to the second floor!
Heartbreaking explore. You two are so respectful of the homes and lives of the previous occupants. You are so sweet and lovely with each other as well. Love your interactions with each other.
From the go fund me from July 2022 in part ..Our dearest sweet Emily... her birthday is listed as September 20th, she was 29 years old. Emily had an abundance of friends who respected her privacy on herpassing. It is by the Grace of God Emily is resting in Heavenly Peace. We as a decent society should pray for her, not contribute to hearsay and assumptions.
It is so sad seeing the little girl’s bedroom and toys. I hope she is doing okay. Lesley, I love the descriptions you give as you walk through, and your little stories. So magical.
This is my first video to watch on your channel. The title peaked my interest, "They ruined their child's life". Then you mentioned the animal abuse and I was in tears. I am a huge animal lover and I just can't comprehend why a human can do that. Why have animals if you do not love them? Maybe a sign of power to them. As for the "dumb waiter", there are a few older upscale homes in the USA which had them. I see the washer/dryer was upstairs, but some homes had them in the basement and the laundry chute was similar to the dumb waiter to throw the clothes down. This was once a beautiful home. Thank you for sharing.
Apparently they were running a puppy mill. Just breeding them over and over and over again. People like that are absolutely despicable. No respect. It’s sad that little Emily passed away at 29 according to some of the other posts, the mental health of her must’ve been majorly compromised after living what she lived through. So sad. My impression of Emily’s room being bright and cheery, and happy to total contrast of the master bedroom, dark and creepy. You did an outstanding job. Oh my gosh you just got to the attic. It looks like it’s just a total hoarders house. It definitely is a huge house over here. I feel sorry for the people who bought it. The cleanup will take months alone. You definitely showed it justice. I hope you get to go back after it’s been renovated. Thank you. Sending love from California. 💜🤟🏻🤗🥸🇺🇸
I am completely floored at how bad the house and property got in only 10 yrs!! So sad. I would have given absolutely anything for that little girls playhouse when I was young. That poor little one. I pray she was placed in the care of her siblings, Great video boys. The dumb waiter in the library was to send food up or anything the servants would be meant to send to the Library. Many things look as if it was a much older 1800s home that had additions to it. I hope it will be restored.
I remember the channel RnK All Day did this house on their channel years ago. The house that you filmed seemed a bit emptied out. Thank you for providing the story. They didn't mention it on RnK but their viewers were able to figure out who the family was who lived there. Sad story. But you did a great job, Bros of Decay. I love seeing your US vids.
I just watched a video from 5 years ago and 9 months ago, Emily's room was in disarray then, someone did some reorganizing. There was a lot of debris all over the house in those videos.
I love how you guys choose to focus on the positive aspect, of the beauty of this house that has a dark past. Instead of the destruction from vandalism, or the abuses to the animals.
Estate home designed c. 1938 in the Colonial Revival style by Edward S. Hewitt on originally 27 acres of land for Francis Taylor Pearsons Plimpton, Sr {attorney, financier, diplomat}. Plimpton served as an associate of Root, Clark, Buckner & Ballantine and as a partner in the firm of Debevoise & Plimpton and was a a president of the New York City Bar Association. He also served on the United States delegation to the United Nations at the behest of Adlai Stevenson. Additionally, he was a trustee of Bowery Savings Bank, Phillips Exeter Academy, Barnard College, Harvard University, and Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Union Theological Seminary of New York City. The home was much later owned by Michael and Marilyn Gladstein who were arrested on counts of animal cruelty.
If Emily was 17 when all this went down, why was her room still like this?! Oh this poor kid… It’s no wonder she struggled with addiction and passed away young. The trauma and insanity she must have lived in.
Personally I don’t think it’s that weird. It was normal to grow up with the same childhood bedroom sure some things may change here and there but nothing drastic, before we became extremely consumerist things were cherished longer.
they must've moved out and neglected the animals in the house to survive on their own plus I read an article that the fire alarm went off because of the odour of animal urine saturating the rooms
I believe that he is a dr. I read the article about them. How could any child live with this condition going on. Thank you for sharing the home with us. You did an excellent job showing it. I’m not sure I’ve seen a house decay quite as quickly as this one, possibly from all of the urine. It’s so, so sad. Wishing Emily and the other children the best.
I saw another video and tried to find out what happened to Emily. I found her Instagram page and a gofundme page dedicated to her. She seems to be deceased in 2022
Lesley, I think the word you were looking for when speaking about the horses was “ emaciated “ (meaning starved, able to see their skeletal structure, they were just skin and bones) what a sad story! 😢
This was hard to watch for me as well. I am vegan for the animals and seeing any type of cruelty makes my heart break. I was very curious about Emily and did a little deep dive and found out she has sadly passed away in 2020 too but was extremely loved by all her friends and people around her, seems to have lead a full life, loved theatre and yeah I guess as long as she lead a full life and had love, I think that’s a great thing since that’s what people want life at the end of the day. But so surreal I now know so much bout heR, have seen her room, her pics and she’s no longer with us. Wild eh? Thank you for such a surreal experience
Wow! They must have been charged with some serious crimes for them to be sentences to 8 years in prison. Animal cruelty crimes are some of the hardest to prosecute because most government officials simply don't care. I just read the article. 115 dogs were found 🥺
Mrs H 🇬🇧 .. UK laws for animal cruelty is insulting & Pathetic YET I believe a life for a life ....Animals feel pain like humans YET they show/Give more love than human's... Animals are better than human's but aren't given the same respect/Jail time.. It infuriates me...💔🇬🇧
This one truly had me concerned about your health and safety, more than other places. Watching you being in there and breathing all the particles gave me anxiety. That's the epitome of invisible filth filling the air. Such a waste of a gorgeous, enormous well-built house, just trashed like that. Nice of the vandals to use matching pink paint! Emily was beautiful and had a beautiful room full of beautiful toys and endless things to play with but in her photos she's always alone. Breaks my heart. Her parents had more money than brains, what horrible disgusting people they are! I don't want to believe Emily died.... she was the only good thing about this family. Another great video you guys!!! Great job!!
I agree with you about anxiety while seeing them breathing that air. I can smell the mold❗️ I have allergies, and am always thinking that these abandoned mansions explorers should wear hazmat gear. What happened to the animals is terrible but I can’t help wondering what kind of life was their daughter actually living. Pictures of her all dressed up beautifully do not mean that they were kind to her. Such a sad story, thank you for sharing and I appreciate the respect you show.
This is so sad watching and knowing there was so much animal abuse and neglect . I could see the child was smiling, but her eyes looked so sad. I really liked the child's bedroom, but not the rest of the house.
wow.. I've read some of the comments and pieced together a good portion of this story and I can't even believe that these people did this to this these animals, and their own daughter.. all it seems they did while ruining her life, was buy her affection.. then to find out that she was 17 when this went down made me wonder why her childhood room was still set up like that.. I honestly thought she as a little girl when all this went down because of that room.. it's like a time capsule, like her mother didn't want her to grow up so she just moved her into another room and kept the other one pristine.. very strange.. also there is no reason for anyone to ever have 115 dogs in and around their house!! can y'all imagine what that must've smelled like!! YUK!!! bad enough to make the smoke detectors go off because of the ammonia!! and this poor kid had to live in that smh.. then come to find out that she goes through all this, only to pass away at the age of 28 from either an accidental overdose, or suicide and her father blaming her friends for her addiction just makes my blood boil.. how dare you!! I have 3 years clean myself, and went through the "blame game" with my own mother blaming people for mine, and not taking any responsibility for the abuse she put me through my whole life.. so hearing about this just hit home, and pisses me off.. I'm glad her friends stepped up for her though!! and I hope she's finally at peace..
So sad what the children had to lose out on their family because of their parents.. So sad..☹.. Thank you for trying to bring out the positive through your adventure through the house.. Be safe in all your adventures and travels through out the world.. Bless you both in the name of Jesus.. So sad what happened to the animals.. 😒
Great job guys..please be safe and wear the best masks while visiting these homes. They have mold issues. You are respectful and even though…. people don’t realize when things spiral out of control. In this case they should have reported animals to an authority if they were not able to care for them. Emily rest in peace and warmth….you are innocent and may Angels in heaven take care of you love. ♥️🕊️🌹🧸💝 You did the very best you could after your parents were charged for something which should have been common sense matter. But the smartest people go wrong sometimes so we forgive them. A beautiful child lost, an innocent soul lost - authorities need to be very mindful of children involved….its so traumatic for a child, maybe it was hard for her to cope. 😢❤
I wonder if they're all still alive and have watched this video at anytime. It is so sad to see people leaving their precious memories behind to decay. It also seemed as though the parents had experienced some mental breakdowns towards the end. Those colors were awful, and she obviously had a shopping problem. So sad.
The adults are and never served jail time only probation. He is a practicing doctor again in New York. Emily unfortunately it seems died last year at 29.
You do a wonderful presentation of the property. It is sad about the history but hopefully the house will be restored as well as the gardens. The new owners can bring happiness back into this place. Hopefully some of the antique furniture can be sold and reused too. Thanks so much. I enjoyed your video.
First time I saw this home was a few years ago when it was in a little better shape when exploring with Josh took us there with him. Thank you as well for showing us what it looks like now. On Exploring with Josh’s video of it it still shows soooo much of their personal belongings so someone has taken a lot of things out of this home. Josh called it the Alice in wonderland house as well as Steve Ronin did as well.

I hope you’re resting in paradise sweet Emily.
I too appreciated the respect these men showed to the property and its contents.

@MaryDavidson-uf6tj she was only 28. She passed from a car accident
It feels appropriate that the innocent child’s room would be bright and happy, the parents’ room decaying and dark.
I want to say his enthusiasm and heart towards the animals and the little girls doll house brought me to tears. You can tell he is a real man’s man but he is also à sensitive man. I wish God create more men like this man and his Bro

Thank you very much for sharing
Thanks so much for this. There’s so much misinformation and speculation about the family going around and I’m sure it’s painful to see. I hope you’re doing well and I’m sorry for your loss. She sounds like a beautiful person.
Wow im so sorry for your loss.
¿Qué pasó con Emily y cuántos años tendría?
5 years probation eh! Certain other people in thos country would have gotten 25 to life. Different laws for different Americans.
✍️🇺🇸That evel👹 people was arrested for animals abused🐴🐶🐱
I read that the home was built in 1938 for a prominent family in the area. I would have thought it was much older.
Yes it was built in 1938 by peter etc google it@@kathycasey9153

I did a little bit of searching on the internet about these people in this story. His name was actually dr. Michael Gladstein who is a dermatologist and his wife Marilyn was his receptionist. The information that I found said that the way they were brought to the attention of the authorities was because their smoke detector went off because of the high ammonia levels in the home. The story also said there was one pony and three goats it did not mention how many cats but it did say their work 115 dogs rescued from the property
These people absolutely DISGUST me!
That's what I could find also. I haven't been able to find anything on the daughter though.
Thanks Danny good video but sad that the animals were not taken care of.
Mrs H 🇬🇧....Hallelujah..🙏 No animal or child should grow up in such filth & No animal or child should ever experience such trauma.. They were extreme animal hoarders.......remember the Case many years ago and did see the early house photos. Always wondered what became of this house.........it was never a ''Grand' home but for it's area a nice place
@@margiemargie5 It looks like she might have died at 29.
Very sad. Should be restored to its original grandeur.

That house looks like it's been abandoned for over 30 years!! It must have already been run down to look so bad after just 11 years.
It was condemned shortly after the arrests… noxious ammonia fumes from the urine triggered a fire alarm and is how they were discovered and later arrested…
High levels of ammonia can peel paint from walls and furniture
I was thinking the same thing, I always watch videos of abandoned houses, and this one looked like it was abandoned for over 50yrs, I was surprised to know was only 10 yrs, the paint was literally falling from the ceiling. the place is actually turning to dust.
It only takes a few roof leaks. I restore old houses. The roof is everything.

@janlundberg5924 not true LOL. there absolutely are things that ruin lives forever, and lead to suicide.
The fact that she devoted her life to the protection and care of animals, had no relationship or children, shows how traumatised the whole evil deeds of her parents deeply affected her

😒👍
Obviously she didn’t have her mental health for some time. So sad.
OMG.

That’s what I was about to suggest.Seems logical 😊👍
I was thinking the same thing. I once lived in a house with a dumb waiter for firewood.

It really is terrible that people like that would commit such a heinous crime against animals. They're selfish and cruel actions are truly disgusting. I don't believe 8 years as a sentence for animal abuse and neglect is enough.
I totally agree with you!
You mean the same way Americans treat people in other countries with disrespect and kill them for their resources yeah I don't see whats enough for you
@@richardbas2948 Make it life for abuse of any living thing.
true - shame the animals could not tell their side. perhaps then a harsher sentence would been handed out. people do such acts of horror towards animals should get same sentence as if human beings.

Its hard to believe that a three person family lived there.Thank you for this and thank all of you in the comments for explaining the story.
I’m glad you didn’t linger by the buildings where they kept abused animals 😢 I too am an animal lover and cannot handle the thought of anything being hurt.
The poor children of that family.
Thank you for another explore. ❤️🇨🇦

@@melaniekolomyja7335 What does being vegan have to do with anything

He is still practicing in NY, what about her?

These awful people should be treated like they treated those poor innocent animals. Burn the whole dump to the ground!
I wondered if that was why the christmas tree lights were left 'on'. Maybe someone does hope it gets razed to the ground.
Heart breaking for the young girl, bad enough she lost her parents , but tragic she left her things behind 😕🐨🥰
I'm with you. It hurts my heart so badly to see or hear about any animal abuse. Very sad. Hugs
Wow, this home is incredible. I am very upset and sad of the animal abuse that took place here. Poor Emily to have to live through that.
Sadly Emily passed away...

Sadly, Emily passed away last year at age 29. :(
@@Janadu Oh. I’m sorry to hear that. 🥺
Whatching you from south Africa found your videos very interesting when you tell about the history of the places you go to
Apparently they were running a puppy mill.
Hey Bros! That's a wonderful photo! That's amazing colors. Too bad the story is so sad! The parents were very neglectful. This is very regretable!❤❤
I think it should be burned.

If Emily was 17 when all this went down, why was her room still like this?! Oh this poor kid…
It’s no wonder she struggled with addiction and passed away young.

I thought she was 12 when it happened, or am I wrong?
Sad story breaks my heart I hope the animals got new homes. Sad for their daughter she lost so much
Likely would of never stayed there if had the opportunity as not depraved.

Yes the Eyes have it window to the Soul so we can feel and see when others do not have that spark ! and what that really is. may mean/attribute to. 😘.
agreed, she looked unhappy in all the (very posed) pictures. she seemed to be her parent's little doll moreso than an actual person.
I agree with you and noticed that her eyes seem sad. May she rest in peace.
I'm glad her friends stepped up for her though!! and I hope she's finally at peace..
seems like she themed it too for the holidays
So sad what the children had to lose out on their family because of their parents.. So sad..☹.. Thank you for trying to bring out the positive through your adventure through the house..
So sad.
